Many women have been suspended from sm for asking the question:

“Do you believe that male sexed people should be allowed access to changing rooms and showers for female sexed people and teenagers?”
Seems like a perfectly reasonable question which we should be allowed to ask.

Just taking the baton on this topic which has involved many women here to continue the discussion. So far on the previous threads there is a roughly 93% - 7% in favour of YANBU.

Even the way you’ve worded the questions oozes such bias.

Should men access womens changing areas? No, obviously not.

Should trans people be allowed to use the facilities they’re legally allowed to use? Yes, I think they should.

Actually, even when I say “obviously not”, I don’t mean that I’m every situation. I think a dad can bring their child in to use the women’s bathroom, or to change their child’s nappy etc.

I think the are allowances.

Not sure that is actually the case PinkyU. Under the Equalities Act sex is a protected characteristic. The fact that gender reassignment is also a protected characteristic does not mean that trans people can have a free choice if it impacts on others. And yes I am biased. But so are the people who say I shouldn’t speak about it.

But there's a push to change the legalities involved in gender reassignment which removes safeguards and protections for women and children.

So a man can identify as a trans woman without any medical intervention (no drugs, no surgery) and demand to be treated as a woman - how is this right?

I’ll never understand why anyone will forgo women’s rights for trans rights when the safeguarding issues are so glaringly obvious.

Not true. We are allowed to discriminate on the basis of sex where needed. This can include those with a GRC because they are make.

It's the 'self id' bollocks that's the issue. Men simply saying "I am a woman" and we're meant to just nod along with it.
It was very clever of them to add in the 'non binary' too because previously transexual meant surgery and hormones and a medical diagnosis. Now it's just whatever anyone says and unprovable.
I DP could say he's a woman right now and change nothing at all.

People can change their clothes and call themselves by a different name no one cares.
It's when they claim they have actually changed sex and expect everyone to go along with their faith based beliefs or else.

ADULT MALES DO NOT NEED FEMALE SEX BASED RIGHTS BECAUSE THEY ARE MALE.
Transmen and non binary females however do.

A trans person does not have the right to access the facilities of their acquired gender. This is a misrepresentation of the equality act (someone will come along and give details).

I thought the last thread was very illuminating.

I think there is a conflict of interest between trans women and women.

I think there are (in some instances) extreme vulnerabilities on both sides (extreme gender dysphoria, rape victims).

a) this needs to be discussed and this discussion cannot be allowed to be silenced.

b) regardless of how emphatic we are, we will always come to this from our own perspective. A woman cannot know what a trans woman is going through. A trans woman cannot know what a woman is going through in terms of discrimination for maternity, pregnancy issues or general gynaecological issues.

This is why it is imperative that we have separate representations for women and trans women. Regardless of how much we try, we cannot understand the other side properly. This is why trans women should not take women’s positions. They need their own.

@BPCoveredInSpots Not every one shares your boundaries. We’re not a homogeneous group, I have different boundaries, thoughts, ideas etc to you. Yours are no more correct than mine.

I'm fully supportive of wear what you want, be who you want to be - as long as you're not transgressing other people's rights.
