Do you use a purse?

Just that really, do you use a purse and if not then what do you use for your cards etc instead?

YABU - obviously I use a purse, stupid question
YANBU - purses are sooo 2010 and are cumbersome. Of course I don't.

I never used to but now I do

I love my purse. It’s so pretty

Guineapig99 · 03/01/2021 17:21

I have a little wallet that holds a few cards a s some notes and fits in my pocket.

moglovesmincepies · 03/01/2021 17:21

I didn't, but I lost so many bank cards that dh insisted I use one.
Haven't lost a card since I bought it I have to say.

StylishMummy · 03/01/2021 17:21

I adore my purse, it's organised, I know exactly where each card is, how much is in it and where it is. If I walk out the door without it I feel weirdly vulnerable even though I have Apple Pay etc

CoRhona · 03/01/2021 17:22

I was given a Radley purse for Christmas and am looking forward to using it! The only exception is if I don't take a bag out, then I have a bank card in the back of my phone case. Not really bothering with cash at present...

Tal45 · 03/01/2021 17:22

I use a wallet type thing rather than a purse, but I don't know why there would be an issue with using a purse? Whatever works for you.

IndecentFeminist · 03/01/2021 17:22

I don't hold the opinion that purses are outdated etc, but I don't really use one.

I use my phone to pay for most things, including parking. I have a small coin purse that lives in the drawer with the car keys, this has my physical bank card in as well as my driving licence and English heritage card, plus another local attraction. It being there prompts me to take it if I get the keys to go to any of those places.

But otherwise, no, I don't bother with loyalty cards and just carry my phone.

Santaisironingwrappingpaper · 03/01/2021 17:22

Largish purse from River Island bought about 3 years ago. Still going strong!!

BrumBoo · 03/01/2021 17:24

I do, I wish I had a decent alternative but I panic if my card is not in my purse, and then in my bottomless pit bag.

I had a beautiful purse for years, bought for about £2 in a charity shop. Sadly it eventually fell apart, and never found one I 'loved' since then. My current one is alright, cheap and plenty of pockety parts.

SchrodingersImmigrant · 03/01/2021 17:25

Is there a difference between purse and a wallet? I use wallet.

I also used to call handbag a purse and confused the crap out of people before someone told me it's not it!😂

dementedpixie · 03/01/2021 17:27

Does a wallet not fold up? I have quite a big purse to hold all my receipts Grin.

gogalaxy · 03/01/2021 17:28

I use a man's wallet. I don't use any payment apps on my phone as I'm not convinced that it's secure. I have a load of different bank accounts (about 15) and various loyalty cards, so I need somewhere to store them all. I have a separate change purse that rarely gets used, but I'm always glad I have it when the need arises (e.g. finding change for a public toilet).

FraughtwithGin · 03/01/2021 17:29

Mine is a combination of purse and wallet with slots for cards and useful pockets for driving licence, ID card etc as well as a pocket for small change.

DatingDickheads · 03/01/2021 17:30

I don’t own a purse. Card and phone go in my pockets.

IndecentFeminist · 03/01/2021 17:31

Before I had a phone that could make payments I just carried a debit card in my back pocket with my phone.

MsVestibule · 03/01/2021 17:32

Doesn't EVERYBODY have a purse or wallet??! I don't tend to take mine out if the house unless I'm going to a shopping centre (I just take my card if I'm going to the supermarket) but surely it makes sense to keep cards and cash together? We don't use much cash now, but always have some for the DCs pocket money and our local takeaways which are cash only.

DelphineWalsh · 03/01/2021 17:33

I have a coin purse that I don't really carry about anymore. Cards stay at home and I just use my phone.

Angeldust747 · 03/01/2021 17:34

My purse lives in my handbag, but more often than not I use my phone... It's a real pain when I have spent over £45 and have to dig my card out 😂

CherryRoulade · 03/01/2021 17:36

I usually carry a purse rather than a handbag for everyday purposes. I don't often carry my phone though, unless I am working,

WaltzingTilda · 03/01/2021 17:37

I use a wallet/purse type thing that holds my cards and cash etc. But since covid , I just take my card or money with me or if I am going out with dh I put my main card in his wallet. We take the bare minimum when go out as we don't want to be touching too many of our personal belongings before we get to wash our hands properly

FamilyOfAliens · 03/01/2021 17:39

You need to be careful storing your bank cards next to your phone as there’s a danger the magnetic strip on your card can stop working.
thevassal · 03/01/2021 17:40

nope, haven't for at least the last five years. I have a debit card squeezed in the back of my phone case, and when I had an iphone (because apply pay is accepted far more places than the android equivalent) didn't even take that half the time.

Don't know what other cards you'd need to physically carry, I have things like my boots card, club card etc on my phone wallet as apps. Advantage is the majority of the time I can travel light when I go out, no need to take a bag, as my phone and keys can fit in my pockets.

ChrissyHynde · 03/01/2021 17:42

More and more , due to corona I'm not using one, pay on my phone mostly , if I need cash it's a problem !

thevassal · 03/01/2021 17:42

@FamilyOfAliens - I've never had any issues with my bank card not working due to being stored next to my phone in at least five years of them being permanently stored there 24/7. I have had issues with electronic hotel keys not working after being stored next to my phone, even for just a few minutes, though.

Stretchandsnap · 03/01/2021 17:42

I just use my phone now, I have really embraced the tech in 2020
