DP present won’t arrive on time

I ordered one of DPs presents (a pair of premium joggers) weeks ago but sadly delivery is delayed and won’t be here in time for Christmas. The situation is making me so anxious as I think he will try and make me feel bad about the situation. We set a budget between us which I went over and he still has other things to open but I feel immensely guilty and shit over the situation. I don’t know what to do. He is fussy with his clothing and these joggers were exactly his style. I don’t want to run the risk of ordering a different pair online and don’t fancy going to the shops. I could cry.

Could you print out the delay notification and make it into an iou?

DuchessofPemberley · 22/12/2020 08:56

Why would he make you feel bad about the situation?

I think any adult sulking over not getting their present on time, this year of all years, needs a reality check.

HappyChristmasTreeRex · 22/12/2020 08:56

No partner worth having would make you feel like this over a delayed present.

JupiterMoons9 · 22/12/2020 08:57

I thought that but my bloody printer is broken!

Lots of people will have the same issue with the Royal Mail being swamped and deliveries being late. It’s worrying that you feel anxious and know he’ll try to make you feel bad. Is he normally such a baby?

JupiterMoons9 · 22/12/2020 08:58

He can act like this sometimes. I’ll get a guilt trip and feel shit about myself all day

If he's a keeper then he will wait and be grateful for his other gifts. Stop worrying Flowers

RosaBaby2 · 22/12/2020 08:58

Just seen your last comment. He's not a keeper, get rid!!!

BiscuitDrama · 22/12/2020 08:58

Make a voucher on a piece of paper and show him the photo on your phone.

Warn him in advance that it may not arrive.

Also it might still get here, it’s just that they aren’t guaranteeing it? Maybe?

DianaT1969 · 22/12/2020 08:59

He sounds like a twat and I think you know that.

MoiraNotRuby · 22/12/2020 08:59

My 15 year old is getting a picture to unwrap of something stuck in the post, then he can have the item whenever it arrives. I don't expect him to sulk about it so nor should a grown man.

Hope you are ok OP because I've a feeling this is about a nasty partner more than a pair of trousers.

Whatpaint · 22/12/2020 08:59

You’re being ridiculous. He is a grown adult and you can show him your order email if he causes a fuss.

If you’re actually seriously worried about his reaction to this you need to be rethinking your relationship.

JupiterMoons9 · 22/12/2020 08:59

Yeah, he can act like a man child a lot of the time. I honestly just want to cry

Norwester · 22/12/2020 08:59

No one can find this situation surprising this year.

If he makes you feel uncomfortable about it, he's a shit.

Aprilx · 22/12/2020 08:59

There is something not right here OP. You should not be feeling guilty or wanting to cry over a late pair of joggers for an adult’s Christmas present.

BiscuitDrama · 22/12/2020 08:59

Also seen your update. That’s awful.

HappyChristmasTreeRex · 22/12/2020 08:59

If he acts like this regularly why stay? I'm not saying it's an easy path, but you sound unhappy. Or perhaps sit him down and have a talk about changing his attitude, sometimes a reality check can help.

Stompythedinosaur · 22/12/2020 09:00

Surely you can just tell him one of his presents will be late? It's not good if he tries to make you feel bad.

TheFlis12345 · 22/12/2020 09:00

A grown adult would ruin Christmas over a pair of joggers? Get rid.

Palavah · 22/12/2020 09:00

He sounds like a petulant arse if he has form for making you feel bad about that kind of thing.

Do you share all your finances?

Lampan · 22/12/2020 09:01

Sounds like you have bigger issues than his present not arriving on time. Loads of parcels are delayed at the moment and everyone understands that. If it makes you feel better, something I ordered appeared the other day 3 days before the delivery estimate so there is a chance yours will do the same. But your partner sounds at best a bit childish or possibly just a bully.

shitinmyhandsandclap · 22/12/2020 09:01

Sounds like he needs a good dose of grow the fuck up, best Christmas present would be one to yourself...ditch his arse, and his joggers!

Gardeniaofdelights · 22/12/2020 09:01

He sounds horrible - I’d bin him Flowers

JupiterMoons9 · 22/12/2020 09:02

We both earn a good wage and only have a joint account for rent, bills, etc.

FFS, what exactly are you getting from this relationship?

I have never heard anything so pathetic in my life from both of you, he needs to grow up and you need to stop wasting your time with this child.
