Pajama bottoms with backside seams are unhygenic

Fangtiger · 18/12/2020 11:10

Am I the only person who has a problem with the backside seam on pajama bottoms? The seam goes up my bum so I end up wearing night time knickers underneath to stop that happening and to stop having to wash my pjs every day. Do pj bottoms without a backside seam exist? Someone told me M&S had some, but can't find them.

@MrsGrindah

I can’t sleep without knickers on otherwise I feel like I might wet the bed! I’ve no idea why.
I'm exactly the same @MrsGrindah Grin
Confusedandshaken · 18/12/2020 12:43

I've never worn pants at night. When I was younger I just wore big t shirts, now I'm older I wear cotton nighties or pjs. I don't think it's a coincidence that I have never once had thrush BECAUSE MY BITS CAN BREATHE.

Also, just checked my favourite pjs - all have got seams but I've never noticed any chafing.

It's Sod's law that I will probably wake up with a chafed bum and thrush tomorrow.

LilyE1234 · 18/12/2020 12:45

I’ve never realised this is such a divisive topic 😂😂😂

Ive always worn knickers to bed so I must be an unhygienic weirdo but at least I’ve never had thrush or a UTI Halo

Waspnest · 18/12/2020 12:52

I've always worn pants under pyjamas, it would feel weird not to (and I've never had thrush). All this breathing fanny stuff - if your arse area can't cope with a thin piece of cotton across it HTF does it cope with a 10 TOG duvet? Do you wear a snorkel inside your pyjamas?

Mrgrinch · 18/12/2020 12:52

Why wouldn't you wash your pyjamas every day? How many times would you prefer to wear them between washes?

Waspnest · 18/12/2020 12:57

Why wouldn't you wash your pyjamas every day?

Because it would create too much washing? I'm doing washing for us and elderly PILs so 35 pairs of pyjama bottoms plus all the other washing would probably tip me over the edge.

kowari · 18/12/2020 12:58

I agree with those saying they are too small. Though I always wear undies underneath. Tshirt changed every few days, bottoms once a week.

I am a daily washer but that's because I sweat a lot a night. I wash jeans after maybe 3/4 washes and T-shirts after 1 or sometimes after 2 (depending on what I've been doing). I wouldn't judge someone for wearing the same PJs twice or three times before washing. Most people wash or shower daily.
pinkbalconyrailing · 18/12/2020 12:59

that's what pants are for

Diva66 · 18/12/2020 13:03

@PurpleDaisies

You need those arse flap ones that keep being advertised on here. I kept wondering who would ever buy them.

Nightshirts do away with these issues of suction.

SoupDragon · 18/12/2020 13:07

It is just coincidence. I've never once had thrush either.

Unless you are sleeping with your arse out of the covers, nothing is getting an airing at all.

likeamillpond · 18/12/2020 13:08

@Bluntness100

Are your pyjama bottoms too small for you? Why does the seam go up your arse?
Your bum EATS your pyjamas? How BIG is it? Shock
AlwaysLatte · 18/12/2020 13:09

I think if you wear anything on your bum or fanny with no knickers it should be washed every day anyway, like you do knickers.

firesong · 18/12/2020 13:09

I hate wearing knickers in bed. Or pj bottoms. It's not that the OP is in ones that are too small, though. I know what she means, and mine are all very baggy. I just wear them in the evening with knickers and then change to naked / nightie for sleep. There must be some seamless pjs about!

goopsoup · 18/12/2020 13:10

I always wear pants when sleeping and I've never had thrush.

Do you wash after a poo? I think that's key.

AlwaysLatte · 18/12/2020 13:10

I'm currently in bed wearing pants and jeans
Jeans in bed?

Anyway, I wear pants with pyjamas but I only wear pyjamas out of bed. When I go to bed I strip n'kd and sleep like that. Bare bum to sheets.

Deal with that mumsnet Shock

Yes me too. Can't bear (bare!) being all trussed up in clothes at night.
EmbarrassingMama · 18/12/2020 13:12

@butterycooler

Just sleep in the nip. Problem solved.
Preach. Can't understand how anyone can wear clothes to bed. My legs get in a tangle.
AlwaysLatte · 18/12/2020 13:13

Anyway, wear a nightie!

ChocolateCherrybomb · 18/12/2020 13:19

Your fanny needs to breath?

Who knew? I thought the snuffling noises and snoring I heard in the night were DH but now I'll have to reconsider as it now turns out that it might be my noisy fanny that's waking me up at 4am.

Herja · 18/12/2020 13:19

OP, Primark! They have lovely jersey pyjama bottoms with no arse seams. Patterns vary, but they always have some somewhere abouts! have no issues with my arse eating my pyjamas, but I prefer fewer seams as I find them generally uncomfortable.

JustGotToKeepOnKeepingOn · 18/12/2020 13:20

I wear pants under pyjamas, but I only wear pyjamas around the house. I take pyjamas off to go to bed Grin
