Pajama bottoms with backside seams are unhygenic

Fangtiger · 18/12/2020 11:10

Am I the only person who has a problem with the backside seam on pajama bottoms? The seam goes up my bum so I end up wearing night time knickers underneath to stop that happening and to stop having to wash my pjs every day. Do pj bottoms without a backside seam exist? Someone told me M&S had some, but can't find them.

DontStopThinkingAboutTomorrow

I've slept in the nip for about 20 years and have never had an issue with any of those! But a dressing gown to hand for evacuation emergencies solves that issue and I reckon the sight of me in the night would scare any burglars away (if they'd already got past the dogs) Grin

@AfterSchoolWorry

I have pants on at all times, except while in the shower.

White cotton for night and black cotton for day. I don't like the sensation of being pantless.

you've never lived :) Get your knicks off and get to enjoy the air around you!

@Bluntness100

Are your pyjama bottoms too small for you? Why does the seam go up your arse?
😂 😂 😂
DickAndSizzy · 18/12/2020 12:15

Sometimes mn out mn's itself Grin

Anyway, I wear pants with pyjamas but I only wear pyjamas out of bed. When I go to bed I strip n'kd and sleep like that. Bare bum to sheets.

Deal with that mumsnet Shock

@fitbciz1

Am I the only one wondering how it’s possible to make PJ bottoms without a crotch seam? How would that work?
Very large harem pants type things. They would take a lot of fabric because right and left legs would have to be cut together, back and front separately, with plenty of gathering and a baggy crotch.
tinkywinkyshandbag · 18/12/2020 12:18

Don't wear pyjamas and let your bum breathe

tinkywinkyshandbag · 18/12/2020 12:20

Also why is your bum hole so dirty that your pyjamas brushing against it in the night is a major health hazard? It's not like you eat your breakfast off the inside of your pyjama bottoms!

SoupDragon · 18/12/2020 12:20

Your bum doesn't need to breathe. It has no lungs.
Missyox · 18/12/2020 12:21

Omg 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😍

TDogsInHats · 18/12/2020 12:23

Let me offer a word of caution.
If you are conditioned not to wear underwear at night, consider when you are elderly and refuse to change your habits.
So failing eyesight and insufficient hygiene means ,those who sleep nude or in a knicker less nightie, will make a right mess of the bedsheetsSad
I speak as a carer, your bottom area does not have lungs and does not need to breathe 😂

Poppyolive90 · 18/12/2020 12:23

Just don’t wear anything, much easier. Super quick shower before bed, cosy quilt, job done.

Missyox · 18/12/2020 12:24

This made me laugh

JinglingHellsBells · 18/12/2020 12:24

MN seems to be full of prudes who always want to keep their bums covered.

In the old days women and men wore nightshirts. Presumably 'easy access' was one reason :)

And women did not wear knickers with gussets.

Bloomers were two legs on a waist band with - shock- and open gusset.

fitbciz1 · 18/12/2020 12:24

@CaptainMyCaptain exactly, they’d need to be enormous. Although that might solve the arse-eating problem!

I feel that anyone going around peering at the regular PJs in M&S for a pair without a crotch seam is going to be disappointed.

No, I also have this question, and I sew. I've made pyjama bottoms without side seams, but you need a curve in the bum.

People. Not prudes, just people.

FightingWithTheWind · 18/12/2020 12:32

It is better for you to not wear knickers to bed though, wearing knickers at night can contribute to thrush and other problems. Also you would still wear knickers in bed when you have a period and need to wear pads, or if your pregnant and experiencing more discharge than usual.

Eh, you know there is nothing wrong with folks keeping their arses covered you know. No need to be outragees and call folks prudish, you can keep getting yours out of you wish.. 😂

This thread is making me laugh too. The only way your pyjamas give you a wedgie is if they are too small for you. The solution is to wear bigger pyjamas.

NoIDontWatchLoveIsland · 18/12/2020 12:35

They ARE too tight if they are going up your arse, regardless what size you are buying.

Or choose a different style that aren't like leggings. Mine are cotton and are completely loose around my bottom and I am a size 14 so not rail thin.

NoIDontWatchLoveIsland · 18/12/2020 12:36

Ps yes yes to just buying a night shirt instead too.

DontStopThinkingAboutTomorrow · 18/12/2020 12:36

I'm a fat arsed size 18-20 and don't ever have PJ bottoms up my arse. But I buy fairly loose style ones, perhaps it's the style that's the issue.

madcatladyforever · 18/12/2020 12:38

Now I am divorced I wear a baggy granny nightie. I love it. My bits get an airing and it's really cosy.

MrsHugsxx · 18/12/2020 12:39

I wear clean pjs every night but I really don't get why anyone would wear the same pair twice while they've had no knickers on. Do you change your knickers daily? It's the same thing.

fitbciz1 · 18/12/2020 12:40

@drspouse - yes, I’ve made plenty without side seams, but the crotch seam seems pretty essential if you want somewhere for your bum to go!

Crazycakelady17 · 18/12/2020 12:42

This thread has made my day 😂 simple sleep nude I do and pjs with underwear for skinning round then the pjs last a few wears win win 👍
