To ask what's the weirdest reason you have decided to not go on a second date with someone?

Just imagine you are on a first date with someone and it's going good until...that moment they say or do something that instantly switches your brain to "nope."

I had a first date with someone after chatting to them for a few weeks. It was going well and we were walking through one of my favourite country parks (beautiful) with a takeaway coffee when he decided to dump the empty cup on the floor, when there were bins dotted around everywhere. And that was the moment right there that couldn't be undone. I guess I don't like litterbugs 🤷‍♀️

So, tell me, what was their crime? Big, small, weird, wonderful or other.

Oh, and someone once patted me on the head. I felt like a good dog rather than a potential girlfriend.

Never on a date, but someone I vaguely knew and hadn't decided whether I found attractive or not turned up wearing their mobile phone in a little pouch on their belt. That killed any potential for me, although I was also a bit horrified at how shallow that must make me. To be fair I don't think even that could have put me off DH so I must have just not fancied him.

I'd be with you on the littering and head patting - no way.

First one, turned out he was on bail for robbery.
Second one, opened up about his assault conviction.
Third one, spent the whole time talking about his argument with his ex in the pub the night before.
Fourth one, we looked in a furniture shop window and he picked out a chair that looked like something Prince might have furnished his set with in Purple Rain, if that video was like a supped up Purple Rain on speed version, he thought it was really lovely and would look great in his apartment 😱
I gave up after that and have had no first dates since. And this was about 6 years ago!

MozzchopsThirty · 14/12/2020 20:09

Oh so many:

I don't drive, I don't see why I need to
I live with my mum
Our dd didn't have any vaccinations
My DS is home schooled

MobLife · 14/12/2020 20:11

He turned up in a hat that I really didn't like.....that was it. Done.

I just couldn't get past the hat!

BadgertheBodger · 14/12/2020 20:11

I went on one date with a guy who was very attractive and about 15 years older than me when I was 22. The date was lovely, a few glasses of wine and some nibbles at a posh pub, there was a very nice kiss...all good. Until he text me 45 times over the next 24 hours and then threw a strop when I told him to back the fuck off. Bullet dodged there!

tiredqueen · 14/12/2020 20:13

I was speaking to a guy online about 15yrs and we were getting on quite well. We decided to meet one night for drinks after I finished work and went to a cocktail bar. I took a change of clothes and got dressed up nicely but not too over done. He came in a fruit of the loom t shirt, unbrushed hair and scabby trainers. I was not impressed.

BreakfastOfWaffles · 14/12/2020 20:14

Years ago, I went on a date with a guy who mentioned three times during the evening that he had a fetish for pink balloons....

ButtWormHole · 14/12/2020 20:15

Dumped him after our first date. It was awful.

Now we are married with kids

Wrenna · 14/12/2020 20:15

I was ‘shushed’ on a first date after I got into the car because he was listening to some program! We didn’t even know each other! Buh bye!

raspberryk · 14/12/2020 20:16

He licked his knife!

SnowDogFarts · 14/12/2020 20:18

@raspberryk

He licked his knife!
It makes my teeth itch when I see that. That is definitely an offence.

We had known each other a while, went on one date, talking about winning the lotto and he said that he would buy a mansion for me, him and the kids to live in, but the kids wouldn't be allowed into the ensuite in our room 🤣🤣

I didn't want to live in mansion where my kids were excluded from any room, so I didn't go on another date with him.

LazyLucille · 14/12/2020 20:19

I didn't like his finger nails. Something about men with the whites of their nails showing that puts me off.

SnowDogFarts · 14/12/2020 20:21

And the one who kept going in for a kiss, but he kept chewing and sucking on my bottom lip, not in a soft sexy way which might be ok, but in a way that would probably happen if you tried to snog Henry Hoover. I just wanted my bottom lip back 😳

He was speaking and a massive globule of spit flew out of his moth and straight into my eye. He said sorry. I was mortified / repulsed and got the ick right then and there.

sbhydrogen · 14/12/2020 20:22

🙈 I hate this!
sbhydrogen · 14/12/2020 20:23

...as in, I hate long fingernails

fairydustandpixies · 14/12/2020 20:24

First date with someone I'd chatted to online for a few weeks. Met at a posh yacht club (his suggestion), had a drink and then he asked where I lived and then said that his stuff was all in the locker room, he didn't drive but he was so excited about leaving home but 'mummy' didn't know yet. He was 42. I made my excuses to use the loo and dived out the back door, into my car and left a shower of gravel behind me as I wheel span in my ancient Peugeot out of the posh yacht club drive!

ImEatingVeryHealthilyOhYes · 14/12/2020 20:25

Over the course of the date he looked more and more exactly like a younger version of my grandad. Couldn’t unsee it

Heatherjayne1972 · 14/12/2020 20:29

He said he ‘had a rule’ on dates
No mobile phones
I’d only checked it once to see if my kids had called - we’d been having coffee for two hours Phone was on silent in my bag!

FetchezLaVache · 14/12/2020 20:30

How...?
Funkyfriends · 14/12/2020 20:32

A friend set me up with a friend of hers, went on a date, all was going well so we talked about meeting up for a second date. He then told me that we couldn’t go to a restaurant as he can only eat puréed foods. Apparently he didn’t get on with solid food when he was younger so he has always had his meals puréed. 😲😲. Needless to say we didn’t go on a second date.

Who needs enemies with friends like that 🤣🤣.

dontmesswiththeGC · 14/12/2020 20:35

@Funkyfriends wow I was just talking to a friend who's struggling with weaning her baby and to make her feel better said 'just remember, you don't know any adults still on purées!'

FetchezLaVache · 14/12/2020 20:35

I went on a date with a very posh bloke who seriously didn't believe it was neurologically possible for women to get their pretty little heads round the rules of cricket.
