Nice to see a MNer doing well.

Don't get me wrong, IT Crowd is brilliant, but every syllable and shot of Father Ted is deranged perfection.

I can watch those Priests trapped in a lingerie department a thousand times and not be bored.

Well, there’s no need to put Mr L on a pedal stool, and you seem to be implying IT Crowd is a damp squid in comparison to Father Ted. 😉
Seriously though, they’re both genius and I couldn’t choose between them. Luckily I don’t have to as DDs have them on almost constant rotation.

You definitely should have enabled voting OP, you might have had the first ever MN 100% YANBU!!

For me, it's a bit like saying a lamb dinner is better than a cooked breakfast. They aren't the same thing, but they are both my joint favourite meals. You can't 'compare' comedy other than subjectively. I love a bit of Father Ted, but the IT crowd is spot on too. I also have just started re- watching the early episodes of the Royle Family - again, a completely different type of comedy, but brilliantly written and acted. Just depends what mood you are in, and what you've watched recently. How can Black Adder not be right up there ?

Yet, comedy is subjective - there are a few highly acclaimed sitcoms I never found funny at all - Ab Fab and The Young Ones to name two. My Mum never found Black Adder funny, when me and my sister were rolling around, when it first came out.

Stop putting GL on a pedal stool, OP. Wink

The IT crowd makes me laugh like a drain every time. I still love Jen's presentation of The Internet Grin

Madhairday · 12/11/2020 23:02

Oops just saw Judas got there before me. That'll teach me to RTFT Grin

Ginfordinner · 12/11/2020 23:05

I think they are as funny as each other.

KittCat · 12/11/2020 23:05

Definitely Father Ted!

PapsofJura · 12/11/2020 23:08

I told my 8 year old the other day that the box in the corner is the internet. I give it about a year before he figures out that has as much truth in it as my other story of the moon/cheese 🤪

TitianaTitsling · 12/11/2020 23:08

Those cows are far away....

donquixotedelamancha · 12/11/2020 23:10

Oh good god no. It's an utter joy - the box with the internet in is one of the great moments of TV; but is it as good as kicking bishop Brennan up the arse?

Well, there’s no need to put Mr L on a pedal stool

:-)

Fair point. They should have had joint winners.

This should have been the winner...

Ha, just realised I missed that one.

Kicking Bishop Brennan up the arse will never be bettered.

nocoolnamesleft · 12/11/2020 23:20

Escaping from the largest lingerie department in Ireland.

Davros · 12/11/2020 23:22

G.A.Y the Musical was masterful

Madhairday · 12/11/2020 23:25

A fire in a sea parks and Jen's Italian translation Grin

Amber2384 · 13/11/2020 00:05

My lovely horse running through the....field 😂

MrsMoastyToasty · 13/11/2020 00:11

G'wan g'wan g'wan.

Paddingtonjuice · 13/11/2020 00:19

I love them both but Father Ted is one of the funniest comedies ever in my opinion. I made the mistake of watching it once whilst my child was wandering about. It was awful. He spoke of nothing else but kicking bishop Brennan up the arse for days. He was only 6 Blush.

Otherplans · 13/11/2020 00:21

Yanbu Father Ted is a perfect universe

donquixotedelamancha · 13/11/2020 00:24

What are you talking about? I would be so proud.

Before my Nephew could say 50 words he could say drink, girls, feck and arse. My DSis found out what I was doing before he mastered 'that would be an ecumenical matter'.

stillsomewhatsheldonesque · 13/11/2020 00:28

Both are sublime. I cannot choose as it depends on my humour on the day.

For me though, it is Partridge all the way.

We have a thing at our very serious work where we fit in an Alanism in our calls. It really never gets old.

I am desperate to have a situation where I can try and use ‘Lynn these are sex people’ but it is unlikely to ever happen. And Lynn went to work in a nursery so that makes it even more unlikely. Sad

stillsomewhatsheldonesque · 13/11/2020 00:30

But we all do the Father Jack being sorry so maybe Ted wins for that Smile

jewel1968 · 13/11/2020 00:33

I was in studio audience for an episode of Fr Ted many years ago. Love love love Fr Ted!

Spiderbaby8 · 13/11/2020 00:33

I like I.T crowd but Father Ted is my favourite. Now got my lovely horse in my stuck head.

I guess Ted would get top spot on any best Irish sitcom list, although it was made by channel 4.
