This is fascinating--on the Never Trump experience of conservatives and Republicans:

www.theatlantic.com/ideas/archive/2020/10/my-never-trump-elegy/616917/

'These late conversions to opposing Trump mean nothing, at least to me. The experience of fighting taught the Never Trumpers how much the president had poisoned the Republican Party and long ago exposed the character of many of our former comrades. Some turned out to be as racist and authoritarian as Trump himself, while others merely confirmed that they were little more than vacuous opportunists who were capable of betraying the Constitution at will.'

The sun is shining. All will be well.

@TheNorthWestPawsage

From The Hill report that Trump may continue campaigning after Nov 3rd:

“There’s been discussions about travel opportunities for Trump and his family if we don’t have a result on Election Day, but nothing definitive on where he would go or how many people we would deploy,” another campaign aide told Politico.

How about the dark side of the moon? (No quarantine necessary)

Can you imagine Trump in a space suit?
AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 31/10/2020 13:47

He wouldn't be physically able for take-off.

I am channelling the Blessed Julian of Norwich

All shall be well, and all shall be well and all manner of thing shall be well.

Love that one. Smile

I am definitely not being quite sane about this. I fell asleep with the radio on, and during the night woke several times expecting it to be about election results with each news bulletin I vaguely heard, and was surprised when there was nothing about it.

In fact I spent a while in a half-waking state working out time differences to try to understand why there was nothing about the US election on the World Service!

@maggiethecat

My sister lives in the US and recalled last night how she went to bed in 2016 seeing that the Dems had done well in a number of states and then woke up to hear Trump had won and felt she was in the twilight zone 🤣

Can't bear the thought!

was the same in the referendum. it looked as if it was 'in' when I went to bet and was'out' when I woke up.

@AcrossthePond55 - thank you very much for the explanation. I have more questions about the EC but am on phone app so will wait till another time or perhaps forget it till after the election, depending on the results!

Roussette · 31/10/2020 18:17

Love it. Just added it to my Twitter.

WASHINGTON — A group of Stanford University economists who created a statistical model estimate that there have been at least 30,000 coronavirus infections and 700 deaths as a result of 18 campaign rallies President Trump held from June to September.
