Trump the trumpet at his rally... i cant find the words

OP posts:
BruceAndNosh · 30/10/2020 01:17

Explain Trump's rallies to me...
I would have thought that anyone who turns up to a rally is already a devoted Trump supporter. Anyone who watches it on tv and goes "hell, yeah" is also already going to vote for him.
If you're undecided, are they really going to change your mind? Surely an undecided voter will look at both sides and maybe realise there is a better alternative!

www.nbcnews.com/politics/2020-election/heat-trump-rally-sends-dozen-attendees-hospital-n1245397

Two days ago in Omaha some of his attendees ended up freezing with some being taken to hospital. Today, some of his attendees end up in hospital with heat stroke. WTF?

My DH said that Rob Reiner ('Meathead' from All in the Family) was saying that now that he 'expects' to lose, he just wants to cause as much mayhem as he can and he doesn't care who he hurts. Super-spreader events, heatstroke, hypothermia, he just wants to kill as many people as he can. I'm beginning to believe it.

Oh dear, I posted twice last night, and my link didn't work, try again

drive.google.com/file/d/1Zmb7BCcd6lkOsmmG_rwPvVGS17G6a59i/view?usp=sharing

At one of his cult rallies...

'Several attendees were helped out by medical attendees because of the heat. Its 86 degrees and muggy. There was a fire hydrant or hose that was behind the crowd shooting water into the air for a while to provide some relief from a mist.
When Trump noticed it, he called attention to the waterworks and said to the crowd: "Are they friend or foe? ... Let's find out if they're friend or foe. And if they're foe, let's take care of those sonofabitches'.

So... it was unbearably hot, and the crowd were being treated by water hoses, but that means it could be people pretending to be too hot to make Trumpy look bad? Have I got that right?

This is interesting.

It’s interesting that Bloomberg decided to pour millions into Ohio and Texas, and doesn’t feel the need to protect the Midwest. He’s a data driven person - he knows what’s up. He doesn’t just want Trump to lose, he wants him to lose in humiliation- which I find rather delicious.

TheNorthWestPawsage · 30/10/2020 08:14

Feeling very antsy. I just want Tuesday to be over.

Trump's rally behaviour will look 'normal' compared to what he says and does if he gets re-elected.

Roussette · 30/10/2020 08:35

And me NorthWest, I feel life is on hold until after the election.

If he won (and I keep saying that because I dont want to jinx anything) I cannot bear to listen to the aftermath from the very worst people imaginable.

My DH is just not interested but me and the DCs are on absolute tenterhooks, we can barely talk about it.

It is interesting. Both Trump and Biden had been going up in Texas, but Trump has suddently gone down 1,5 points to what looks like a 2,3 advantage, with the most recent poll only at 1.

Roussette · 30/10/2020 12:08

So Trump is planning three more Pennsylvania rallies despite Doctors begging him not to.
Not for his health
For the health of the people at the superspreader events

AcrossthePond55 · 30/10/2020 12:33

It is stress-making, isn't it? The wait until it's all over.

I do 'sort of' OK with news coverage of rallies, speeches, etc. Just the usual level of frustration. But I've found that I have to hit 'mute' or flick channels when they start talking about poll numbers. I just don't want to hear about it.

Plus, IMHO, it's all going to end up in the courts anyway for one reason or another.

We've started doing an 'Autumn Cleaning' to keep us away from the TV and occupied doing something with a definite positive result.

Plus, the 1st episode of the 2nd season of Mandalorian drops today. 👍🏼

Roussette · 30/10/2020 12:44

I wonder if anyone on here has watched Netflix's 'Veep'? One of the DCs says 'Mum, you will love it', but as it has lots of episodes/seasons I'm worried I'll get hooked, but maybe I should look at it to distract myself until next week!

(It's about a fictional VP of the US and is a comedy)

Lweji · 30/10/2020 12:50

I've watched a couple of episodes or scenes from it on YouTube. Not on my Netflix, unfortunately.
I would be hooked, indeed.

I suspect Trump's people base their experience of the WH on it.

Roussette · 30/10/2020 13:09

Ooooh might have a look in then. Thanks.

CNN are reporting Trumpy has cancelled plans to spend election night at his hotel, instead to remain in the WH.

Perhaps he can't face the embarrassment of losing....
Shame he sold fundraising tickets for this

I'm just reading about Texas... votes in advance are about to reach 9M which is more than has ever voted in Texas and still 5 days to go. I read that if Biden wins Texas, it's all over, is that right?

Thanks Cacacois a good recommendation!

TheNorthWestPawsage · 30/10/2020 13:51

Veep is glorious! I watched it when it was first broadcast (more or less) so it may not be as funny now... If you watched and enjoyed "In The Thick Of It" (sweary Malcolm Tucker and UK government) then you should like Veep - same writer (Armando Ianucci) and director for initial few series.

He'll be shredding the evidence and crying in the WH bunker. (À la a certain moustachioed dictator of yore)
AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 30/10/2020 14:06

I hope that is votes cast at a polling station and so, less likely to be accused of being in some way fake if they are not for Trump. I'm fairly sure mail-in ballots will be under a lot of extra scrutiny this election, and some way may be found to hold them back for inspection and then say they were too late to be counted.

Roussette · 30/10/2020 14:53

I want him to be home alone on election night. Melania on another floor of the WH and ignoring him.

Him curled up in the foetal position crying. With a half empty bucket of KFC next to him.
Sorry. I know I'm being vindictive but he's put us on this thread, the whole of the US, the world, through hell these last 4 years

The unions are preparing for a fight.

Fingers crossed it won't be needed.

Detroitdarkcafe · 30/10/2020 15:21

Hi. Checking in from the west coast. I'm hoping for total trump humiliation at the polls, a loud "no thanks" to hatred. I'm more than nervous about Tuesday. His supporters are very visible. I'm actually quite concerned about the possibility of violence, the havoc Trump will wreck if he's not re elected, and the prospect of four more years makes me want to weep.

AcrossthePond55 · 30/10/2020 15:27

@Roussette I think there's a lot of 'if this, then that' when it comes to that kind of prediction. If Biden wins Texas or Iowa or Pennsylvania or Michigan or 'it's all over'. I think bottom line is that no one really knows and we won't know until we do know. I think that's why I find all the polls and predictions so, not exactly upsetting, but emotionally stressful. I feel it's like when one is in hard labour and with every contraction they say 'just one more push and you'll have your baby!'. You just want to shout 'shut up and quit telling me something that you actually don't know!".

After the elections, how long until the new senators take their roles?

@Cacacoisfarraige They're sworn in on 3 Jan 2021.
