To say that Tom Hardy as James Bond is all wrong

I just cannot get my head around him being the new James Bond. He just isn’t that. I know exactly what he will do to James Bond and if I know that already, why would I want to see the movie?
Please give us someone else. 😖

YANBU to express a preference over a film casting choice, no.

DontTouchTheMoustache · 20/09/2020 14:53

Totally disagree, he is a good actor with a really good range so I think you are being unfair

Wibblypiggly · 20/09/2020 14:53

Are you mad? Have you ever read the books? He is perfect for James Bond. He plays ‘flawed’ perfectly. He has incredible presence. And he’s banging.

Wildthingsx · 20/09/2020 14:54

James Bond is meant to be a well educated Englishman - not saying Tom Hardy isn’t but he always brings a working class ‘bitta rough’ to roles

Which is great Grin but not for bond !!!

BoringBarrington · 20/09/2020 14:54

Please God that is not true! Mumble, mumble, grunt, grunt, mumble, moody look and repeat.

NancyBotwinBloom · 20/09/2020 14:54

Oh I love him he is gorgeous.

I think he will be a good James Bond.

minipie · 20/09/2020 14:55

YANBU OP, he’s great in many ways but James Bond he is not.

strawberrysandpecans · 20/09/2020 14:56

YABU I was surprised at first but when I thought about it I could see that he would be good

KatherineJaneway · 20/09/2020 14:56

Is this rumour?

CitizenFame · 20/09/2020 14:57

I thought exactly the same when I heard Daniel Craig announced and I think he has grown into the role. I’ve never seen one single Bond film though, I’m just going by what other people say lol.

Nikori · 20/09/2020 14:57

I still remember the outrage when Daniel Craig became Bond. Everyone said he was completely wrong for the role.

Tom Hardy is a good actor. He can bring something else to the role.

cheekaa · 20/09/2020 14:59

I also am not happy about Tom Hardy being cast as James Bond because I think he is such an excellent actor that by playing Bond he may limit his chances by being typecast in the future.
Just saw him in The Drop two nights ago for the third time and just love watching him act!! And Locke , that was master piece!

Totickleamockingbird · 20/09/2020 15:01

I have seen enough of Tom Hardy’s range to know exactly what he will bring to the table. And that is not a James Bond vibe. Not only the rest of the options are much better in that respect, they can actually cast someone who is not that mainstream yet but is a great talent. We have many actors who will make the role their own. If we know what an actor will do to a role (a very ‘done’ role too!), why cast him there? I couldn’t imagine what Batman will look like with Bale but knew exactly what Affleck will do to it. I have the same feeling here again. Sad

I thought Bond was at least 6ft and they stuck to this with casting? I personally think they missed out not casting Toby Stephens as Bond (obviously can't now as he's already been a Bond villain), he ticks all the boxes and was brilliant as Bond when the beeb did the Bond radio dramas.

BELLAARA · 20/09/2020 15:01

Nahhh, he's not refined enough

Ian Fleming said the same about Sean Connery ...

I just hope TH insists on Bond having a dog, preferably a scruffy mutt.

HarlanWillYouStopNamingNuts · 20/09/2020 15:06

Yes, Locke was amazing, apart from the dodgy Welsh accent. Not sure how much actual acting is required for Bond, so if anything I think it would be a step down for him.

Bulblasagne · 20/09/2020 15:08

James bond should remain, after dc suckled the role dry...

Humourous, glint in the eye, cheeky... Light hearted

Unfortunately dc just made him the usual bland ish action figure...

Someone with laughing eyes, lightness and humour...

My thoughts too. if they are not going all Dr Who or bringing in Idris Elba, they might as well stay all traditional.

I think he would be a good choice but they should maybe have got someone less well known. Though i expect they were thinking of the box office.

Quite interesting. I feel that Sam Heughan, Charlie Hannam and Henry Cavill can do that. Also, Tom Hiddleston is another obvious choice. All are excellent actors too.

There isn’t going to be box office any time soon. So they might as well do something truly radical.

I believe that it is only rumoured.

RainbowParadise · 20/09/2020 15:15

Henry Cavill would surely be the perfect choice now, he was too young when he originally auditioned but surely the right age now?

God how I loved him in The Tudors 🥰😂
