To say that Tom Hardy as James Bond is all wrong

I just cannot get my head around him being the new James Bond. He just isn’t that. I know exactly what he will do to James Bond and if I know that already, why would I want to see the movie?
Please give us someone else. 😖

He is a fantastic actor, personally I think a role like Bond is beneath him and could potentially limit future roles.

Nikori · 20/09/2020 15:35

@TheMarzipanDildo

“The studio do not want a gay actor.”

Why not? The sexy bits are acting so what difference would it make?

I don't know why, but I guess they are old-fashioned. I just want to be clear that personally, I do not agree with this, but from what I've read this is what they have said, no women, no black actors, no gay actors.

There are a lot of articles in the press about Richard Madden and his roommates. I believe his latest "roommate" is very young.

Henry Cavill has a horrible reputation and apparently likes teens. He's good-looking though, so still gets work, but the Bond people don't want to deal with all that.

Armi · 20/09/2020 15:36

I hope he doesn’t do that fucking awful whispery voice.

Because the film would tank in Japan, Russia, China, loads of countries actually but I think they’re the 3 where most money is made from cinema

This is the first thought that came to my mind. Grin

I was hoping it would be Idris Elba who would be cast as Bond.
But I think Tom Hardy will pull off the role well Smile

FridayHappyDay · 20/09/2020 15:42

I just hope TH insists on Bond having a dog, preferably a scruffy mutt.

I thought that too! Grin

Agree that Cavill is a lawsuit for sexual harrasment waiting to happen. No way the Bond team would touch that with a bargepole.

Sam Heughan has been chomping for the role for some time, but clearly not to be.

Charlie Hunnam isn't a strong enough actor, except in exactly the right circumstances (sadly, because he is yum).

If Tom Hardy brings a dog, then I'm in Grin

LST · 20/09/2020 15:44

I think yab massively u. Sorry. I think he would make a perfect James Bond.

YourVagesty · 20/09/2020 15:45

Remember when Tom Hiddleston looked like a shoe-in. He was even photographed having cosy meetings with Sam Mendez.

And then the whole Taylor Swift thing, making a tit of himself on talk shows and dodgy photo shoots.

Amazing how something came that close to being Bond and then just bungee jumped away at 10000000 miles per hour.

Covert20 · 20/09/2020 15:47

The most overrated, hammiest actor I can think of...sounds perfect for James Bond...🤣

SplunkPostGres · 20/09/2020 15:47

I wanted Fassbender 😔

TruffleShuffles · 20/09/2020 15:49

Have none of you seen inception where Tom Hardy played a posh suave Englishman in a fancy suit? He was brilliant in that so I don’t see how he wouldn’t make a great bond. Hiddleston, Cavill, Norton and a few others mentioned I just think come across as very dull and wouldn’t bring anything of interest to bond at all. With Tom Hardy at least you’ll get a bit of rough, I can’t see that with many others rumoured.

Wibblypiggly · 20/09/2020 15:53

@lolacola77 what a tremendous use of language. Bravo. And I totally agree.

fishonabicycle · 20/09/2020 15:53

James Norton or Tom hardy would be ok, and is the right age. Idris Elba would have been ace but is too old, unfortunately.

Shosha1 · 20/09/2020 15:55

It should have been Sam Heughan. Right age, right height. Does a good toffs accent, either English or Scots. Has that twinkle too.

To say that Tom Hardy as James Bond is all wrong
yelyah22 · 20/09/2020 15:56

I think Tom Hardy would be great! Might also be trying to get Bond to appeal to a wider audience as it's still seen as a bit toffy...?

Yeah absolutely this! He can look like a killer, a lover and a conspirator all at the same time.

Still better than the requests for a FEMALE James Bond... FFS where will it end.

Oh I don’t know. I am watching Ozark these days and I can fully believe how danger, humour and sexy vibes can look alive in a woman when she is not even moving a finger, let alone fighting a lethal fight. I would be the first to get the cinema ticket, Covid or not, to see a female James Bond done right.
OP posts:
Totickleamockingbird · 20/09/2020 16:03

Also, don’t forget it’s all about the numbers. If a woman pulls in the numbers, they will pull a woman in. Grin

If they don’t go with a female bond they could structure a bond film around a film character more, rather than Bond being the main focus/hero in the film.

Forgot to add: he will also not need that extra effort to erase the bad/scruffy guy image first that follows Tom Hardy. So yes, Sam Heughan please.

To those saying Tom Hardy isn't refined enough/seems too working class bit of rough for the role:
He's the son of a novelist and an artist. He went to private school. He's posh.

ILoveYou3000 · 20/09/2020 16:08

I wanted Fassbender 😔

Sadly, his focus is now on his racing which makes him virtually uninsurable, especially for something like Bond.

I'd also says he's far too talented for the role.

Tom Hardy is too. Very versatile. I think he'll pull it off though and bring something fresh to the character, while retaining the essence of Bond.

Inthemuckheap · 20/09/2020 16:10

Colin Firth would make a good Bond. If it's Tom Hardy I hope he shaves. I can't stand facial hair on a man and especially not on Bond. Personally thought Sean Connery was awful and love DC.
