To say that Tom Hardy as James Bond is all wrong

I just cannot get my head around him being the new James Bond. He just isn’t that. I know exactly what he will do to James Bond and if I know that already, why would I want to see the movie?
Please give us someone else. 😖

Tom Ellis after Lucifer is finished.

TheDecencyToChangeTheSheets · 20/09/2020 16:12

They missed out by not using Clive Owen when he was younger.

anorangeaday · 20/09/2020 16:13

I think he could be good

TheDecencyToChangeTheSheets · 20/09/2020 16:14

Isn't Tom Hardy too strongly linked with Venom franchise though, same as Henry Cavill is too closely aligned with Superman?

FenellaVelour · 20/09/2020 16:17

@Armi

I hope he doesn’t do that fucking awful whispery voice.
He’s bound to do some kind of ridiculous voice. Comes as standard.

Yes. He would have been far better than PB. Tom Ellis is awesome in Lucifer but he will need a beard and that is not James Bond I think. If people do accept a bearded Bond, Ellis can be great then.

I was only half-serious - I love Tom in Lucifer and he has certainly buffed up but Bond would be a challenge - I am amazed in all this time I have never noticed he always has a beard/stubble. I must have been distracted Wink

TheDecencyToChangeTheSheets · 20/09/2020 16:26

I also think Tom Hiddlestone - Tayto, never forget - isn't awful if channelling Night Manager Tom. He was fantastic in that.

AuntyPasta · 20/09/2020 16:32

I’m just glad Daniel Craig is finally going.

SillyUnMurphy · 20/09/2020 16:36

@Wildthingsx

James Bond is meant to be a well educated Englishman - not saying Tom Hardy isn’t but he always brings a working class ‘bitta rough’ to roles

Which is great Grin but not for bond !!!

Tom H is actually really well spoken. Have you seen him in Inception? He has a nice ‘well educated Englishman’ accent in that.
MrsTerryPratchett · 20/09/2020 16:42

It's never someone that well known. They always float a lot of very well-known names for the media attention then pick a less famous actor. Less money to pay them and a wider pool to pick from.

allthegoodusernameshavegone · 20/09/2020 16:47

Toby Jones would be a fantastic James Bond, he’s a brilliant actor & his love interest could be Idris Elba or James Cordon. With the villain played by Maggie Smith

MandalaYogaTapestry · 20/09/2020 16:47

I hope he at least shaves for the role! 😟😟

Thatnameistaken · 20/09/2020 16:55

I've not watched any Bond films since Connery/Moore, but I might just watch this new one....

TheYeaSayer · 20/09/2020 16:57

There hasn't been an announcement has there? May not be TH. Its still anyone's guess.

Anyway I find Tom Hardy to be a bit underwhelming and so so ordinary looking; like one of the school dads.

AldiAisleofCrap · 20/09/2020 16:59

I was initially really confused as to why an Olympic swimmer was going to play James Bond.

Clarke45 · 20/09/2020 16:59

I'm still holding out for Idris...... long shot I know!

UpToonGirl · 20/09/2020 16:59

You are all killing me with these rumours about henry cavill, I luuurve him! I think he would be great as bond but I think he's just signed up to play superman for another few movies and he's geralt (the witcher) I think bond would be too much.

I dont think tom hardy is quite right although I do like him.

Pierce Brosnan was perfect as bond, also seems like a nice guy off screen.

BatleyTownswomensGuild · 20/09/2020 17:00

Tbh I prefer him doing the CBeebies bedtime story

(You can tuck me in anytime, Tom.) Grin

Smellbellina · 20/09/2020 17:02

I want Idris Elba, not to be ‘diverse’ but because I think he would be fucking awesome as Bond.

DieSchottin93 · 20/09/2020 17:05

YANBU. It should be Henry Cavill, he at least looks the part Grin although there are rumours he's signed up to do more Superman films which is great but means no Bond for him Sad

Christ above which school do your kids go to? If it's near me In coming with you for drop off Grin
CoronaBollox · 20/09/2020 17:16

Well no one can say Tom hardy isn't a good actor, he has lots of people believing he is working class when really he is the total opposite. I think he will definitely look the part, in the film Legend he was clean shaved, suited and booted and looked handsome i fancy the life out of him

But as someone who doesnt like the bond films, I think he is above it tbh in the sense I hope it doesnt limit what he can do after it. The take, Legend, Warrior and Bane are my favourite performances.

Also did I mention hes very handsome. Maybe I am a secret Bond fan after all.

rooarsome · 20/09/2020 17:18

I can see him as Bond- I'm thinking specifically of the role he played in Inception. He is quite posh as well so the fact that so many think he's pretty rough and common surely shows he's a good actor?

The80sweregreat · 20/09/2020 17:20

Charlie Hannam would be good ( he is lovely)
Yes to Toby Jones but he isn't very tall .. good actor though!
