A greedy bastard breakfast

I was speaking to an old friend this morning who laughed and asked if I still had greedy bastard breakfasts. I asked what he was on about and he started going on about what I used to eat really laughing and banging on and exagurating saying I used to eat a couple of boxes of cereal and 2 loaves of bread etc.

What I actually had was a bowl of cereal, toast, a yogurt and a banana. This is what he called a greedy bastard breakfast. I feel like he’s been taking the piss out of me for years for this but never had the balls to bring it up with me.

A greedy bastard breakfast would be porridge with fruit, full fry up, tea and toast with marmalade. It would be nice to fit a yogurt and a fish course in too, but maybe these could be saved for mid morning break? Also, crumpets or muffins are rather nice, but you could have these instead of the toast.

Kedgeree is supposed to be a breakfast food, but not sure how to fit it in.

That would be a normal sized breakfast for me and I’d be hungry about 2 hours later. I am so surprised at how little people eat.

A big breakfast would be 2 toast, 2 hash browns, half a tin of beans, 2 eggs, 2 sausage, 2 bacon, mushrooms and tomato.

I always thought cereal then toast was fairly standard, then a bit of fruit and yogurt is hardly masses more.

SiaPR · 09/06/2020 22:01

It’s not greedy bastard, but that amount of sugar and carbs will never leave you feeling full for long, so did you have another greedy bastard breakfast 2hours later? (Not judging, I would have)

Thecurtainsofdestiny · 09/06/2020 22:03

I'm with @PyongyangKipperbang.. was hoping to read about a massive delicious breakfast!

It doesn't sound like a huge amount of food at all.

zscaler · 09/06/2020 22:04

Just remembered another fabulous greedy bastard breakfast I had in a gorgeous boutique Scottish hotel once. It had three courses - the first was little fresh pastries, and toast and jam. The second was porridge with whisky, honey and cream. The third was your choice of a cooked breakfast (smoked haddock and scrambled eggs / full Scottish / etc). Plus unlimited tea, coffee and fruit juice.

CherryValanc · 09/06/2020 22:05

@SpringSpringTime

Oh yeah I was really going to say 'grapefruit, coffee, 2 buttered eggs, smoked salmon and braised spinach on 2 slices of toast, more coffee' would be my ideal greedy bastard breakfast
I'll be over to yours in the morning for my breakfast. Well not the grapefruit- I just can't eat it, will take fruit substitute though.

One of my joys in life is a hotel or guesthouse that has a a help yourself to and has buffet with fruit, bread, pastries, cheeses and cereal and a cooked to order English/Irish/Welsh/Scottish (depending where you are!!) Though I can cope with one where its all buffet - I'm accommodating like that 😁

MrsJBaptiste · 09/06/2020 22:06

@AristotleAteMyHamster Does anybody just eat 30g of Crunchy Nut Cornflakes? I could eat a whole box of them... so I don't buy them 😕

Sparklfairy · 09/06/2020 22:07

To dispose of his battered corpse in the green wheelie bin, hopefully.

Mmmm... Battered corpse and chips

FOJN · 09/06/2020 22:07

Can't believe so many people are judging the size of your brekkie. The only reasonable response to his rudeness is fuck off.

CostaCosta · 09/06/2020 22:12

I like the sound of a greedy bastard breakfast. Sounds like something McDonalds could do.

Jenasaurus · 09/06/2020 22:12

Cereal, toast and fruit is a normal breakfast and considered the healthy choice on all inclusive holidays, while I am piling my plate high with a fry up followed by pancakes and danish pastries.

Jenasaurus · 09/06/2020 22:14

Now this is what I call a greedy bastard breakfast :)

Right. Sunday is official MN Greedy Bastard Breakfast day, who's in?

Time of day is not relevant, as I know some people cant eat until lunch, but in order to join you must post a photo of the delicious belly buster you are breaking your fast with!

Anyone?

zscaler · 09/06/2020 22:16

@pyongyangkipperbang I’m in! Might be mid to late morning for me but I’ll get a photo up when it’s done Grin

ChilliCheese123 · 09/06/2020 22:16

I eat a lot at breakfast and don’t really eat til teatime at about 7, maybe a smoothie or a slice of toast in between. So that’s not a lot for me. Today I had half an avocado on two slice of toast, three poached eggs with chili flakes, pint of orange juice, couple of tablespoons of Greek yoghurt and a coffee

MamaFirst · 09/06/2020 22:19

That is a giant breakfast! Are you a 6'6 athlete, burning loads of calories?

Teddy1970 · 09/06/2020 22:20

I've never seen one slice of bread that is 200 calories even including butter ( you only have a teaspoon of butter roughly) what bread is that? The most I've seen is about 140 for one slice, and I've looked at loads! I love bread! A bagel on the other hand is over 200.

PyongyangKipperbang · 09/06/2020 22:21

@MamaFirst

I rather think you re-read the thread. Competitive undereating is not a thing here.....

If you think that is a giant breakfast, I take it you wont be joining us on Sunday?

Thelnebriati · 09/06/2020 22:23

He's shaming you using food. If you complain, he'll ask what wrong with you, don't you have a sense of humour, its only banter.

I really don't get why so many people are arguing about the size of your breakfast and not calling him out on his attitude. He's a twat.

Gingerkittykat · 09/06/2020 22:23

Proper greedy bastard breakfast, and it's free if you can eat all of it within 20 minutes!

I can just imagine going to an all inclusive hotel and saying to H ‘I’m just going to have a light breakfast of cereal, toast, a bit of fruit and maybe a yogurt’ and him asking me if I’m feeling well as that’s fuck all and it’s 3 hours to lunch. Grin
