A greedy bastard breakfast

I was speaking to an old friend this morning who laughed and asked if I still had greedy bastard breakfasts. I asked what he was on about and he started going on about what I used to eat really laughing and banging on and exagurating saying I used to eat a couple of boxes of cereal and 2 loaves of bread etc.

What I actually had was a bowl of cereal, toast, a yogurt and a banana. This is what he called a greedy bastard breakfast. I feel like he’s been taking the piss out of me for years for this but never had the balls to bring it up with me.

Ok, the runny eggs bit put me off - but poached eggs and spinach is healthy - off to google hollandaise sauce.

*Florentine is spinach which has NO place on a breakfast plate.

FACT!*

😂 Yes, I’m one of those annoying people that likes veg a lot! I actually always forget that florentine is the one with spinach... what’s the one with smoked salmon? That’s the one I really love.

Admittedly am getting over invested in greedy bastard breakfast.

Ok, so Hollandaise is egg yolks and butter on top of eggs to make Eggs Florentine. I think I'd vomit (not a fan of eggs unless in a quiche or omelette). Nothing worse than eggy bread though - I have that sometimes for breakfast - well brunch by the time I've consumed my morning quota of fags and coffee (a whore's breakfast my mother used to call it lol).

OP never came back Hmm

Straight away I thought of an ex-colleague who spent most of the day grazing in the office. Once the kettle was on it would start, dip into the bag for a banana, scrape butter across toast (leaving crumbs everywhere), reach back in for another bit of fruit, put porridge in microwave.

Honestly it was irritating. Every morning just listening to her eat and smelling her breakfast smells.....if you were his colleague and did this then YABU Grin

I'm someone who believes in real butter though, rather than low fat spreads. When you're active, you actually need a lot of protein and fat.

@bubbleuIp Yes, I've seen it described at a grenade launcher OP - the just throw the bomb in and then run lol. I don't think anyone was mean to her? I certainly hope that I wasn't - it wasn't intentional if it came across that way.

I just have a sniff of a sparrow's arse and one cornflake which does me until 10pm when I eat two amoeba washed down with a unicorn tear.

iklboo I think I love you.
@EmmaGrundyForPM Let's presume why don't we, that given that this is MUMSNET, the OP isn't the very hungry caterpillar, the tiger who came to tea, nor a 6 foot male growing and active teen.
If you read what I wrote, I was responding to a poster who said:
I don’t know many people who could eat all that in one sitting for the first meal of the day.
If you don’t eat lunch that’s fine but, for people who would also have lunch and dinner, that would be excessive.

That poster was talking about people in general so I gave her examples of people who can and do eat that amount.

GemmeFatale · 11/06/2020 11:28

In my 20’s I would eat a full fry up, porridge, toast, fruit and yogurt for breakfast. And a full hot meal including starter and pudding for both lunch and dinner. And snacks on top.

I was seven stone and struggled to keep weight on.

Now I’m older, post partum and in a less physical job I eat maybe half that. I’m a size or two bigger. And I’m aware I can easily put on weight.

We as a society have really odd ways of thinking about food and how we judge what other women eat.
