A greedy bastard breakfast

SquishyBones · 09/06/2020 20:34

I was speaking to an old friend this morning who laughed and asked if I still had greedy bastard breakfasts. I asked what he was on about and he started going on about what I used to eat really laughing and banging on and exagurating saying I used to eat a couple of boxes of cereal and 2 loaves of bread etc.

What I actually had was a bowl of cereal, toast, a yogurt and a banana. This is what he called a greedy bastard breakfast. I feel like he’s been taking the piss out of me for years for this but never had the balls to bring it up with me.

Well that’s at least 3 breakfasts by a lot of people’s standards.

Usually it’s....
Cereal. Or
Toast. Or
Yogurt and banana

I don’t know many people who could eat all that in one sitting for the first meal of the day.
If you don’t eat lunch that’s fine but, for people who would also have lunch and dinner, that would be excessive.

Smallsteps88 · 09/06/2020 20:53

I can’t wait ‘til the day people wake up and say “why the fuck do we care what other people eat?” and just stop doing it. It’s seriously bizarre this obsession some people have with what other people put in their bellies. It affects no one but the person who eats it.

ScarfLadysBag · 09/06/2020 20:54

Also I just MyFitnessPal'd it and it came in at well under 500 calories for two slices of toast and butter, a bowl of Special K and milk, a Danone peach yoghurt and a banana.

Yeah, you greedy bastard, you! Hmm

PrincessConsueIaBananaHammock · 09/06/2020 20:55

This was OH's breakfast on Monday.

Bacon egg chips tomatoes and a tin of beans and sausage.

Now that's a greedy bastard breakfast!

What you had can be loads or not enough, depending on portion sizes, how many a meals a day you have etc.

Be warned however, that there is a big trend on competitive undereating on MN so you'll probably end up feeling like the very hungry caterpillar anyways.

OwlinaTree · 09/06/2020 20:58

Tell him to fuck off. What you choose to eat or not eat is none of his business, unless you are eating his food.

He's not a friend, he sounds horrible.

You are just in no position to judge this. You don’t know portion sizes, you don’t know what OP’s nutritional needs are or how many calories they need per day or how much activity they do. You’re just spouting off ignorant and dangerous pseudo-advice.

randomchap · 09/06/2020 20:58

Unless your breakfast took 3 frying pans, the oven, and grill to make then in no way could it be described as greedy bastard.

MitziK · 09/06/2020 20:59

@rottiemum88

What's your AIBU?
To dispose of his battered corpse in the green wheelie bin, hopefully.

WorraLiberty · 09/06/2020 21:02

If you're asking if he's BU to call you a greedy bastard then yes.

If you're asking if that's a big breakfast then also yes.

But it's your breakfast and nothing to do with him.

LycraLovingLass · 09/06/2020 21:02

Your friend was very rude.

For me that would be a lot but eat lunch, dinner and snacks.

If I had a fuller breakfast I might last through till lunch without the snack.

PorpentiaScamander · 09/06/2020 21:02

To dispose of his battered corpse in the green wheelie bin, hopefully.

Battered as in beaten and bruised? Or battered as in dipped in batter and deep fried?

cheermeupifyoucan · 09/06/2020 21:02

My 3yo seems to want to eat huge amounts of food in the morning but quite regularly doesn't want dinner. As long as it's all balanced then it doesn't matter.
He would happily sit and eat all of that before 10am.
On the other hand I don't like a big breakfast, but I'm overweight so I'm not going to dish out advice 🤣

Anyway it's a bit rude of him but I'd just ignore tbh.

MintyCedric · 09/06/2020 21:04

Cereal, yoghurt and fruit wouldn't even enter my head as component parts of a 'greedy bastard' breakfast.

He sounds like a man with too much time on his hands and too few cells in his brain.

Franticbutterfly · 09/06/2020 21:05

Sounds like a breakfast on an All Inclusive holiday.

DamnYankee · 09/06/2020 21:05

I just have a sniff of a sparrow's arse and one cornflake which does me until 10pm when I eat two amoeba washed down with a unicorn tear.

^ This makes me laugh!
Was he high or drunk?

AdaColeman · 09/06/2020 21:06

Well, if he thinks that’s a greedy breakfast, he’s obviously never had a real Irish breakfast, complete with white pudding and potato cakes! Delicious!

IagoWithABlackberry · 09/06/2020 21:08

Mmmm... Battered corpse. Not had one of those in years.

SpilltheTea · 09/06/2020 21:09

Isn't breakfast supposed to be the biggest meal of the day, considering we do fuck all after dinner?
He's being quite rude.

Mnthrowaway20202 · 09/06/2020 21:12

I’d have cereal, toast or yoghurt with fruit alone; but at the same time I don’t think that’s a lot of food for breakfast. The cereal could be served with yogurt & fruit instead of milk. It is a bit weird though, like did you eat the cereal or the toast first??

I think a massive breakfast would be a greasy full English with all the trimmings.

He was rude to comment. And people wonder why they get left in the past???

Nottherealslimshady · 09/06/2020 21:13

@ScarfLadysBag really? I just did it with mine and it came to over 700? And it does look like a massive breakfast when all put down. And my bread and and yogurt are low cal stuff.

Nonetheless, it was a rude thing to say.

A greedy bastard breakfast
MintyMabel · 09/06/2020 21:13

Yay! We haven’t had a competitive eating thread for ages!

Who’s winning so far?

cheermeupifyoucan · 09/06/2020 21:13

I know. When you think about it, food is fuel. What are you fuelling in the evening with a huge meal?

I'm thinking of going more with the flow with my 3yo's appetite and giving him bigger breakfasts with a wider range of food and just a small thing like toast & a banana at dinner time.

MitziK · 09/06/2020 21:14

@PorpentiaScamander

Depends on whether the latter comes with chips and beans, really.
ClientQ · 09/06/2020 21:14

I wake up hungry. Could easily eat three pieces of toast, scrambled eggs and cereal and a yoghurt
But I'm not often hungry for tea so I sometimes skip that. It's whatever works for you

NoProblem123 · 09/06/2020 21:16

Yanbu - eat what you like !
Sounds like a pretty healthy breakfast- people are weird Confused
