A greedy bastard breakfast

SquishyBones · 09/06/2020 20:34

I was speaking to an old friend this morning who laughed and asked if I still had greedy bastard breakfasts. I asked what he was on about and he started going on about what I used to eat really laughing and banging on and exagurating saying I used to eat a couple of boxes of cereal and 2 loaves of bread etc.

What I actually had was a bowl of cereal, toast, a yogurt and a banana. This is what he called a greedy bastard breakfast. I feel like he’s been taking the piss out of me for years for this but never had the balls to bring it up with me.

@LadyFeliciaMontague

Well that’s at least 3 breakfasts by a lot of people’s standards.

Usually it’s....
Cereal. Or
Toast. Or
Yogurt and banana

I don’t know many people who could eat all that in one sitting for the first meal of the day.
If you don’t eat lunch that’s fine but, for people who would also have lunch and dinner, that would be excessive.

I could absolutely eat that for breakfast. I usually wake up hungry.

Breakfast is my favourite meal of the day, if I don't have a big one I'm hungry for the rest of the day.

B0bbin · 09/06/2020 21:38

That breakfast sounds fine to me. How rude if him to laugh at you for it in that way!

Samtsirch · 09/06/2020 21:38

@zscaler
Your husband sounds absolutely gorgeous
😊

SophieSellerman · 09/06/2020 21:40

It's rude of him to comment - but that's a massive breakfast. More like four breakfasts. Any one of those items would be plenty.

I am commenting only because the OP started a thread asking for opinions. I wouldn't comment if it were a friend who had not solicited my opinion.

Bluntness100 · 09/06/2020 21:41

Generally people eat whatever the hell they want

I think you’ll find the two aren’t mutually exclusive. Eating what you want and still only having a bowl of cereal or toast or yoghurt and fruit. 😏

Al1Langdownthecleghole · 09/06/2020 21:42

If that’s a greedy bastard breakfast, I wouldn’t be booking a weekend away with him.

PrincessHoneysuckle · 09/06/2020 21:43

If he thinks that's greedy then god knows what he would have thought to DH's dinner tonight.Roast chicken, mound of mash,6 roasties, veg and 8 yorkshires Grin

molifly14 · 09/06/2020 21:44

Depends on the portion. My two year old would have that, but not a lot

Haffiana · 09/06/2020 21:45

Fuck me, the food issues brigade are out tonight. Aren't you lot ASHAMED to trumpet your fear of food on a public forum for all to see??

TwilightPeace · 09/06/2020 21:45

Four breakfasts?! Really?
This thread is weird and dysfunctional. No wonder so many women have issues with food.

Bluntness100 · 09/06/2020 21:46

Are you really trying to say folks who wouldn’t normally eat all that for breakfast have a fear of food and should be ashamed? I’m sure you’re not?

DisobedientHamster · 09/06/2020 21:46

That's great, but people 'generally' eat all differing amounts of food, it's impossible to qualify. I don't eat breakfast at all. Boak. That doesn't seem like what the OP eats is 'massive' or huge at all. It's 4 items, if it were dinner and she said she had a portion of chicken with pasta, rice, couscous or some other sort of grain/carb, a veg and a piece of fruit it's not likely anyone would consider that anything other than quite normal, yet it's 4 different types of food in one meal, just as this is.

Amber695 · 09/06/2020 21:48

A very healthy breakfast in my opinion. The guy sounds a complete n0b so the jokes on him!

SophieSellerman · 09/06/2020 21:48

No more ashamed than I would be of eating for four, Haffiana.

zscaler · 09/06/2020 21:48

@Samtsirch he is pretty dreamy!

GhostCurry · 09/06/2020 21:48

Yawn. What a boring prick he sounds.

DisobedientHamster · 09/06/2020 21:49

Just tell him, 'I'm pretty fucking sick of you're being such a rude dickhead about what I eat. Does that make you feel better about yourself? Not really interested in your exaggerated and negative comments about what I eat so I think it's time we went our separate ways.'

PyongyangKipperbang · 09/06/2020 21:50

Clicked hoping to read about the joy of stacks of bacon, half a pound of sausages, eggs and the works. Felt most disappointed to read about cereal and yoghurt!

Thats a substantial but healthy breakfast, enough to keep a normal person going until lunch, probably less calories in doing that than half a slice of toast and then snacking all morning because you're hungry.

Tell him to bore off.

I want to book into a hotel now, just to make myself a size bigger on the breakfast buffet!

Chandler12 · 09/06/2020 21:50

I thought this was going to be a post asking for recommendations for a greedy bastard breakfast - I came here for inspiration blush

Same 🤣

EngagedAgain · 09/06/2020 21:51

I wouldn't have said that's an unusually large breakfast. Might have eaten that amount myself at one time, although not every day.

Teddy1970 · 09/06/2020 21:51

Well the saying goes "Breakfast like a King, lunch like a Prince and dine like a pauper! I'm always hungry at breakfast, my breakfast is similar but without the cereal though, I have Vogel seeded wholemeal with Marmite, the slices are small but the bread is very filling, I think they're 99 calories a slice, so a breakfast like the OPs could come under 500 calories depending on the calories of the yoghurt and size of the banana.

SpringSpringTime · 09/06/2020 21:52

tbh that's about what my toddler eats. He tails off by about 3pm though which is probably why he's ravenous at 6am

AristotleAteMyHamster · 09/06/2020 21:52

30g crunchy nut cornflakes - 119kcal
1 huge slice of toast and 10g butter - 200kcal
Yoghurt - 90kcal
Banana - 100kcal

So just over 500kcal from the stuff I have in. Which seems about right for one of 3 meals a day.

I personally wouldn’t eat that for breakfast as I struggle to eat anything more than a yoghurt (but make up for it later in the day - no competitive eating smugness here), but it’s hardly being a greedy bastard.

SpringSpringTime · 09/06/2020 21:53

Oh yeah I was really going to say 'grapefruit, coffee, 2 buttered eggs, smoked salmon and braised spinach on 2 slices of toast, more coffee' would be my ideal greedy bastard breakfast

QWeRTY12340 · 09/06/2020 21:54

I dont even think thats big at all.. i tend to have a big breakfast as wale up starving and this works best for me. I dont eat snacks at all and don’t tend to have a proper lunch just small if anything at all. Im also a normal weight so think people need to stop making judgmental comments you’ll give OP a complex! Everyone is different
