To think 8.00am isn't too early ...

To mow the grass?

We have a very quiet electric mower. And most mornings there are delivery lorries/vans making a racket at 8 (the whole street seems to be extending their house atm, we have a builder's lorry almost every day and they always come early).

The sun is on the back garden until gone 6pm, I work until 2.30 and by the time the grass is in the shade I'm frankly knackered.

Would it really BU to give it a quick mow at 8?

I think that's too early. Weekends?

FloraGreysteel · 08/06/2020 18:00

I get up at 6am so I'm an early riser but I wouldn't mow the lawn until at least 9am!

EL8888 · 08/06/2020 18:00

Unreasonable l think. Put it this way l would fuming. I’m moving soon and you can enjoy my neighbours 7am washing machine runs on a Saturday Hmm

Sirzy · 08/06/2020 18:01

I wouldn’t do it before 9 personally.

GimmeAy · 08/06/2020 18:01

Too early. People need sleep.

Letsplough · 08/06/2020 18:01

Definitely too early, I would say 9.30 is reasonable.

DarklyDreamingDexter · 08/06/2020 18:03

Too early. I’d be cursing you. 9am minimum. If you want your neighbours to silently curse you, crack on.

scunner · 08/06/2020 18:03

Yes! It really isn’t fair to add even more noise for your neighbours to have to put up with.
Even though the back garden is in the shade, it can still be mown.

HannahBanana87 · 08/06/2020 18:03

We have a fish van who comes here and honks his horn repeatedly and continuously at 7.45am on a Thursday. I hate that knob.

Boopeedoop · 08/06/2020 18:04

Weekdays fine. Weekend no!

NC4Now · 08/06/2020 18:04

My window cleaner took to coming at 8am. I sacked him.

Bluntness100 · 08/06/2020 18:04

I’d be fine with it, but then my neighbours gardener starts at eight, so 🤷‍♀️

Dotty1970 · 08/06/2020 18:04

Too early, 9am too early but a minimum

NoMoreFlowers · 08/06/2020 18:04

It’s a bit selfish

FatalSecrets · 08/06/2020 18:05

Mow the grass in the sun?

snappycamper · 08/06/2020 18:06

Wouldn't bother me.

But then again, I get so much rage when I'm relaxing in the garden at the end of the day (7-8pm ish) and my neighbour starts the lawnmower.

SnuggyBuggy · 08/06/2020 18:06

I think it's fine on a weekday

Lsquiggles · 08/06/2020 18:07

I wouldn't mow the grass before 10am, it's rude and I think you know it Hmm

raeray · 08/06/2020 18:08

Another vote for too early I'm afraid.
I'd say 0930 very earliest.

TheCanterburyWhales · 08/06/2020 18:10

Weekdays is fine.
Weekends, no.

PepperPott · 08/06/2020 18:10

I’m an early riser, but I’d also say after 9.

However the 7am washing machine comment is weird. I would always run my washing machine early to get the washing out before leaving for work/ day out. When else would you do it?

Roselilly36 · 08/06/2020 18:11

We pay a local firm to cut our lawns, one weekday morning they turned up at just gone 7am, I was a bit embarrassed incase our neighbours were disturbed, I complained and was surprised to learn that legally you can cut a lawn from 7am!

Molocosh · 08/06/2020 18:11

Under normal circumstances most of your neighbours would be going to work or school. At present they’re not. It’s too early to make noise.

Strangerthingshere · 08/06/2020 18:12

I personally try not to make noise before 10am, but I'd say 9am as a minimum. I do think 8am is unreasonable.

IncrediblySadToo · 08/06/2020 18:12

It wouldn't bother me, but I'm awake 4-4:30 love the extra daylight hours in the Spring/summer!

8am seems late enough to me. However, what's your neighbours situation? If I knew they had kids that were still sleeping I wouldn't even be breathing heavily. They need all the child free time they can get!
