Babies stranded in Ukraine

Just watched the footage on C4. Really not comfortable with any of this. Staff, hospital etc all looking very gowned up, lots of cots in a big space all very clean and hygienic looking but newborn babies with no , and I mean zero, opportunities for attachment ??
This is looking very strange to me.

Human trafficking. Should be banned. Human beings are not for sale.

MarylandMayhem · 15/05/2020 20:24

I am horrified. It's baby farming, it's selling people!

Absolutely no fucking excuse on earth for the buying and selling of humans.

Macrometa · 15/05/2020 20:28

Social Services will go to huge lengths to avoid separating children from their families

Absolutely not the case in some areas in the UK, you would be surprised how many babies are taken at birth and not all of them are at imminent risk of harm.

funinthesun19 · 15/05/2020 20:29

This is absolutely heartbreaking Sad Those poor babies need attachment and love. Horrific how this is even legal.

Proudboomer · 15/05/2020 20:29

Why are you all so shocked? The rich having been buying babies for years or did you think that the likes of Elton John and Micheal Jackson found their children under a mulberry bush.

P1nkHeartLovesCake · 15/05/2020 20:29

Poor babies Sad

Surrogacy is wrong on so many levels, more so when women in other countries are used as walking fucking wombs

LaurieMarlow · 15/05/2020 20:31

Have you ever lived in Ukraine? If the woman is seeing even half of that it is hugely life changing and may be getting them off of the streets

None of that makes it right.

There are more important things than money in life.

theconstantinoplegardener · 15/05/2020 20:36

This made me feel very sad too. I've never really thought about surrogacy but I hate to think of all those gorgeous babies without their mums.

OneMomentInHistory · 15/05/2020 20:37

Whilst I absolutely feel for (most) commissioning parents - they're often utterly desperate and emotionally traumatized themselves - I hope this might make people think twice about international commercial surrogacy. The clinics see it as a purely financial transaction. The birth mothers are often treated appallingly. Babies are frequently born premature (so the birth mother is paid less, and the clinics charge huge medical fees to the c parents). There is zero safeguarding oversight of the process.

@Proudboomer
Please don’t forget Madonna or Angelina

user1471565182 · 15/05/2020 20:39

The glory of capitalism.

Samtsirch · 15/05/2020 20:40

Jolie

CarlottaValdez · 15/05/2020 20:43

It’s horrible, really upsetting.

anothernamechangeagain · 15/05/2020 20:45

So sad. Poor babies. I hope their birth mothers have been taken care of too, none of this can be easy for them either.

delilabell · 15/05/2020 20:45

@macrometa please don't lie and whip things up. Social services do not take newborns for no reason. You're talking rubbish

Proudboomer · 15/05/2020 20:52

Sam Madonna and Angelina adopted pre existing toddlers not new borns and although I do have issues with buying children and up rooting them from their own cultures it is a different issue than babies born to order.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 15/05/2020 20:54

Banned in many countries. I wish it was illegal here.

I can't watch the footage but the pictures are disturbing enough. It's just so bloody awful and there is something dystopian about it. It's wrong on every level, humans should not be for sale.

Proudboomer · 15/05/2020 21:04

Scissors it’s like fucking click and collect from Asda but you get a real live baby rather than some bananas and a bag of pasta.

Methtones · 15/05/2020 21:09

Why are you all so shocked? The rich having been buying babies for years or did you think that the likes of Elton John and Micheal Jackson found their children under a mulberry bush.

I dont think anyone is surprised, however the footage really was heartbreaking and not anything I've seen before. One couple "managed" to pick up their twins because someone loaned them a private jet. It's wrong, it continues to be wrong.

ABucketOfShells · 15/05/2020 21:11

I would love to see some positives come out of coronavirus, including a worldwide ban of surrogacy.

Queenest · 15/05/2020 21:13

Just awful Sad

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 15/05/2020 21:16

This image disturbed me. Two men wheeling off their baby shortly after the woman they'd contracted to be their surrogate had given birth to her/him. It's the punching the air that really gets me.

My (adopted) son was in hospital alone for a couple of weeks as a newborn.

He has shocking issues with attachment, eye contact, regulation.

Those poor babies.
