Lounging in pyjamas - disgusts me. AIBU

Hi, so just after opions. So, apart from Christmas, I really don't like my children lounging in the house in their pyjamas - it's a real bug bear or mine. So, it's half term and my SS is staying with us. My bio kids are up, fed and dressed by 8.30. SS is older so wakes at 10am (I have no problem with that) but his dad has no problem with him staying in pyjamas until after mid-day. I think it sets a lazy precedent and personally find it quite disgusting. AIBU? Bit too extreme?

Don't come to my house OP. My 8 year old DS prefers to lounge around in his underwear.

AryaStarkWolf · 20/02/2020 10:26

Totally unreasonable, bloody hell let him relax in his own home. Lounging in PJs at home to relax is a gift from the gods

DonkeyKong2019 · 20/02/2020 10:26

Nothing wrong with some pyjama time and certainly not disgusting. Yabu.

Up and dressed by 8.30 during half term? Are you running an army barracks?! Kids need some time to chill out when they're not in school.

84claire84 · 20/02/2020 10:27

Wow you sound an utter delight to be around.

My kids ask for chill out days.

purplemunkey · 20/02/2020 10:27

Lounging around in pyjamas is one of life’s small pleasures. YABVU.

Nowayorhighway · 20/02/2020 10:28

YABU and seriously uptight, unclench a bit.

HugeAckmansWife · 20/02/2020 10:28

Sorry but YABU. If you find it unpleasant, don't do it but you can't impose that on others. What exactly is it that you object to?

Sparklingbrook · 20/02/2020 10:28

I am doing exactly that right now. Grin

Up , fed and dressed by 8.30am on Half Term? Sad

MadamePewter · 20/02/2020 10:29

I personally loathe pyjamas and lounging in nightwear round the house is not for me.

But my kids like it, I’m not a fan, but if there’re comfy and relaxed at home I’m happy.

I would never go on a spa day because of my dressing gown in public phobia 😂

Mumoflil1 · 20/02/2020 10:29

Haha, maybe I it's only me then! Lol! Thanks for the feedback. I'll get off my high horse.

10:30, I’m off work so my son is playing lego in his pjs, perfect way to spend a day. He probably won’t get dressed properly today, and I certainly won’t. Bliss.

Sparklingbrook · 20/02/2020 10:30

Teen DSs favoured the boxer shorts and undone dressing gown combo for quite some years.

user1493413286 · 20/02/2020 10:30

I think it’s fair to have a cut off time of getting washed and dressed but I’m thinking noon-2pm type time. I’d only find it disgusting if he didn’t wash for days on end and stayed in the same pjs the whole time. I also wouldn’t be encouraging lounging around all day all week for any children.

PonderTweek · 20/02/2020 10:30

Wouldn't bother me, but then my 3yo usually only wears his pants and vest at home. Grin We don't do pyjamas but generally like to lounge around in joggers and t-shirts because we like being comfortable. If we had visitors it would be slightly different (depending on who it is!).

Mamabear88 · 20/02/2020 10:30

Erm yeah it's just you...

PastaSauceHoarder · 20/02/2020 10:30

If we're not going out or having people over then the whole family stays in pyjamas in my house! However we do change into fresh pyjamas for the day, we don't slob around in the ones we slept in. Smile

Nothing nicer than comfy clean PJ's!

Mumoflil1 · 20/02/2020 10:30

Yay! I have a comrade. Dressing gowns make me uneasy, I only wear one if I'm sick lol!

WTF is disgusting about pyjamas?? What are you doing in yours all night to make them disgusting the next morning?

lemontreebird · 20/02/2020 10:31

YABU.

PhantomErik · 20/02/2020 10:32

My DC have mostly been in pyjamas this half term as we've had horrible colds. They put a clean pair on at bedtime & also clean pants in the morning.

We've had a lovely relaxing break (apart from 2 of us feeling ill).

It's not lazy to relax.

My Ds is 18 and got dressed yesterday for the first time since Friday - he has showered and put clean pjs on regularly tho, it's half term and he's mid a levels so deserves to relax!

AnchorDownDeepBreath · 20/02/2020 10:34

I don’t do it - it just feels weird to me - but I wouldn’t say it’s disgusting. I just feel a lot better after my morning shower and in clothes, even if they’re casual ones!
