Lounging in pyjamas - disgusts me. AIBU

Hi, so just after opions. So, apart from Christmas, I really don't like my children lounging in the house in their pyjamas - it's a real bug bear or mine. So, it's half term and my SS is staying with us. My bio kids are up, fed and dressed by 8.30. SS is older so wakes at 10am (I have no problem with that) but his dad has no problem with him staying in pyjamas until after mid-day. I think it sets a lazy precedent and personally find it quite disgusting. AIBU? Bit too extreme?

I never ever understand threads like this. If you don't like it, don't do it but don't question why others do. What other people do in their own homes is of no consequence to you or anyone else hmm

I never understand comments like this. Aren’t you the least bit interested in how other people see things? Why even come into AIBU if you have no interest on deciding whether people are unreasonable or not.

Haggisfish · 20/02/2020 10:45

I find most nursing homes dress their residents actually.Hmm

ACautionaryTale · 20/02/2020 10:46

We sleep nekkid.

So Pajamas are literally never worn in bed. In my house (only me and DH they are worn)

  • of an evening after my night shower and before bed
  • on a weekend morning or day off for breakfast before I shower and get dressed
  • all day sunday if i'm not going anywhere and have no visitors

one pair tends to get reworn through the week starting with Monday with a fresh pair on Friday night/saturday morning

Fresh pair for Sunday

UnnecessarilyUpset · 20/02/2020 10:46

"Disgusting" is quite extreme.

Whatsmyname26 · 20/02/2020 10:46

Pjs are day way here unless we are leaving the house! Autism and chronic medical conditions here though so we conserve spoons where we can

Whatsmyname26 · 20/02/2020 10:46

Day wear

icanhearapindrop · 20/02/2020 10:47

I’m kind of with you OP. I’m not as strict about the time, but come 10ish, I like everyone to be dressed. I don’t like the idea of people wearing the PJs they’ve been in all night, but also not a fan of getting changed into clean PJs. I just think the days are for wearing clothes, but no idea why really!

lowlandLucky · 20/02/2020 10:47

Your poor children

SimonJT · 20/02/2020 10:47

@TheGnusShoes Good luck getting anywhere near the lego, you’ll have to throw some oreos and hope he chases them!

Mumoflil1 · 20/02/2020 10:47

Paddingtonbear.. Sometimes you want to question your own beliefs mate. That's the point of aibu posts. I don't give a rats bum what people do in their houses, it's nice to have a comparison to sense check whether my bugbear is rational or not just as I do with my friends in real life. Take a chill pill!

I don't like Pj's on during the day. It makes me feel odd and out of sorts. I don't mind comfies, joggers and jumpers etc. Kids and DH wear Pj's. I don't like dressing gowns either, I feel like I've been poorly and I'm recuperating lol.
We rolled out of bed at 10 so I can't comment on that aspect.

Crinkle77 · 20/02/2020 10:48

YABU I think 'disgusting' is a bit extreme. Who cares it's half term just let it go.

Bubblemonkey · 20/02/2020 10:48

I’ve been to the likes of kfc in the car in my jammys. Shoot me 🥳

I hate wearing pyjamas even on day off, so will get showered and dressed but i have two teens who will lounge around in pjs. They both have no issue with getting up dressed and ready when they need to so i see no problem with it.

BigSandyBalls2015 · 20/02/2020 10:48

Blimey OP wait until they’re teens ....mine were always in PJs unless they were going out

Itwasntme1 · 20/02/2020 10:48

Poor kid😳. Lounging round the house in your pjs isn’t the worst thing a kids could be doing.

I really do think you need to relax. It’s not disgusting at all. What an odd thread.

TheOrigBrave · 20/02/2020 10:48

I guess we do all get dressed for the day, whether that's an early start or a lazy morning, but we love nothing better than knowing we're not going out again say after 4 or 5pm and putting our 'lounge wear' on.

Littlewelshridinghood · 20/02/2020 10:49

The weather is awful today, its half term, me and DP have a day off work, nobody needs to leave the house which means we wont be changing out of our jammies/loungewear, until we get changed into clean ones after a shower obviously 😂

MozzchopsThirty · 20/02/2020 10:49

I love being in my pjs
My ideal day is no kids, pjs all day, preferably in bed, have a bath about 6pm and change into clean pjs and back to bed 🤣

diddl · 20/02/2020 10:50

For me it brings back memories of being too ill to get up & dressed!

I suppose it might depend on how clean the kids & the pjs are!

There's plenty of comfortable clothing about without keeping stuff on that you've slept in all night!

Surfer25 · 20/02/2020 10:50

I guess it depends on what your plans are.

I wouldn't want to waste half my day waiting until after midday for a child to bother to dress. I'd go out and leave them.

I do get pissed off with my niece who is 6 when her mum brings her to stay.

Nightie and no knickers on and rolls around all over the sofas and floor not caring what is hanging out. Do that in your own home if you must but as a guest...

I hate hanging around the house in pyjamas though and prefer to be out. So that might be why.

Emmelina · 20/02/2020 10:51

If they’re not going anywhere and nobody is visiting, why not? Obviously they go into clean pj’s at bedtime again but saves a ton of washing 😂

QuestionableMouse · 20/02/2020 10:52

Can one of you saying joggers are okay but Pj's aren't tell me the practical difference between the two?

You'd hate me op, I sleep naked and wear Pj's just for lounging 😂😂

Surfer25 · 20/02/2020 10:52

My ideal day is no kids, pjs all day, preferably in bed, have a bath about 6pm and change into clean pjs and back to bed

What an utter waste of life

OkMaybeNot · 20/02/2020 10:52

I don't like it either, but I know I'm unreasonable.

I make the kids put on fresh PJs when they want a PJ day Blush
