Lounging in pyjamas - disgusts me. AIBU

Hi, so just after opions. So, apart from Christmas, I really don't like my children lounging in the house in their pyjamas - it's a real bug bear or mine. So, it's half term and my SS is staying with us. My bio kids are up, fed and dressed by 8.30. SS is older so wakes at 10am (I have no problem with that) but his dad has no problem with him staying in pyjamas until after mid-day. I think it sets a lazy precedent and personally find it quite disgusting. AIBU? Bit too extreme?

See I don’t find pyjamas more comfortable than jeans? Why do people wear clothes that are uncomfortable anyway.

bluehighlighter · 20/02/2020 18:16

To me, it feels slovenly, bordering on dysfunctional. We have guests a lot. Very occasionally a teenager comes down to breakfast in pyjamas. A couple of times we've had guests who literally never brushed their hair. And it did feel dysfunctional.

HariboBrenshnio · 20/02/2020 18:18

I'm lucky if mine have pants on - pjs would be a bonus Grin

MimiLaRue · 20/02/2020 18:21

YABU. Why should it be "disgusting"? if you shower and then put on fresh PJs its glorious! Feels so nice and relaxing and comfy and cozy. I think you need to unclench a bit and embrace the relaxation of a pyjama day- try it!

AndNoneForGretchenWieners · 20/02/2020 18:21

I didn't even have a shower until after lunch time. I'm working from home with no heating so decided to work from the comfort of my bed. Skype meetings are so much better when you are comfy in a onesie or even just a big fluffy cardy and nothing else (obviously don't have video enabled).

vodkaredbullgirl · 20/02/2020 18:22

Nothing like a dysfunctional family, mine are lol

AndNoneForGretchenWieners · 20/02/2020 18:23

Also bluehighlighter my DS only wears anything other than pants if he's going out. He's 20 and has been this laid back for years... no social workers involved if you can fathom it!

DBML · 20/02/2020 18:39

I get home from work - I put pyjamas on. I don’t even wear PJs to bed. I just put them on to lounge around my home and relax.
If I’m not going out, I put pyjamas on. It doesn’t make me lazy, it makes me comfortable.

FamilyOfAliens · 20/02/2020 18:44

I couldn’t have a 20-year-old in the house if he was sitting around in his pants all day. Seems more attention-seeking than laid back.

Porcupineinwaiting · 20/02/2020 18:49

It's not something we do but disgusting? Really?

MiniMum97 · 20/02/2020 18:49

God don't over come to my house when I'm not at work. I would spend my life in pyjamas if I could. Why is it disgusting? That's a weird response.

AndNoneForGretchenWieners · 20/02/2020 19:00

family attention seeking? How come? He's just a fan of comfort, he would get dressed if we had visitors but I don't mind, less washing to do.

McCanne · 20/02/2020 19:02

I love to get up and dressed early. I’m not a lounging in pyjamas kind of person but I do t think it’s disgusting. Occasionally I have a ‘bed day’ with dd where we stay in pyjamas all day and watch tv and play games in and it’s lovely.

FamilyOfAliens · 20/02/2020 19:09

attention seeking? How come?

Well if he normally wears just pants in the house and only gets dressed if he leaves the house, it must make visitors feel very uncomfortable and he must know that.

FamilyOfAliens · 20/02/2020 19:12

Sorry, I saw you said he gets dressed for visitors. Thank goodness.

CheshireChat · 20/02/2020 19:38

Aaargh, my mum was and is like this- no pyjamas during the day and you have to go out every bloody day, it's only now I'm 30 she's given up on nagging me about it.

Also, particularly during summer I wear a plain black t-shirt and black leggings as pjs and exactly the same during the day if at home so not sure how could someone tell. I imagine some people are less clumsy and can cook and clean in going out clothes but sadly I'm not one of them!

CottonHeadedNinyMuggins · 21/02/2020 09:11

Me neither Cheshire. I would have ruined all my lovely clothes by bleach and cleaning product splashes a long time ago 😂 and sauces too!

Fr0g · 21/02/2020 09:25

my eldest is in his joggers
Are PJ trousers a lot different to joggers?
Admittedly, I don;t wear PJs to sleep in, only for lounging, but they're not that dissimilar to joggers an casual wear - just the patterns & sometimes thinner fabric.
I went to move the car the other morning, bumped into neighbours and ended up chatting in the street for about half an hour with PJs and a jacket on top.

LionelRitchieStoleMyNotebook · 21/02/2020 09:25

DS gets up at 7:30 and goes down for his nap around 9:30. Of course I change his nappy but I don't get him dressed when he's going to go back down for a nap soon, after his nap I get him dressed for the day. Up and dressed by 8:30 in the holidays, let them relax!

LoveIsLovely · 21/02/2020 09:26

I think it's minging to sit around the house in the clothes you've been outside in.

We change into indoor clothes when we get in and have separate pyjamas for sleeping (though nine times out of ten, we just sleep in underwear.)

annamie · 21/02/2020 09:29

I can’t believe anyone still uses the word minging.

FamilyOfAliens · 21/02/2020 09:44

Me neither Cheshire. I would have ruined all my lovely clothes by bleach and cleaning product splashes a long time ago 😂 and sauces too!

Surely you just change into old clothes if you’re using chemicals like bleach? I wouldn’t clean the bath in the clothes I go to work in.

FamilyOfAliens · 21/02/2020 09:45

Blimey love, your carbon footprint on clothes washing alone must be horrendous.

MrsGrindah · 21/02/2020 11:28

I have visions of LoveIsLovely sat in their pyjamas with a coronavirus mask on!

Branster · 21/02/2020 21:22

So how many times a day do you get changed LovelsLovely.? Just curious. I’d need to change 10-20 times between 6AM and midnight if I followed this logic.
