Lounging in pyjamas - disgusts me. AIBU

Hi, so just after opions. So, apart from Christmas, I really don't like my children lounging in the house in their pyjamas - it's a real bug bear or mine. So, it's half term and my SS is staying with us. My bio kids are up, fed and dressed by 8.30. SS is older so wakes at 10am (I have no problem with that) but his dad has no problem with him staying in pyjamas until after mid-day. I think it sets a lazy precedent and personally find it quite disgusting. AIBU? Bit too extreme?

Disgusting in what sense? Morally disgusting or hygienically disgusting? Either seems a ridiculous over-reaction to me. I personally don't like lounging in my pyjamas, but I can't imagine thinking someone else was disgusting for doing so. I let my dc do it in the holidays, but not until lunch time, because we're almost always out and about doing something before that.

CottonHeadedNinyMuggins · 20/02/2020 10:36

If I'm not leaving the house or expecting people I'm in pj's 75 percent of the time . I get showered and put clean pj's on and get comfortable. Much better personally Grin

ThunderGarlic · 20/02/2020 10:36

YABU

I'm typing this from the half-term comfort of my red plaid M&S brushed cotton pyjamas, sitting at the kitchen table with a popular history book, coffee and MN. Oddly, Y6 DD was up, dressed and active off her own bat before 0900. Perhaps she's on your side of the fence!

Yep, you must get very dirty in the night, as my PJs are still clean in the morning.

TheGnusShoes · 20/02/2020 10:37

10:30, I’m off work so my son is playing lego in his pjs, perfect way to spend a day. He probably won’t get dressed properly today, and I certainly won’t. Bliss.

Lego in your PJs?!! Can I come over @SimonJT ?? Thats my idea of a good time 🤣

Mumoflil1 · 20/02/2020 10:38

OK, wasn't here for the attacks, just putting a question out there. Funny how the ones that 'attack' are telling me to 'chill out' haha. Anyway, I have no problem with chilling out.. my eldest is in his joggers, after cleaning his room (lol) and we are in front of the TV watching cartoons until later when we'll do some baking together. I don't like pj's but doesn't mean I am a dictator man, jeez!

I'm not a fan of hanging about in the house in jammies all day. I'm not going to make the kids get dressed at 8.30 during the holidays but once it hits about 10 then I feel the need for clothes.

Mabelface · 20/02/2020 10:38

I'm currently lounging on the sofa in a fluffy onesie with a fluffy blanket and a cat on my lap. I'll get showered and dressed when I can be bothered. It's my day off, the weather is minging and I'm comfy. Leave him alone.

gingercat02 · 20/02/2020 10:39

PJ day here today. We've had a busy HT. DS will do all day more than likely, I will get dressed at some point probably 🤣

JillAmanda · 20/02/2020 10:39

You sound lovely to be around 🙄

Mumoflil1 · 20/02/2020 10:40

I require at least underpants/boxers so no bums on furniture.

Other than that I don't care. You come to our door, you take your chances.

DameHannahRelf · 20/02/2020 10:40

As soon as I get home from work, I put pj's on. If I need to go out again, I get dressed again. I would happily wear them out and about, if it became socially acceptable. They're just comfier imo. Yabu.

MadeleineMaxwell · 20/02/2020 10:41

The odd pyjama morning is fine in this house for 4yo DS. I WFH and make a point of being dressed every day, as otherwise I'd just lapse into a mouldering heap. DH changes into his slops when he gets home from work, nothing wrong with comfy clothes.

My neighbours across the road seem to live in dressing gowns, to the point of doing the bins etc. in them, which I find odd but each to their own I guess.

Bleublue · 20/02/2020 10:41

I’m not a fan of it but I don’t think it’s disgusting.

The only reason I prefer to dress my kids early is so that we can go out later and it’s not such a faff to get ready.

Also, I find I get lazier as the day goes on and have less inclination to do things so this makes it easier 😂😂

PaddingtonBearHardStare · 20/02/2020 10:42

I never ever understand threads like this. If you don't like it, don't do it but don't question why others do. What other people do in their own homes is of no consequence to you or anyone else Hmm

Leflic · 20/02/2020 10:42

Not a fan of lounging in pj’s. I like to be washed and dressed ( agreed it’s a bit gross to be in nightwear all day too%) and THEN lounge about.

DS will stay in PJ’s all day and I do let him but only because he’s a teen and it’s his choice now.

I also hate dressing gowns. Fine in hospital or a towelling job by the pool. Plenty of time for a dressing gown in the nursing home.

Bakedbrie · 20/02/2020 10:43

Not crazy about cooking in bed clothes ....they stink.

Everyone has the life they created for themselves. People shouldn’t be moaning! I don’t have kids and therefore have the joy of more freedom and pyjama days etc and I don’t think it’s disgusting, it’s the life I chose and deserve as I made the right choices for myself!!

Brazi103 · 20/02/2020 10:44

Yabu and one of those parents. Do you think you are somehow better?
My dm was like you, had to get up early and dressed and rushed for the day- to go nowhere! Hated it, couldnt relax. We absolutely loved it when she stopped being a sahm and went to work!

Tana433 · 20/02/2020 10:44

YABVU. If i dont need to leave the house i stay in my pjs all day. Then put fresh ones on for sleeping. Lounging around with nothing to do except exactly what i want to do when i want to do it is one of lifes very few little pleasures and should be relished imo

Fuckitwhynot · 20/02/2020 10:44

It’s the description of “disgusting” that’s getting people’s backs up I think. You’re basically calling anyone who lounges in pj’s disgusting/unhygienic etc which understandably people might find insulting.
