Lounging in pyjamas - disgusts me. AIBU

Hi, so just after opions. So, apart from Christmas, I really don't like my children lounging in the house in their pyjamas - it's a real bug bear or mine. So, it's half term and my SS is staying with us. My bio kids are up, fed and dressed by 8.30. SS is older so wakes at 10am (I have no problem with that) but his dad has no problem with him staying in pyjamas until after mid-day. I think it sets a lazy precedent and personally find it quite disgusting. AIBU? Bit too extreme?

I never understand comments like this. Aren’t you the least bit interested in how other people see things? Why even come into AIBU if you have no interest on deciding whether people are unreasonable or not.

Because it's not a thread asking for an opinion if they're BU about something that will then have a consequence on their actions. I hardly think the OP is going to suddenly start sitting around in her PJs all day if she gets a majority than she's BU Grin

My DS didn’t make it out of his onesie until 4 pm yesterday (although he sleeps naked so only put it on when he got up). He only got dressed then because he came with me to take the dog for a walk
Just leave him be, it’s not doing any harm

diddl · 20/02/2020 10:52

"I hate hanging around the house in pyjamas though and prefer to be out"

Yup!

Well I have a dog so it's shower, dress, breakfast & out!

I'm always in my pyjamas when I'm not working or going out. On days I'm home all day, I am in my pyjamas all day, and I get in them as soon as I get home. I love being comfy.

timeforawine · 20/02/2020 10:53

I don't sit around in my pj's, but i do have lounge clothes. My 3yr old however refuses such things and insists on getting dressed as soon as her gro clock shows the sun.

SapphosRock · 20/02/2020 10:53

I require at least underpants/boxers so no bums on furniture.

Same. DD and her cousins are all still playing in their nighties. I made them put knickers on , that's the minimum standard in this house.

claireyjs · 20/02/2020 10:54

When the weather is bad and we can't go out I have no issues with the occasional PJ day for the kids. Does them good to relax and have some doen time in the hols. Wouldn't let them wear same pair day and night for a whole week though as that would be gross but as long as the Pjs get changed after a bath I don't have an issue with it

MitziK · 20/02/2020 10:54

I don't like slobbing around in nightclothes all day - I feel like between 10 and 11am, you should have got dressed. However, I don't necessarily think full outerwear is necessary; I think changing into gym gear is fine for days indoors, and is perfect clothing for housework and cooking, as it's comfortable, keeps you cool, stretches and moves with you. It also means for me, at least, that I'm more active than flumping about in PJs or wrapped in the dressing gown of doom.

pooopypants · 20/02/2020 10:54

YABU

PJs are life.

reluctantbrit · 20/02/2020 10:54

As I expect DD to wash in the morning she needs clean clothes anyway. I personally think pyjamas are nightwear, she can wear them for breakfast but then please change.

Saying that I am also under the fixed impression that tracksuits are for sport and not normal streetwear so I am quite strict with clothes anyway.

I also refuse the amount of washing she would create with two pyjamas a day, jeans and jumper do last a lot longer than one wear.

CEVA123 · 20/02/2020 10:55

I have no problem with lounging in pj's all day, as long as my daughter has a wash, changes her underwear and puts a fresh pair of pyjamas or loungewear on. I love having a pj day, but do think it's a bit grim lounging around in the same pair you've slept in all night.

OneHanded · 20/02/2020 10:55

My person! Even I’ll have to get dressed properly, feel even worse otherwise!

Cuppaand2biscuits · 20/02/2020 10:55

My children only get dressed if we're going out during half term. And with so much bad weather and local flooding we haven't been out much at all. I'm still in my pyjamas and dressing gown myself. Can't see what's disgusting about it?

ritzbiscuits · 20/02/2020 10:57

During holidays I'm happy for some prolonged PJ time, but want him dressed before lunch. We'd never stay in the house all day, so I'd then want him ready to go out at some point in the afternoon.

My DS really craves relaxing in his PJs during holidays, as it's either school or up for an activity on the weekend.

AryaStarkWolf · 20/02/2020 10:57

Saying that I am also under the fixed impression that tracksuits are for sport and not normal streetwear so I am quite strict with clothes anyway.

That's a very sad story, life is too short to be "strict with clothes"

PJs are life.

Never a truer word spoken

ItIsWhatItIsInnit · 20/02/2020 10:57

Wow, struggling to imagine the washing you all do with changing pyjamas twice a day! I wear mine for like a week.

StarySkyTonight · 20/02/2020 10:57

I'd live in pj's if I could, I also have an indoor and outdoor bra Grin. As soon as I get in my indoor bra goes on with my pj's and I take my deaf aids out, it's absolute blissssss.

DevilsAdv0caat · 20/02/2020 10:57

I think if you hadn’t implied your SS was disgusting for doing a fairly normal thing then the replies might not be so vitriolic.

flirtygirl · 20/02/2020 10:58

I'm sorry op bit you sound awful. We stay in pj's if not going out or in lounge wear. As long as it clean, what harm is it doing? What happened to being able to relax in your own home?

You are doing your own kids no favours with such rigidity.

FamilyOfAliens · 20/02/2020 10:58

I don’t think it’s disgusting but I don’t like wearing nightwear during the day. It just feels lazy to me.

Louise91417 · 20/02/2020 11:00

Im with you 100% on this...just something about pjs during that day that really annoys me..i no im being totally unreasonable and each to their own and all that..but if not dressed and raring to go by 10am the day is gone..wasted..never to be got back..Blush

Devlesko · 20/02/2020 11:01

I didn't get out of my onesie yesterday, it was cold and it kept me warm and cosy without having to whack the heating up. I find thick jumpers too bulky and difficult to work in.
I did manage a full day's work, housework and cooking, without any problems Confused.

CuriousCapricorn · 20/02/2020 11:02

It’s 11am, dd age 9 and ds age 16 are still in bed asleep ( both in pj’s ) and I’m not waking them. Yesterday my dd woke up at 12.30 and had her breakfast/lunch and a shower and into fresh pj’s as we were staying home.

Ds woke up a bit later, stayed in bed all day until he went to the gym at 5.

Kids need the break at half term and if they want to lounge about in pj’s then I’m fine with that. I love them too and have never been out in them but sometimes wish I could Smile

Mumoflil1 · 20/02/2020 11:02

Oh brazi, u are reading into this too much. My eldest is now dancing around with a bicycle pump in his hand. I don't think he finds if difficult to feel comfortable. Besides, he has adhd so couldn't stay still and compliant if I paid him.
