I am waiting with interest to find out what happens next, following on from this afternoon's talks at Sandringham.

Poor old Queen. She can't have finished the leftover turkey yet and here she is, embroiled in another crisis.

@TheMustressMhor can we have a new thread please?
I cannot sleep due to a nasty chest infection 😔

NotEverythingIsBlackandwhite · 14/01/2020 01:56

Nicole Cliffe was not prosecuted. She made up the rumours of an affair as her version of why Kate and Rose had fallen out.

In the article linked by @TheMustressMhor Nicole Cliffe states "Would it be helpful for me to explain the current Royal scandal w(as) a great deal of personal editorializing?"
She is admitting it was her take on why they'd fallen out.

The RF did take out injunctions to prevent newspapers publishing the false allegations (it had previously been published by The Sun).

Richard Kay of the DM stated that "both Kate and Rose considered taking legal action against the false reports but decided against it as no evidence to support the reports was given."

It seems the two women may have had a falling out but the reason for it was not an affair between William and Rose.

This thread is compulsive yet bonkers. If you moved to this country to be with the man you loved, knowing very few people here, then the crap the press say, the comments on websites etc, are bound to be what you perceive that the British public think of you. So it's no surprise that H & M feel that she was hated by the country - who was standing up for her?

If it was true that William was having an affair and Meghan was thrown under a bus to distract from it, then no doubt H & M would be upset.

It had come out in the past that H was often thrown under the bus in the press to cover things that W did. Could it not be the case that M has come along and said "this is really not ok, you don't have to live like this"? Who was on his side until then?

Then you have PA with his disgusting behaviour, and even the Queen biblically supporting him and refusing to let the Met investigate. Also, PMofK wearing that Blackamore broach to the big dinner that M was invited to.

Why the hell would any woman with a vague sense of self respect want anything to do with the in-laws in those circumstances? If she posted on MN she would be told to go NC and to protect her child. If her husband didn't back her, she would be told she had a DH problem.

Maybe, just maybe, Meghan has provided Harry with a fresh set of eyes and he has realised how deeply fucked up his family is, and how toxic our press are? Maybe she has given him the courage to act on what he said he wanted to do - live a normal.life. Perhaps now he has his own son, he can't understand how he was ever made to walk behind his mums coffin, supposedly to minimise the chances of PC being attacked. Age 12 and used as effectively a human shield.

Perhaps NONE of this is Meghans doing, except giving him the courage and love to say "this isn't ok"?

Or, you know, you could get out more pitchforks for her to add to the ones the public waves before this announcement.

SirChing · 14/01/2020 01:58

Publicly not biblically......though as the head of the CofE.......

CatherineOfAragonsPrayerBook · 14/01/2020 01:59

I would have thought building a global empire to benefit oneself using titles and stolen resources would be very British actually. Love how you're all so outraged. Ain't karma a bitch. Cheers from the Colonies, enjoy.

Grin Grin hilarious!

Chest infections are awful! I've not had one for ages thank god, I'm a total baby if I do. Hope you get better soon Flowers

CatherineOfAragonsPrayerBook · 14/01/2020 02:14

Maybe, just maybe, Meghan has provided Harry with a fresh set of eyes

This has definitely happened. But the effects don't appear to be positive.

and he has realised how deeply fucked up his family is

So that's why he's suddenly treating his GP's like crap?

andyjusthangingaround · 14/01/2020 02:17

@Catherinesofaragon ☺️ Thank you!
Cannot remember the last decade I had it so bad... but my GP doesn’t want to give me Amoxicillin 😔
DP is trying his best with Wick vapour rub plus earplugs 😂

DarkOceanWater · 14/01/2020 02:56

Harry and Justin have a lot in common though so you can understand this move.

'I see you like to go 'black face', my preference is to go the whole hog and dress fascist. Much less mess - saves so much on the dry cleaning. Obvs can't expense that so much now'

SecretGuiltyPleasureLoveIsland · 14/01/2020 03:14

And I am loving the comments from Doria about the importance of being true to yourself, from the mother who left her teenage daughter in the sole care of her father for years so she could find herself. I do sometimes thing that the West Coast of the USA is another planet..

If this is true (either what is written or implied) then Meghan didn't stand a chance. She would probably have been better off being born without her beauty, which has catapulted her onto this stage.

The pair of them seem so damaged and I think it's natural for damaged people to cling together.

This is my attempt at being compassionate towards MM as I have very mixed feelings and she set off my sixth sense soon after the engagement.

Jaichangecentfoisdenom · 14/01/2020 03:36

Nobody notice that showbiz article about Nicola Cliffe's theory on William's affair is dated April Fool’s Day, then?

LaMarschallin · 14/01/2020 04:53

TheMustressMhor

I can't believe we're heading towards a fifth thread.

Henry V or Henry IV Part II?

Moomin8 · 14/01/2020 06:06

So that's why he's suddenly treating his GP's like crap?

Previous staff at the palace have said how nasty courtiers are and how they set traps for newcomers to the firm. If Meghan was also treated in this way then I should imagine that could be the reason.

mrscampbellblackagain · 14/01/2020 06:12

Interesting how a PP asserted it was known that Harry had to take the fall for some of William's misdemeanours. Any examples of that? Was it William dressed as a Nazi and they photoshopped Harry's head on? Was it William who called a fellow soldier a racist insult?

Would love to see Harry be interviewed about racism and how his own past isn't exactly perfect when it comes to that.

GlamGiraffe · 14/01/2020 06:45

fallen121 · 14/01/2020 06:56

Can we have a new thread please?

Shaminon · 14/01/2020 06:59

The vast majority of posters on this thread are totally unreasonable, over invested and happy to repeat words with no basis whatsoever in fact.

I think you all need to take a big step back.

MissEliza · 14/01/2020 07:01

He has realised how deeply fucked up his family is What family isn't ?! Seriously. If anything one thing in the Windsors' favour is they stick together

WendyMoiraAngelaDarling · 14/01/2020 07:07

I think you all need to take a big step back

In what way? We are discussing a current news story on an Internet forum, not waving pitchforks and bellowing revolutionist demands outside Frogmore Cottage.

We need a new thread don't we Smile

SetPhasersTaeMalkie · 14/01/2020 07:13

I really hope MNHQ move these threads to the royal family topic.

savethecat · 14/01/2020 07:15

I think it's all a bit gross. The bad press is real but in one way a red herring.

This pair just want control and to be free to make personal financial gain off the back of the royal brand.

Let's call it for what it is.

fallen121 · 14/01/2020 07:15

I think you all need to take a big step back

My life is pretty shit at the moment. This thread has given me a few laughs. Yes, some people are taking it pretty seriously but nothing that is said is really going to influence or change anything, it's just social commentary after all.

LaMarschallin · 14/01/2020 07:15

I think you all need to take a big step back

Rubbish advice that.

I tried it.
Nearly impaled myself on the pitchfork of the person behind me.

We need a new thread don't we smile

Looks that way Smile

Cerseirys · 14/01/2020 07:17

Totally agree @Shaminon. The royal family has had its say and anything else is pure speculation. The assumptions are ridiculous - I saw a poster on another thread saying Kate "deserves" a new dress because of all she's been through. How does anyone know what any of them have been through apart from what's printed in the tabloids? And exactly how stupid do you have to be to fall for it?

And the hilarity of comments like "when they married I told DH that it would all end in disaster". Like you have any idea - you don't know these people! Little England is alive and well on Mumsnet.

And as for feeling sorry for Queenie, well her behaviour over Andrew has left me with very little respect for her so I couldn't care less.

Get rid of the lot of them, they're utter wastes of space.
