I am waiting with interest to find out what happens next, following on from this afternoon's talks at Sandringham.

Poor old Queen. She can't have finished the leftover turkey yet and here she is, embroiled in another crisis.

Some of this is totally mad now. Zero credibility for:

  • Doria having been in prison.
A) It would have come out by now! B) even if it hadn't been made public by now, the Royals would know from the background checks they will undoubtedly have had done on Meghan before the wedding, and then they'd have forbidden Harry from marrying the daughter of a jailbird. Simply can't be true.
  • MM super fan making up the affair story then getting prosecuted, and there's no trace of it on the internet? Come on @Teddy1970, you'll have to do better than that!

@NotEverythingIsBlackandwhite

Wow. Meghan HAS been busy.

Clearly when I go to stock up on tampons and toothpaste in the cut price chemist next Christmas, in addition to offering me a phone top-up and flavoured condoms at the till point, they'll be asking if I'm interested in a limited edition "Scent of a Duchess" gift set as well. Can't wait!

rockingchaircandle · 14/01/2020 00:31

I'm no fan of the Royal Family, but Harry can be proud of the way he's stood up for his wife, and they've been pretty brave to leave the firm. The toxic, racist press and crazy vitriol from the more obsessed margins of the public aren't an environment you'd want to raise a family in!

CatherineOfAragonsPrayerBook · 14/01/2020 00:32

The Queen must be sad. The woman is in her 90s and she gets this crap.

SeperatedSwans · 14/01/2020 00:32

"scent of Duchess" the smell of desperation and social climbing.

fallen121 · 14/01/2020 00:34

Roll on Xmas!

Teddy1970 · 14/01/2020 00:35

*Butterymuffin" No trace? The woman has written a whole bloody blog on why she thinks William is guilty of an affair! It spread around Twitter like wildfire and everyone including the press ran with it..no wonder she had her knuckles rapped, her intials are NC.

Butterymuffin · 14/01/2020 00:36

So give us a link!

NotEverythingIsBlackandwhite · 14/01/2020 00:36

@karencantobe

If Phillip really did avoid meeting Harry then that is awful behaviour.
I think he returned to his own cottage, Wood Farm, in the grounds of Sandringham because he is retired so is no longer involved in such matters. He probably also knew his anger over the Queen being disrespected might spill over. It was the right thing to do in the circumstances, at least until a decision has been arrived at.

It has also been reported that DOE is largely bed bound and that he is exhausted after 10 minutes of conversation. If that is true then this situation can't be doing him much good.

I hope PH will go and see him after his decision is made and before he leaves for Canada. If may be the last time he sees his grandfather. I think it's very sad for DOE that this is happening at the end of his life when he is ill and less able to support HMQ.

Teddy1970 · 14/01/2020 00:36

Highlight fail...I said my contact lenses were going cloudy!

CatherineOfAragonsPrayerBook · 14/01/2020 00:37

It may or may not be true. However theoretically, why would the RF have stopped H marrying M if her mum had done some time?

Surely her being divorced, from a different religion and an actress who'd done a few racy scenes would have been more of a reason to stop them marrying?

I genuinely don't think it would have made a difference, and it seems as if the RF were keen to be seen as moving with the times in embracing M

DuchessofWoke · 14/01/2020 00:40

I’d agree with that if they were planning to disappear from public life and live quietly in the wilds of Canada chopping wood and fishing.

Don’t think they’re planning a quiet retirement though, do you?

Butterymuffin · 14/01/2020 00:40

Oh, I think it would. Convicted criminal wouldn't have been welcomed by Charles and in the front of the ceremony. I think Harry would have had to renounce his title to marry her in the first place. They don't allow women to wear coloured nail polish, they're not going to tolerate them having been in prison!

JulietJanuary · 14/01/2020 00:42

Chopping wood and fishing!

JulietJanuary · 14/01/2020 00:44

Doria didn't put a foot wrong through this saga, give her a break.

StarbucksSmarterSister · 14/01/2020 00:46

scent of Duchess" the smell of desperation and social climbing.

People used to say that about the Middletons. Someone I know actually called Kate and Pippa "the Wisteria sisters".

The snobbery over women marrying into the RF is appalling, frankly.

ElspethFlashman · 14/01/2020 00:47

How awful if Harry doesn't patch things up with Philip before he passes away.

I hope they saw each other today. Its possible, Harry arrived before Noon. I don't know what time Philip scarpered though.

CatherineOfAragonsPrayerBook · 14/01/2020 00:50

Convicted criminal wouldn't have been welcomed by Charles and in the front of the ceremony.

I still don't think so. If I remember correctly, one of Kate's first public charities was something supporting women in prison or women rehabilitating from prison. So I don't think it's a taboo subject. Genuinely can't see why anything her parents did would have prevented H marrying M. But who knows!Smile

TheMustressMhor · 14/01/2020 00:51

Is this what you're talking about, Teddy?

Ans I can't believe we're heading towards a fifth thread.

OP posts:
PattiPrice · 14/01/2020 00:53

This thread is utterly batshit. This mudslinging and making up stories (and repeating stories read on the internet so therefore they must be true!) is exactly why Meghan and Harry decided to leave you to it.

You realise anyone can make up anything and put it on the internet don’t you? Of course you do. You are doing it yourselves! Saying something doesn’t make it true!

TheMustressMhor · 14/01/2020 00:53

And ^^

@Teddy1970

Even if Nicole Cliffe spread rumours about PW's affair I cannot see that she was prosecuted.

OP posts:
DeeZastris · 14/01/2020 00:55

I don’t think Charles would have wanted to stop Harry from marrying someone he clearly loved. After all Charles should have married camilla the first time around.

Doria clearly hasn’t been to prison - the press would have had a field day.

TheMustressMhor · 14/01/2020 00:57

@PattiPrice

I do not think that Harry and Meghan will escape online scrutiny just by moving to another country.

They have t'internet in Canada.
