The only Black/mixed race member of the royal family has been bullied and insulted to the point that she's made the decision to step back.

OP posts:
crestedrobin · 09/01/2020 20:11

I've never read any racist posts about her, just critical ones of her the same and even perhaps less than Fergie got. I've never actually read anyone saying she should "know her place". It's like something from centuries ago.

malylis · 09/01/2020 20:19

Oh so her being "uppity" isnt that?

Nor is a slur commonly aimed at black women by white ones ?

Not only are posters racist they are dumb.

WineOrGinOrBoth · 09/01/2020 20:35

Doors to manual- aimed at Kate & her mum.

That’s just one I can think of.

Duchess of Pork.

Diana was vilified & only became a saint on her death.

Camilla was the most reviled woman in the country at one time.

Meghan isn’t alone in receiving abuse. Not that it makes it right of course.

See the common denominator- all women. All married to royal men.

StarbucksSmarterSister · 09/01/2020 20:37

There are 7.5K comments on that post on Leave EU. I'm not wasting my time reading them but I'd shocked if some aren't racist, bearing in mind that the few I looked at were so nasty and some hideously sexist.

Walkingdeadfangirl · 09/01/2020 20:41

Maybe 'standing down' will allow Harry to reconcile with James Hewitt.

WineOrGinOrBoth · 09/01/2020 20:43

Don’t be ridiculous walking. He’s the image of his grandfather Prince Philip.

Leflic · 09/01/2020 20:53

Surely the racists have only won if they have taken away something from her.
Given she’s still married to her/the Prince, is loaded, has a child that’s in line for the throne but has now cut free of the restrictions of behaving within the restrictions of royalty....I’d say she has.

Walkingdeadfangirl · 09/01/2020 21:02

WineOrGinOrBoth he is also the spitting image of James Hewitt and looks nothing like Charles. It is probably what has contributed to him feeling like an outsider and given him so much in common with Megan.

malylis · 09/01/2020 21:04

He isn't anything like James Hewitt apart from the hair, which of course is in Diana's side of the family.

Diana didn't meet James Hewitt till after she had Harry.

WineOrGinOrBoth · 09/01/2020 21:04

He looks nothing like Hewitt. As I understand it Diana had met Hewitt after Harry’s birth.

Bobleywobley · 09/01/2020 21:18

I don't think racism is the reason people are giving her stick. Do you remember the stick Camilla got? The stick Pippa Middleton got? Was Diana black? She got major stick. Can those stating racism in the press against Meghan please link to any of the racist comments in the press? You cant do loads of crass, badly advised things and then deny people the right to criticise by saying they are racist. It undermines the fight against actual racism.

Poppyfields21 · 09/01/2020 21:20

Not her race. It’s her hypocritical, simpering, condescending, holier than thou personality.

malylis · 09/01/2020 21:22

"Please link to any if the racist comments in the press"

Its not blatant, but its definitely there and here. None of this "above her station" stuff for any of the others, or accusations of money grabbing or anything else. Not as much abuse for very minor things.

The documentary might be badly advised, but nothing else really

Repugnant denial going on here from the pathetic.

zasknbg · 09/01/2020 21:29

Meghan has received racist abuse, there's no doubt about that. But I would say that most of the assassination of her that has been done by the press is not racially motivated. I think the press motivation is simply money/sales/getting talked about.

eg: what has her race got to do with the argument/publicity with her estranged half sister? Absolutely nothing. Samantha mouthed off again and again about random stuff and the press lapped it up. Ditto her father and his antics trying on a suit and getting photographed (amongst other stuff). What has that go to do with race? Nothing, it's just gutter press fodder and serves as entertainment because society has sunk to those depths. She didn't fall out with her family members over race. But the family member stuff was really how all the headlines started. Plus the printed stuff about Meghan not getting on with her staff, again, wtf is that to do with anyone's race? Also, the stuff about Meghan and Harry preaching about the environment and then taking a private jet, again, I fail to see the race issue there. The 2 million for doing up their house, again nothing to do with race.

I think they'll have a nicer life in Canada/North America and in their position, I wouldn't hesitate to go. The press assisnation has been nasty. They'll be adored celebs, rather than criticised royals. They'll have no financial problems. Imagine how much they could make just from speaking at dinners! Meghan is a fantastic actress and made shit loads of money and could still do that, probably making many times more as she is now even more famous. Harry is only 6th in line to the throne so he can go off and live any kind of life he wants IMO. 3 generations would have be be wiped out for him to be the monarch.

Bobleywobley · 09/01/2020 21:29

I've never read anyone mentioning her being "above her station" or anything similar. I dont think people can link to anything vaguely racist in the press because this is not because of her race - its a red herring. I would agree it could be a bit of sexism going on - the way she's getting a bit more of the blame than Harry, but racism, no - not that I've seen.

crestedrobin · 09/01/2020 21:31

No doubt there has been racist comments about her, but that doesn't make her above criticism. She's done plenty to wind people up.

KenDodd · 09/01/2020 21:33

I remember that even after the Grenfell fire Leave EU was full of the most disgusting posts about the tenants there. Some were getting hundreds and hundreds of likes as well. No surprise they wouldn't like MM.

You really aren't very bright.

And he doesn't look particularly like Hewitt at all. He does look the spit of his grandfather at the same age though.

WineOrGinOrBoth · 09/01/2020 22:07

Now grandson & grandad look alike. Harry & a friend of his mother who she met after he was born - not so much.

To think Racists have won this round.
Walkingdeadfangirl · 09/01/2020 22:09

It does make sense though

malylis · 09/01/2020 22:10

Doesn't at all.

Just gives simple people more rocks to throw.

Walkingdeadfangirl · 09/01/2020 22:11

Harry & a friend of his mother who she met after he was born

I know because people who have affairs never lie about the dates of when it started. Its not as if the royal family have history for doing this. Oh wait...

malylis · 09/01/2020 22:15

Yet Harry manages to look like both his maternal and paternal relatives.

Funny that, sad sack..
