The only Black/mixed race member of the royal family has been bullied and insulted to the point that she's made the decision to step back.

Very interesting taht his speech has been aluded to, but the points he made are sublty swept over. Wankerati sums them up

ScreamingLadySutch · 09/01/2020 11:24

Wow, what are people saying that Mumsnet Towers are deleting so many??

Don't be ugly, people.

Do people honestly look at Megan and see black??? I see a beautiful woman.

But I do not think this is going to end well.

I do think Harry has issues as they say in the trade, his decision to isolate himself from his family and friends, 'reinvent' himself and invest everything into relationship with one person, is a risky strategy. Enmeshment doesn't tend to end up in a happy place.

Deadposhtory · 09/01/2020 11:29

Late also had topless photos printed. Any woman who married into the royal family gets a hard time. In Diana's day there was less social media

Tink2007 · 09/01/2020 11:33

I don’t particularly like her, I feel she thought she would waltz into the Royal Family and be a national treasure. However that is nothing to do with her race.

I do feel if you have anything less than a positive to say about MM then you are immediately deemed a racist which is absurd.

Tink2007 · 09/01/2020 11:34

And I also think people have to be able to separate MEDIA and SOCIAL MEDIA.

Both are two very different entities.

2BthatUnnoticed · 09/01/2020 12:05

Hang on, how is seeing Meghan as Black in any way inconsistent with seeing “a beautiful woman??” Utterly bizarre comment.

One thread please..stop attention seeking

This must be a nightmare for the moderators

GetOffYourHighHorse · 09/01/2020 12:09

'I think they are deluded and churlish. They want attention on their terms, pout when it's negative. It's very tiresome.'

Yes. I hope their career as the new Kardashians goes very well. Interesting to see their new web site is called Sussexroyal.com. Anyone would think they like to be royal without having the criticism, duty and scrutiny that goes with it.

I'm sure the US will be willing fans, I just worry Harry will regret this as he was so close to his family previously.

It must have something to do with living in Africa.

You carry on using race as a prism (unconscious racism, much?), here in Africa we genuinely don't notice. We notice beautiful full lips, hair or whatever, we don't go 'oooh, black!'

Gotcha Wink

Frothybothie · 09/01/2020 12:22

Is that Africa the village, Africa the town or Africa the country?

It's a continent. An African from Algeria is different to an African from Kenya, from Ghana and from South Africa.

EnriqueTheRingBearingLizard · 09/01/2020 12:28

See there is your racism again, why would a multi millionaire who has already been on a world syndicated series and movies need money or to make a name for herself?

Oooh she should know her place shouldn't she?

For what it's worth once I heard of her, which was only through her association with Harry, I regarded her as a beautiful and successful actress, on a moderate scale. She was obviously making a decent living, but I wouldn't have said she was 'a name' Now she's a global name.

It's of no consequence to me and millions like me who'd rather see a happy relationship than one dictated by nationality or race, but I'm disappointed in how all this has come about. Whereas Harry is grandchild of the current Monarch, if things followed their usual course, he would become son of the King and then brother of the King, a senior royal sharing duties when Princess Anne and the Wessexes no longer do.

If this was all about their son's life and upbringing I could see where they were coming from, but they seem to want both sides of the coin and also seem to be vastly underestimating press intrusion as they monetize their connections going forward.

I think they're simultaneously naive but calculating and the whole idea of their future has been very badly handled.

2BthatUnnoticed · 09/01/2020 12:34

“Carry on using race”?? That was my first comment ffs. What’s virtuous about it? Confused It is simply a fact.

Rumboogie · 09/01/2020 12:41

*@PrettyPity

Archie is black.*

😂 😂 😂 😂

2BthatUnnoticed · 09/01/2020 13:18

I wish them both well. They have been visibly unhappy, hopefully this is a positive change.

I read their website. My impression was they want to make money and control press access. I didn’t see much about service or duty.

I’ve got an awful feeling they might now monetise their titles for personal gain... I hope I am wrong.

I live in a Commonwealth country. I would not want them visiting here in any “official capacity,” I am shocked at their conduct. It would feel a bit like hosting the kardashians!?

JanesKettle · 09/01/2020 13:39

Meghan is a liberal feminist

Yes, posting messages of support for sex workers carved into a banana on Instagram is the height of feminism.

She is a wealthy successful woman with a lovely healthy son and a wealthy husband who appears to adore here. Together, they have a 'name' to monetise in pursuit of their new life.

Any problems she experiences are miniscule in comparison to the plebs.

Has anyone else seen all the nasty racist (and sexist) comments on Leave EU's Facebook page about MM?

Rumboogie · 09/01/2020 19:20

@KenDodd

Has anyone else seen all the nasty racist (and sexist) comments on Leave EU's Facebook page about MM?

Have just had a look at this because of your post.

No sexist and definitely no racist comments - not a hint! where did you get this?

makingmammaries · 09/01/2020 19:37

I suspect that MM is a narcissist, H is unhealthy dependent on her, hence all the bleaty emoting about the evil press hurting her, and that he will now dance unhappily to her erratic tune for the rest of his days, or until she ceases to find him interesting.

crestedrobin · 09/01/2020 19:38

Anyone seen "Archie" lately. Confused haha.

crestedrobin · 09/01/2020 19:46

I'm sick of reading the "ooh she should know her place" pathetic remarks. I doubt anyone even thinks that, on here anyway. Who even thinks in this day and age that a mixed race person should " know their place" It's us plebs the taxpayers who "know our place".....right at the bottom of the heap.

malylis · 09/01/2020 19:55

Loads of people here have made it very clear that's what they think.

Nasty little racist trash, every last one who has.

KenDodd · 09/01/2020 20:08

@rumboogie
I follow them and a meme from them came up on my newsfeed. A picture of Harry with MM foot on his neck. Loads of nasty racist comments underneath.
