DH is refusing to buy me medicine

DH (as in dickhead right now) is at a mates house 10 mins away, and has refused to buy me paracetamol for my cramps, my period is due next week and I always get these awful cramps before my period. It hurts, I can’t sleep. Kids in bed, corner shop down the road from me and he says I should wait til he gets home, and he doesn’t know when he’s leaving. Shop is closing 11pm. He’s got a car and it will literally take him 2mins to come here. AIBU to think he’s being inconsiderate? Sad

Selfish. Very selfish.

Lucky44 · 01/01/2020 22:14

YANBU. He is a dick

ClarencesMum · 01/01/2020 22:16

Absolute selfish tosser.

My DH just drove a few miles to the nearest open shoo to ge some crisps and dip for me before we settled down for a movie. I thought I'd bought some but hadn't and was disappointed. I didn't even have to ask.

Completely inconsiderate.

Sharpandshineyteeth · 01/01/2020 22:17

He is yes.

If the person who is meant to love you the most won’t inconvenience himself for 5 mins to relieve your pain, is he worth it?

Bluebutterfly90 · 01/01/2020 22:20

Your DH is being a knob.
I used to get cramps so bad that I literally texted my DP: do not come home without painkillers.
YANBU, he should buy the paracetamol.

Cryingoverspilttea · 01/01/2020 22:29

Paracetamol is the worst pain killer for period pain so on that front yabu. But yanbu for expecting him to be nice.

jomaIone · 01/01/2020 22:36

Are you expecting him to leave his mates early to get you painkillers? If you are then that is a little unreasonable. I wouldn't so that for my DH and wouldn't expect him to do that for me.

If you know you get these awful cramps every month then maybe should be more organised??

pointythings · 01/01/2020 22:38

That's awful and selfish. Also Ibuprofen is better against period pain if you can take it (some people can't) as it is an antispasmodic.

TheReluctantCountess · 01/01/2020 22:38

You should have been more prepared.

Bluebutterfly90 · 01/01/2020 22:39

@jomaIone
You wouldn't leave a friend's house a couple minutes early to grab something from the shop for your partner? Confused

Lex234 · 01/01/2020 22:41

YANBU. If pain is that bad, I would ring local taxi company to pick you some up and drop them.off. They probably will do this and charge a small fee. DH is paying btw.

Mulledwineinajug · 01/01/2020 22:41

Would some of you really, if your partner was in pain and unable to get to the shop themselves, say your should have been more organised’ ?! 😱
And leave them to a sleepless night of pain?

Your partners are lucky to have you 🙄

GeorgieTheGorgeousGoat · 01/01/2020 22:43

Where does it say it mean leaving only a couple of minutes early? He said he doesn’t know when he’s leaving.

EKGEMS · 01/01/2020 22:43

Jomalone Oh do shut up-would it kill you to show her a little compassion?

Savingforarainyday · 01/01/2020 22:44

Hang on....
Your period is due next week?

So.... do you have cramps not, or are you expecting to get cramps next week?

Copperblack · 01/01/2020 22:45

He is very unreasonable. Mind you if I asked my DH to buy me some paracetamol he’d come back with Kung po sauce, so I try to be self sufficient when it comes to shopping. Have you got a hot water bottle or anything else that might help? Is there a neighbour you could ask for painkillers? Is there any calpol knocking about?

AnneLovesGilbert · 01/01/2020 22:45

You poor thing. No help now and not trying to rub it in but I pick up a box of paracetamol every other shop so we’re always drowning in it. Mefanamic acid is the single best period pain painkiller, get it prescribed, it makes life worth living again. Ibuprofen is good too.

Your husband is a selfish arsehole. You deserve better.

CherryPavlova · 01/01/2020 22:48

Why don’t you keep a supply at home knowing it’s going to happen?

Chloemol · 01/01/2020 22:50

@CherryPavlova. Perhaps not everyone is as organised as you?

SandyY2K · 01/01/2020 22:54

Do you have pain now? Or expecting it next week? If the latter YABU.

I also think you need to keep medication at home and be more organised..your period is no a suprise.

I had a situation with DD..not getting her prescription on time for MA for her period pains, then....trying to make it my problem.

Organisation is the key...This comes to mind
Lack of planning on your part, doesn't constitute an emergency on my part.

CherryPavlova · 01/01/2020 22:54

Perhaps but it doesn’t take a genius to maintain a supply of basic essentials like paracetamol, does it? You can hardly expect someone to drop everything for something you knew was going to be needed and slate them if they don’t.

Nat6999 · 01/01/2020 22:55

Get some Feminax Ultra if your cramps are bad & every time you pass a pharmacy, get another pack so you have a reasonably good stash then replace what you use each month.

jgjgjgjgjg · 01/01/2020 22:56

But it's Wednesday evening. Your period is due next week. Not tonight. Or tomorrow. Or the next day. Or the day after that. Or the day after that. You have lots of chances to buy paracetamol. Not seeing the problem??

userxx · 01/01/2020 22:56

Have you got a hot water bottle you could use to help with the cramps before you can buy some paracetamol.

Fidgety31 · 01/01/2020 22:56

Can’t you just to to the corner shop ?
