DH is refusing to buy me medicine

DH (as in dickhead right now) is at a mates house 10 mins away, and has refused to buy me paracetamol for my cramps, my period is due next week and I always get these awful cramps before my period. It hurts, I can’t sleep. Kids in bed, corner shop down the road from me and he says I should wait til he gets home, and he doesn’t know when he’s leaving. Shop is closing 11pm. He’s got a car and it will literally take him 2mins to come here. AIBU to think he’s being inconsiderate? Sad

OP posts:

I think yabu for asking him to leave his friends early to bring you paracetamol. Go fill a hot water bottle or run a bath and the warm water will help. He will bring the painkillers on his way home.

jomaIone · 01/01/2020 22:57

Of course I would pop into the shop on my way home but from the OP, it sounds like she is asking him to leave now to get paracetamol when he isn't ready to leave yet.

It's period pain, which she gets every single month. Not an emergency or urgent.

Livpool · 01/01/2020 22:58

Leave his friend early - YABU

Go on his way home - YANBU

Babyg1995 · 01/01/2020 23:00

Grab your hot water bottle or go for a bath make sure you are stocked up for next time.

WizardOfAus · 01/01/2020 23:01

Prize dick

Allgirlskidsanddogs · 01/01/2020 23:01

Not the loving response you expect but maybe he’s not being any more unreasonable than you - after all you know your cycle and could have anticipated the need for painkillers?

Justaboy · 01/01/2020 23:01

Christ! he really loves you dosent he?.

What he like most other times?

Why do you put up with an arsehole like this?.

DramaAlpaca · 01/01/2020 23:01

Off the point, but bad cramps a week before your period is due is unusual and if I were the OP I'd be making an appointment with the GP to get it checked out.

MarthasGinYard · 01/01/2020 23:03

Have a mooch through your handbags prob a few paracetamol at bottom.

I wouldn't expect him to fetch it.

Get a good supply in

Justaboy · 01/01/2020 23:03

Yes she could have been stocked up but even so its only being kind and humane to get your mate things like that when she's in need!

ahenderson270 · 01/01/2020 23:03

Wait .. woah.. some of you seemingly are having a grumpy hung over day because I cannot believe some of you fellow suffers of menstrual drama would be so nasty to someone in the throes of the sadness that is cramps!!

Read her post properly .. she clearly states she always gets the cramps the week before and she is in a lot of a pain AND her little ones are in bed .. she very obviously cannot go to the shop herself 🤦🏻‍♀️

Also .. embarrassed to have to point out the obvious.. but it's winter .. what happens a lot to people in winter .. colds, coughs, flu and illness so.. perhaps she might usually be well stocked for the period cramp onslaught but in them midst of cold and flu season the usual stock pile of paracetamol has been consumed .. it doesn't mean she should have to suffer so as not to inconvenience her life partner for 10 mins so she might get some blessed relief from pain and some flipping sleep!! It also doesn't warrant being called disorganised and useless by a load of strangers online!

Consider how you feel in the run up to your period .. would people be a little hard on you based on assumptions they've maybe gotten wrong .. just .. pause before you press post ladies and think about the affect of your words.. please?

Haworthia · 01/01/2020 23:05

Look up endometriosis. It’s not normal to have crippling cramps in the lead up to your period starting.

TheFaerieQueene · 01/01/2020 23:06

If the OP has a stock of pain relief is not the point. I’m amazed that her DH can have fun with a friend knowing his DW is in pain at home without any means to relieve it. I certainly couldn’t.

jomaIone · 01/01/2020 23:06

ahenderson270

Woah. Chill out! 🙄

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 01/01/2020 23:06

Yes but we only have her side if the story.

What if her dp is always getting called or texted whenever he is out to come back early? Maybe he went shopping earlier in the day, asked her what she needed and she said nothing - now he is being asked to cut his night short to get her shopping.

MrsBertBibby · 01/01/2020 23:07

He's being an arsehole, OP. Is this normal for him?

SandyY2K · 01/01/2020 23:07

AIBU to think he’s being inconsiderate?

Yes a YABU. You know your cycle.

You know you get cramps before your period.

Paracetamol is not an expensive medicine to keep in stock at home. I reiterate a little organisation does it.

If the genders were reversed and he had a regular medical issue, he'd be accused of being disorganised..you wouldn't be called an arsehole...as he has been on here.

gluteustothemaximus · 01/01/2020 23:07

my period is due next week and I always get these awful cramps before my period

Notice OP says BEFORE her period.

As in NOW.

Yes, your DH is being a dick. No matter who's fault, who should have bought them, that you've run out, who gives a fuck. It's really really simple.

Person A is in pain, person B loves person A. Person A says can I have painkillers please. Person B says.....nah.

What a dickhead.

MarthasGinYard · 01/01/2020 23:08

Is this something you regularly do?

I have never had to do this, so if I asked DP he'd do it in a heartbeat as it would be so rare and he'd be concerned.

userxx · 01/01/2020 23:08

@ahenderson270 Bloody hell.

Wellmet · 01/01/2020 23:08

Have you got any Calpol OP? There will be an adult dosage.
Surely you have painkillers of some description in the house?

TheBabyAteMyBrain · 01/01/2020 23:09

I would for dh and he would for me. You have kids, any calpol kicking around? Have that a hot bath and a hot water bottle.

Cramps are misery, you have my sympathy

TheBabyAteMyBrain · 01/01/2020 23:09

Great minds @Wellmet

Lweji · 01/01/2020 23:10

You are in pain and he's refusing to get you pain killers now.
Arse.

Is he like this normally?

SandyY2K · 01/01/2020 23:10

@jomaIone

ahenderson270

Woah. Chill out!

I agree with you.
