To feel like I've been had?

Has anyone else fallen victim to the atrocities of "Scruff-a-loves" ????

My smallest begged for one for Christmas - being the incredible gullible mum I am, I obliged.
Not just any though, it had to be the one with babies.
"2,3 or 4??"

Obviously 2.

But - once dipped in water and swirled around a bit, it's meant to transform into a glossy haired toy of dreams.

See attached photo. Not really what the box or advert suggested.

£25!!!!!!!

I feel like a prize plonker.

Fml. Dd is now 14, from your description she'd have loved that, I would have been you. Though sweet lord, waste of money.com!!! Wtf is that minging little creature?! How is that even a thing??

ProfessionalBoss · 30/12/2019 23:14

I'd be tempted to throw it in the tumble dryer, or use the hairdryer, then brush its "hair"

7yo7yo · 30/12/2019 23:14

Same here. Bag of shit.

Jollitwiglet · 30/12/2019 23:15
Grin

Looks like the sort of toy that's eyes follow you all around the room

ClientListQueen · 30/12/2019 23:16

Kinda looks nothing like the video!

paranoidmum2 · 30/12/2019 23:16

I would take it back like that to the shop. No way would they deny a refund.

FthisS · 30/12/2019 23:17

Yes my daughter had 3 different versions of this for Christmas, I thought we had gone wrong somehow but clearly not Grin

happinessischocolate · 30/12/2019 23:18

Oh god, as per a pp im so glad my dd is too old for stuff like this, I never recovered from the cost of build a bear to be honest

ProfessionalBoss · 30/12/2019 23:18

As I thought, you need to dry and brush them, although when I looked it up online it says they're aware of counterfeits...

Star81 · 30/12/2019 23:18

Same here - She still loves it bizarrely ?!

PinkiOcelot · 30/12/2019 23:19

What the he’ll is that? £25?!! Can you complain and get your money back?

PinkiOcelot · 30/12/2019 23:22

@FthisS you spent £75 on them?!

melj1213 · 30/12/2019 23:22

Yabu - my daughter has one of these and it's not a case of drop it in water, swirl it round and it's transformed.

You put it in the water, towel dry it, then use a hairdryer and the brush provided to groom it into the "glossy haired toy of dreams".

It's like putting your kid in the bath, dumping water over their head and then leaving them to drip dry instead of brushing/styling their hair and wondering why it's dried into a tangled mess.

Petrichor11 · 30/12/2019 23:22

It’s the sort of thing my sister and would’ve loved. My sister would’ve loved your soggy bedraggled one MORE because it clearly needed rescuing the most!

Hopefully it’ll improve once it’s dried and groomed!

GlitteryGracie · 30/12/2019 23:23

Grinlooks like something we had left behind at the church Christmas fair.

Have you tried brushing and blow drying it? Confused

tickyandtackyandjackiebackie · 30/12/2019 23:24

She loves the bizarre money sucking fuzz ball.

Idk why.

I believe it's existence is solely to mock me when I make eye contact.

Every time she carries it around I hear the sound of pound coins going down the drain...

It's dry in this photo!!

I hope, giving it another dunk in water will help.

If all else fails, I'll stuff an old sock with rice. Same right?

Lindy2 · 30/12/2019 23:27

It looks very much in need of a brush and a blow dry.

tickyandtackyandjackiebackie · 30/12/2019 23:27

Feel free to add a photo of your daughters perfectly quaffed toy to inspire us mere mortals @melj1213

Lipperfromchipper · 30/12/2019 23:28

To be Fair I thought this too but the more you wash and dry it the better it gets! Good luck OP.

Lindy2 · 30/12/2019 23:28

What did it look like before its "transformation"?

windycuntryside · 30/12/2019 23:28

You have not been robbed .. you have purchased her the toy of her Christmas wishes, she will remember the scruffy love for it for years. You are a brilliant mum

Ponoka7 · 30/12/2019 23:29

You just need to brush it out.

My GD wet hers again and prefers her's scruffy.

windycuntryside · 30/12/2019 23:29

But it doesn’t indeed look ...... a mess.. sorry

LaurieFairyCake · 30/12/2019 23:32

It's gorgeous 🥰😘🥰

How can you not see it's true beauty
