NC for this. I just read that Mark Ronson has identified as sapiosexual meaning he is attracted to intelligence. Is this a gender? I recently met someone who identifies as non-binary, she (this is one of her pronouns) is a lovely person, but I found that difficult and now this. AIBU to think I'm really out of touch and I just cant get my heard around it?

I can only really get it on with mustachioed plumbers who have a catchy theme tune.

I am a supermariosexual.

Durgasarrow · 20/09/2019 02:30

Oh hello people. Do you hear that twanging noise? That's the sound of my eyes rolling around and around in my head.

WatchingTheMoon · 20/09/2019 02:37

I mean, if you watch the video, it's very obvious that he is joking. He is laughing, the presenters are laughing.

TheSandman · 20/09/2019 02:38

@TonTonMacoute

Why can't we say we're all unique, have sex with who we want, wear what we want and have done with it, without boring everyone else shitless with it all, and giving them a hard time for using the wrong pronoun.

This.

(Who is Mark Ronson anyway?)

TruthIsFalse · 20/09/2019 02:51

Ironically, he's attracted to intelligence but wasn't smart enough to know the word for it.

Fuma · 20/09/2019 03:10

Yeah he's taking the piss. Along with both of the presenters in that segment. It's actually quite funny. He's a good guy.

Cheeserton · 20/09/2019 03:38

leave people alone to do and be whatever and whoever the hell they want.

Yes, leave him alone to be an utterly pretentious wanker who takes the absolute piss out of real questions of sexuality with this obvious bullshit. If that's what he wants.

JAPAB · 20/09/2019 03:43

Can't see why this bothers some people so much. Whenever there is such a thread, there will be a whole bunch of posters posting about how much they don't care about this sort of thing and what people call themselves.

Jesaminecollins · 20/09/2019 04:36

@TheSandman

You don't know who Mark Ronson is? I am one of his greatest fans and here he is with Miley Cyrus.

malificent7 · 20/09/2019 04:38

Nowt wrong with being attracted to intelligence...who isn't? However...sapiosexual? I assumed he was taking the piss when i saw the headline.

malificent7 · 20/09/2019 04:41

I thought sapiosexual meant attracted to humans and assumed he was taking the mick. He isnt...oh dear!

Jesaminecollins · 20/09/2019 04:47

I just read this

clockworklime · 20/09/2019 05:50

What's that one where you are sexually attracted to attention?

Cheeserton · 20/09/2019 05:55

'Comes out' as sapiosexual makes a pure mockery of the experiences of true sexual minorities and the issues they face.

YobaOljazUwaque · 20/09/2019 06:09

Sapiosexual isn't the wankiest of the recently invented sexualities - that prize goes to "demisexual" - which means you are a person who wants to form an emotional connection with someone before you want to shag them. Obviously this attitude is very special and different and unusual so needs its own word and pride flag etc.

Ringdonna · 20/09/2019 06:34

Is this another gender?

HandsOffMyRights · 20/09/2019 06:54

But he's so very speshial.
I wish I was special...

Is this a spoof? Spinal Sap?

I can picture the record company bosses, scratching their woke beards and twiddling their silly moustaches: "How can we top the Sam Smith navel gazing and make more money?

"Hang on a mo..."

Glitterfisher · 20/09/2019 07:06

@RosesAndRaindrops it was on GMB and was nothing, it was literally a few seconds. This thread has made me laugh but also the nastiness towards him when he hasn't actually done anything is a bit unpleasant.

I am clearly not intelligent enough though as I didn't really realise it was anything out of the ordinary. Lots of things other than looks attract people and that isn't unusual. No need for a label.

Unknownanon · 20/09/2019 07:49

Some people are obsessed by labels; they may take comfort in them, or are attention seeking or on a bandwagon. My friend has OCD and finds labels a comfort: demisexual (not sure), omnivore, two others to do with political and thinking i never remember.

My niece however is late teens and attention seeking bandwagoner. Feels like it changes every 2 weeks.

AmateurSwami · 20/09/2019 07:51

Does this mean that he spent a lot of time masturbating over pictures of Einstein and Stephen Hawking? Did he date ugly yet exceptionally clever women and men? Or did biological sexual attraction still play a massive role in who he is attracted to?

Couldn’t have said it better myself.

AppleBlossomTimeNow · 20/09/2019 07:57

Wasn't he being ironic?

PositiveVibez · 20/09/2019 07:58

I mean, if you watch the video, it's very obvious that he is joking. He is laughing, the presenters are laughing

Of course he is, but the majority of posters couldn't be arsed finding out what was actually the case.

If he knew there were mumsnetters frothing at the mouth to jump on the bandwagon an bemoan him, he'd probably find that funny too.

ODFOx · 20/09/2019 08:03

Not a gender, a sexuality. Meh.
Though if you follow the current thinking I guess the less intelligent could effectively lobby him for being dullardphobic?

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 20/09/2019 08:14

But PositiveVibez - the sad thing is that no one even bats an eye that it could be genuine.

nonmerci · 20/09/2019 08:16

I don’t think he’s being serious, I think it was a joke.
