Mark Ronson has identified as sapiosexual

NC for this. I just read that Mark Ronson has identified as sapiosexual meaning he is attracted to intelligence. Is this a gender? I recently met someone who identifies as non-binary, she (this is one of her pronouns) is a lovely person, but I found that difficult and now this. AIBU to think I'm really out of touch and I just cant get my heard around it?

It's a bit of funny one.

I mean finding intelligence at the active is as old as the hills, but it would be that you're homosexual, heterosexual or bisexual and find intelligent people of the appropriate sex attractive.

I don't quite get what he's announcing. Does he mean he finds anyone intelligent attractive regardless of their gender?

So he's pansexual and likes intelligence? Why does that need categorizing?

So if as a woman i find men with dark hair attractive. Do I need to say I'm homoeumelaninfolicalsexual?

BertrandRussell · 19/09/2019 23:19

I am as sure as I can be that it was a joke.

QuimReaper · 19/09/2019 23:23

Oh thank GOD. I misread the title and read half the thread thinking we were talking about JON Ronson! What a relief!

Actually, with some of the things Jon Ronson has been saying lately I wouldn’t be surprised at anything!

CadburysTastesVileNow · 19/09/2019 23:28

Does he fancy Jacob Rees-Mogg then?

fruitbrewhaha · 19/09/2019 23:30

I am as sure as I can be that it was a joke.

Yes, he tends to have a dry sense of humour.

You have all gone crazy! As have the press it would seem. There really is a very straightforward explanation if you look at the context.

Hirsutefirs · 19/09/2019 23:32

Attracted to saps.

VanGoghsDog · 19/09/2019 23:39

It's been an option on Plenty Of Fish for years.

Tonnerre · 19/09/2019 23:42

Does he fancy Jacob Rees-Mogg then?

Hardly. It's intelligent people he fancies, not people who pretend to be.

Glitterfisher · 19/09/2019 23:49

FFS he didn't actually say this, not in the context the OP is suggesting

zebrasdontwearbras · 19/09/2019 23:53

If he did say it to take the piss out of SS, then it's top trolling, I have to say.

But he's mates with Miley Cyrus is he not? Who managed to have some sort of LGBTQIAlphabettiSpaghettiSoup+++ marriage didn't she? Despite being a woman who married a man. Apologies if I misremembered this - haven't googled. It's possible I'm getting my attention seeking celebs confused Wink

SleepyKat · 19/09/2019 23:54

His sister is a mumsnetter. Grin

BigChocFrenzy · 19/09/2019 23:55

I'm caniosexual and feliosexual - he must like dogs & cats in the house

SleepyKat · 19/09/2019 23:56

Oh I’m thinking of Calvin Harris, scrap his sister being a mumsnetter...wrong person!

EskewedBeef · 19/09/2019 23:57

FFS. He must love watching sheepdog trials, they're really clever creatures.

AnOojamaflip · 20/09/2019 00:00

And dolphins. They might be wankers but he'd still give then the eye I bet

Whoops75 · 20/09/2019 00:01

New fangled way of saying personality is more important to him than looks.

Once you keep it age appropriate, consensual and within the species anything goes.

AnOojamaflip · 20/09/2019 00:03

What about birds? But only the ones that won Bird Brain of the Year, obviously.

RosesAndRaindrops · 20/09/2019 00:04

@glitterfisher
He didn't actually say this not in the context the OP is suggesting

Ha, why does that not surprise me in the slightest on here if so?!
Grin
Nobody posts something out of context on here to get people frothing, with no sources, noo! Doesn't happen, refuse to believe it lol Grin
Links, people, links - so people can see for themselves what was actually said
(Although I stand by my earlier post which says I'd never heard of sapiosexual before) Grin

RosesAndRaindrops · 20/09/2019 00:05

So now I need to know the source for this to be able to comment properly.
Fuck me, MN is bonkers sometimes lol

EskewedBeef · 20/09/2019 00:06

It's the fact he has to 'identify' as this nonsense that makes it so risible. He's attracted to clever people, that's all. I like people who don't take themselves too seriously, but I don't identify as a notmarkronsonsexual.

Longlongsummer · 20/09/2019 00:06

Apparently intelligent women get less dates. Which is depressing.

EskewedBeef · 20/09/2019 00:08

We don't need to date.

Bloodybridget · 20/09/2019 00:52

Never heard of Mark Ronson. Which probably means I'm not intelligent enough to be attractive to him. Good-oh.
