NC for this. I just read that Mark Ronson has identified as sapiosexual meaning he is attracted to intelligence. Is this a gender? I recently met someone who identifies as non-binary, she (this is one of her pronouns) is a lovely person, but I found that difficult and now this. AIBU to think I'm really out of touch and I just cant get my heard around it?

I thought sapiosexual meant a person who is sexually aroused by a person's intelligence. That's it. It's not really a sexual orientation. And its not some 'new' sexual identity.

Intelligence is relative. Is it relative to you? How is intelligence defined?

Is it Brian Cox level of intelligence? Are you allowed to be attracted to people who are not intelligent?

I am assuming, until priced otherwise, that he was joking. Trouble is, others will take him seriously.

He obviously saw Sam smith had decided they are an it and saw how much attention they got (I tried not to use he). He wants in on the identifying/labelling publicity, he's realised he's not gay or indeed a woman so it's the best he can come up with, short of identifying as a tree.
