Mark Ronson has identified as sapiosexual

NC for this. I just read that Mark Ronson has identified as sapiosexual meaning he is attracted to intelligence. Is this a gender? I recently met someone who identifies as non-binary, she (this is one of her pronouns) is a lovely person, but I found that difficult and now this. AIBU to think I'm really out of touch and I just cant get my heard around it?

Ugh. Pity (for him) most intelligent women/people will recoil from anybody who says they are only into intelligence.

Anyway, I've had some wonderful fun with a couple of boyfriends who definitely weren't clever, but were oh, so very pretty. DP is smart and it definitely works better on a day to day basis, but there is more to attraction/love than a mensa membership.

Touchmybum · 19/09/2019 21:13

Load of shite!!

familycourtq · 19/09/2019 21:14

Has he, perchance, got some new product to promote roundabout now ?

Motherinlawsdung · 19/09/2019 21:16

Assuming he is not being ironic or taking the piss I have to say that his declaration is a complete oxymoron. No one who understands the meaning of intelligence would make such a ridiculous claim.

familycourtq · 19/09/2019 21:16

Has he got some new product to promote by any strange chance?

AllFourOfThem · 19/09/2019 21:18

Surely this has been around for centuries without the need to label. Very few people are attracted to stupidity!

JustTurtlesAllTheWayDown · 19/09/2019 21:18

I've come across a number of men saying they're sapiosexual on dating sites.
They tend to be dim bulbs who fancy themselves intellectuals and are looking for that rare woman who'll get aroused by all their impressive manly pontificating.
No idea about Ronson but never met one who wasnt a pompous arse.

Frangible · 19/09/2019 21:18

Well, in fairness it wouldn’t be that hard to be cleverer than Mark Robson’s.

Frangible · 19/09/2019 21:19

RONSON.

JustTurtlesAllTheWayDown · 19/09/2019 21:19

I dont think it's a recent thing though. Its been around for a while.

OnTheBayou · 19/09/2019 21:19

Non-story. There was a segment on the term sapiosexual earlier in the show and they asked him if he agreed with the sentiment of fancying someone for their intelligence and he said yes. Hardly 'came out as sapiosexual'

Why is it necessary to announce your sexual preference?
Am I expected to care?

Well, speaking as a non-heterosexual it IS often necessary to make sure people know my sexual preference, otherwise people will assume I am straight and I'd never get laid.

You aren't expected to care, but people who might be into Mark Ronson presumably want to know. 'sapiosexual' is wanky, but if it attracts other self identified wanky sapiosexuals and keeps them busy with each other it's no skin off my nose.

This has nothing to do with gender.

Oblomov19 · 19/09/2019 21:20

Is he serious? What a load of cock!
I am attracted to daft as a basil brush people. Especially when drinking. Wine

maddening · 19/09/2019 21:22

Cis thick people just don't understand 😭😭

JustTurtlesAllTheWayDown · 19/09/2019 21:24

Ah, that's something else then. Not surprised though. Everyone's got to have a label and if you dont have one, there's always someone keen to pin one on you.

tillytrotter1 · 19/09/2019 21:24

What? Why can’t he just say he’s attracted to intelligent people and leave it at that, why on earth does he need to jump on the woke bandwagon and come up with a stupid label for it?

Maybe he is treating the 'woke bandwagon' with the contempt many feel for all bandwagons! Can I 'identify' as chocosexual please?

chomalungma · 19/09/2019 21:26

Is he attracted to intelligence, regardless of sex...

Or is he a heterosexual sapiosexual?

OnTheBayou · 19/09/2019 21:28

the hosts ask him, jokily, if he could class himself as a sapiosexual, putting the words in his mouth, and he plays along with the joke, laughing

worth noting that it was on Good Morning Britain who live for frothing people up about stuff like this

QueenWhatevraWanabi · 19/09/2019 21:28

What the fuck is this now, people can't just start making stupid shit up!

BertrandRussell · 19/09/2019 21:29

He’s Shrodinger’s Wanker. Simultaneously not a wanker for fancying brains over looks, but a wanker for calling it a Thing and identifying as it.

Helmetbymidnight · 19/09/2019 21:31

Isn't that normal? He can't think it's unusual, can he?

HidingFromDD · 19/09/2019 21:32

sapiosexual is nothing to do with gender and is just a sexual preference, it's been around for decades in kink community. I'm sapiosexual as I don't have a physical 'type', intelligence turns me on, do prefer a dick with it though :-)

Not sure why it's become a 'woke' thing now, to me, it's just the same as saying ' I like a fit bloke with a big beard'. It's very subjective though. My type of intelligence is mathsy and musical, others may find quantum physics sexy (actually, I quite like quantum physics too....)

NicolaStart · 19/09/2019 21:33

Is he attracted to computers?

Artificial Intelligence? Or Biological Intelligence?

The Artificial Intelligentsia are Intelligentsia!

Uh oh.... This has a familiar ring to it... I see trouble ahead

ReanimatedSGB · 19/09/2019 21:34

Ooh, if he's trying to be 'woke' he's out of date. The really woke don't like the term any more, Mainly because the only people who use it (apparently) are white men trying to perform how unsexist they are for valuing women's intelligence over eg big tits. Only these men then don't like it if a woman is actually clever than them...
