Random dog urinated all over my shoes. What do I do?

As the title suggests, a random dog urinated all over my shoes and jeans. A friend and I were in a local park, sat on a bench, when a dog runs over and does this completely out of the blue. The dog walker came over and apologised and took my details but I have yet to hear anything from them.

I was wearing suede shoes with fur detailing at the time so all hope of cleaning them is lost Sad the bottom of my jeans and ankles were also covered in urine which was incredibly unpleasant. Needless to say I had to go home and clean myself up so ended up having to cancel some of my plans for that day.

What would you do in my situation? Sadly the shoes were quite expensive although they were 6 months old. I’m annoyed that this person was not able to control their dog and i feel the owner has a responsibility to put things right. Any advise would be really helpful.

Wash your jeans, have a shower & get over it.

IncrediblySadToo · 18/09/2019 21:43

Oh & wipe your shoes over.

You’ll live. Honestly.

Bookworm4 · 18/09/2019 21:44

I’m sorry I laughed, a dog done this to my sister, well she had green trousers on, we joked he thought she was a lamp post.
Did going home to get changed really need to mean you cancelled your whole day?
I’d just laugh it off get some suede cleaner, it’s just one of those things, you could just as easily slipped in mud. Don’t take things so seriously 😉

Fookinwot · 18/09/2019 21:44

Shit (and piss) happens. Wash your stuff and move on.

EdWinchester · 18/09/2019 21:44

Christ's sake.

Get over it.

PersonaNonGarter · 18/09/2019 21:45

Can’t really believe you started this thread. Grow up.

RedHelenB · 18/09/2019 21:45

Unfortunately my ddog did this to an old man sitting on a bench. Luckily he wasnt bothered.

MadameButterface · 18/09/2019 21:46

Real fur? Ew. Perhaps the dog was trying to tell you something.

loverose · 18/09/2019 21:46

My neighbours puppy had a wee on my bare feet. It happens!

Laugh, wash up and move on.

adaline · 18/09/2019 21:46

It's unpleasant but I don't know what you expect the dog walker to do?

Your jeans and socks can be washed and as for the shoes - what do you want to happen?

EdWinchester · 18/09/2019 21:46

..and I am intrigued by your 'suede shoes with fur detailing' Grin

recrudescence · 18/09/2019 21:46

The dog walker took your details but you didn’t take the dog walker’s? If s/he doesn’t get in touch, I’m not sure there’s much you can do.

TheQueef · 18/09/2019 21:46

Lamppost Grin

Sparklingbrook · 18/09/2019 21:46

Ewww that's horrible. I think i might have asked for the dog walker's details too.

Not much you can do now, if they haven't contacted you already I doubt they will. Sad

RavenLG · 18/09/2019 21:46

I think they did you a favour to be honest Grin

Seriously op, have a wine / gin / whatever floats your boat, wash your legs / trousers / shoes and laugh about it. It’s not the end of the world.

Lockheart · 18/09/2019 21:46

How long ago was this? I assume you don't have the dog walkers details?

Take the shoes to a specialist cleaner or a dry cleaners. Almost everything is cleanable, I wouldn't write them off just yet.

hushnowthanks · 18/09/2019 21:47

How did you expect the owner to take control? It’s simply nature taking its course. What do you think the owner could have done to prevent this from happening?

Digitalash · 18/09/2019 21:47

Pic of shoes is required I don't see how they are completely ruined suede or not.

TamarindCove · 18/09/2019 21:48

This happened to me at an outside table at a park cafe. My friend just convulsed with laughter as did I, a combination of shock and seeing my friends reaction.

It wasn't the most pleasant thing to have happened to me, but it makes me chuckle when I think about it. The dog owner was very apologetic but I told him not to worry about it. I just washed me, my trousers and my trainers!

You could get some suede cleaner for your shoes.

sparklefarts · 18/09/2019 21:48

Suede with fur detailing? Please post a pic OP, no one is imagining nice shoes with that description

Sparklingbrook · 18/09/2019 21:48

Why would a dog wee all over someone though? Is that classed as acceptable?

JumpyLiz · 18/09/2019 21:49

The dog walker came over and apologised and took my details

What for, snazzy autumn/winter shoe reccs? You took theirs, right?

Lockheart · 18/09/2019 21:49

Accidents usually @Sparklingbrook. I've never known a dog deliberately seek someone out to wee on.

There was probably something which smelt interesting on the bench and it was aiming for that instead.

Greatnorthwoods · 18/09/2019 21:49

Crap happens, move on. I am sure you have stepped in worse.

MyNewBearTotoro · 18/09/2019 21:50

Surely you would have moved your feet away as soon as the dog cocked it’s leg and started to urinate - I can’t undetstand how your shoes or jeans would end up soaked unless you just sat and watched rather than making any attempt to move yourself or the dog?
