Random dog urinated all over my shoes. What do I do?

As the title suggests, a random dog urinated all over my shoes and jeans. A friend and I were in a local park, sat on a bench, when a dog runs over and does this completely out of the blue. The dog walker came over and apologised and took my details but I have yet to hear anything from them.

I was wearing suede shoes with fur detailing at the time so all hope of cleaning them is lost Sad the bottom of my jeans and ankles were also covered in urine which was incredibly unpleasant. Needless to say I had to go home and clean myself up so ended up having to cancel some of my plans for that day.

What would you do in my situation? Sadly the shoes were quite expensive although they were 6 months old. I’m annoyed that this person was not able to control their dog and i feel the owner has a responsibility to put things right. Any advise would be really helpful.

Um, do nothing? Put your trousers in the wash and buy new shoes if they can't be cleaned. It would be nice if the dog owner offered to pay towards new shoes, but it's not really that likely.

Crap happens
It was a pee Smile

leli · 18/09/2019 21:52

Yep, another one for "don't be precious and get over it!" You have no recourse because you don't have the dog walker's details. It's just one of those things. It's a funny story, dine out on it. And everything can be cleaned.

Hiredandsqueak · 18/09/2019 21:52

Steam is good for cleaning suede steam and blot with a towel and your shoes will be right as rain. It's unfortunate but I'm not sure you are owed compensation as a result.

Yerroblemom1923 · 18/09/2019 21:53

We need to see these shoes.

sweeneytoddsrazor · 18/09/2019 21:53

I would have been cying with laughter if I had seen this. How was the owner unable to control their dog? The dog did a wee it happens. In a few years time you may well be peeing in your own jeans when you sneeze/cough/laugh.

Bookworm4 · 18/09/2019 21:53

@TheQueef
Honestly hilarious, even more that she just stood there 🤣🤣 I was creased 🤣🤣 Said she didn’t want to put him off mid leg cocking 🤣🤣

BeanBag7 · 18/09/2019 21:53

Why didn't you take his details as well?

Oysterbabe · 18/09/2019 21:54

Did you take their details? I would expect them to offer to pay for new shoes.

Orchardgreen · 18/09/2019 21:54

Nobody died.

sparkles07 · 18/09/2019 21:55

If it was real fur, I feel Mother Nature was just getting her revenge.

Suck it up buttercup.

misspiggy19 · 18/09/2019 21:55

Whilst very unpleasant you sound like a major drama queen. Cancelled plans? Why haven’t you put your trousers in the wash already?

After some compensation are we?

Killerqueen2244 · 18/09/2019 21:56

Were you wearing Apple bottom jeans too?!!

EdWinchester · 18/09/2019 21:56

Anyone else imagining the shoes?

Random dog urinated all over my shoes. What do I do?
Pardonwhat · 18/09/2019 21:56

What type of suggestions are you after? Suing them? Wiping your shoes?

NotACleverName · 18/09/2019 21:56

Find the dog and piss on it. Show it who's boss.

ElizaPancakes · 18/09/2019 21:56

I’d be really grossed out by this Confused I expect dogs to be under control enough to not piss all over a person.

I don’t think you can do anything though unless you stalk the park for the owner!

Celebelly · 18/09/2019 21:56

This happened to DP once. Never mind the dog, I nearly wet myself laughing. He'd been making a big fuss of patting the dog and cooing at it and then it just cocked its leg and pissed on him Grin When I suggested he should be honoured as the dog had obviously chosen him and was telling other dogs to back off, I got glared at Sad.

Celebelly · 18/09/2019 21:57

Also someone puked on my feet in a pub once when I was wearing open-toe strappy shoes Envy (not envy). But a quick wash in the sink and I carried on with my night Wine

Sparklingbrook · 18/09/2019 21:58

I don't think it's unreasonable to want to sit on a bench and not have a dog wee all over your shoes and jeans. But I seem to be in the minority, and it's hilarious. Confused

Babayaggatheboneylegged · 18/09/2019 21:58

I’d be pissed off too! Grin

What, are we all supposed to be cool about being pissed on and just go about our day, covered in dog wee? Confused

Marshmallow91 · 18/09/2019 21:59

I second @NotACleverName!

JumpyLiz · 18/09/2019 22:00

Killerqueen2244

Were you wearing Apple bottom jeans too?!!

I bet she had the whole park looking at herrr

Sparklingbrook · 18/09/2019 22:02

Apparently so @Babayaggatheboneylegged. If you were maybe off hospital visiting or for a job interview after a sit in the park then who cares? Confused

Lockheart · 18/09/2019 22:02

It's not unreasonable at all @Sparklingbrook, but accidents happen and clothes can be cleaned.
