AIBU?

Random dog urinated all over my shoes. What do I do?

As the title suggests, a random dog urinated all over my shoes and jeans. A friend and I were in a local park, sat on a bench, when a dog runs over and does this completely out of the blue. The dog walker came over and apologised and took my details but I have yet to hear anything from them.

I was wearing suede shoes with fur detailing at the time so all hope of cleaning them is lost Sad the bottom of my jeans and ankles were also covered in urine which was incredibly unpleasant. Needless to say I had to go home and clean myself up so ended up having to cancel some of my plans for that day.

What would you do in my situation? Sadly the shoes were quite expensive although they were 6 months old. I’m annoyed that this person was not able to control their dog and i feel the owner has a responsibility to put things right. Any advise would be really helpful.

At least it was only wee OP, it could have been worse. A rescue dog that was being fostered by a friend once humped my leg and ejaculated on the new dressing gown I was wearing - it was my birthday and the dressing gown was a gift.

But dogs can somehow instantly produce pee in order to mark their territory?

I'm confused at the timing... Did you just stand there and watch it cock its leg? Reaction times are your own problem I reckon.

As you were sitting your feet were free to boot the monstrous animal, hard.

@NotTheMrMenAgain that’s just grim.

Wash the jeans Ditch the frankly ridiculous shoes.

I'm nearly 50, too. Like 3 weeks off 50. Shoes sound worse than ridiculous.

I'm 100% with OP. There is no way that I'd be wearing wee soaked jeans or boots again. Revolting. They'd have to go in the bin.

Perhaps this thread divides those who aren't parents and those who are and are used to having baby wee/poo all over them.

My parents' dog, lovely as he is, can pee every 20 seconds for as long as it takes to walk around his village.

I once had to intervene when a tall dog lifted its leg and began to wee on a baby who had been left in her car seat on the footpath. I was too late to prevent the baby from getting some wee on her head but at least she wasn’t soaked.
I left the mother and the dog owner in heated discussion and legged it.

Dongdingdong it happened so quickly I didn't have time to react really - think the poor fella had a problem! He was a big dog so it wasn't a tiny amount either. It was a fake fur, fluffy dressing gown, so I assume he thought I was a large, gorgeous lady-dog! Needless to say it went straight into the washing machine.

Agree with you OP, dog owners seem to think they and their dogs can do what they like instead of respecting people. You should have taken the owner's details who should have prevented this from happening and I know this won't be a popular opinion but they owe you a new pair of shoes.

Really? Not at all. I'm not going to sit there and allow some foul animal pee on me, I assume that if a vagrant peed all over you you wouldn't mind.

As others have said, wash your clothes and get over it!
Things happen. It’s called life.
Stop with the whole “where there’s a blame there’s a claim” thing. Suck it up (not literally!) and move on.

First take off your shoes and socks. Then wash your feet as soon as possible

Were they fur & suede sliders?

Maybe the dog is the fashion police.

I do feel for you OP. I do not like dogs, I can't stand when I walk in the park and they approach me when not on a lead, trying to sniff me with their dirty noses marking my clothes while their owners shout : don't worry, love, it doesn't not bite!
Once I was in the park with my child in a pram, the dog run to us and did wee on our changing bag. The owner of that dog was just a rude abusive woman.
I do believe that the dogs must be kept on a lead all the times and I don't find your situation funny at all.

I'd be pissed off too. I wouldn't be laughing as I rinsed the dog wee off. Nothing much you can do but the dog owner should have made amends at least a bit for the damage.

Minging, i would find trying to wash wee out of things repulsive, wee ain't going in my washing machine nor am i doing it by hand!
I'd have to bin them, since i personally wouldn't want to wear them again, and damn right i'd expect the owner to pay to replace 6 month old shoes.

NumbersStation · 18/09/2019 23:29

I'm not saying I'd be impressed.

I wouldn't be booting an animal or another human being. That alone is the behaviour of a foul person.

Well if it's real fur then it serves you right.

I don't mind dogs to be honest but just hate that horribly entitled behaviour some a lot of dog owners have.
