How often do you wash your towels?

I wash mine after two goes and I regularly bleach... husband thinks I'm mental? AIBU??

Sounds a little excessive to me tbh
Unless you are using a towel for something unpleasant 😳
In our house towels are used to dry us after a shower
I’d say, give or take, 3/5 days
As long as they are hung up to dry properly
Not left in a shitty pile on the floor.........teens

FeeFee832 · 27/08/2019 00:43

No, nothing unpleasant! Just shower and dry. Shower every day! White towels... so bleach to keep white!

I wash every towel I own hourly, whether they've been used or not.

Anything else is just lazy.

HTHs

theunrivalledjoysofparenting · 27/08/2019 00:46

. Yes, mental. Think of the fucking planet.

Greeborising · 27/08/2019 00:48

Then I’d say you’re NBUR
if you want to bleach your towels you do it!
Not sure why your DH is complaining
He’d have something to complain about if his towel was grey, stiff and smelly 😁

Greeborising · 27/08/2019 00:49

Oh Raining !
Honestly!
🙄

Expressedways · 27/08/2019 00:50

Mental. You know you are clean when you get out of the shower. Once a week in our house. My towels aren’t white but I do bleach the white bed sheets every so often so I get where you’re coming from there, it does keep them whiter. But every 2 goes is nuts, between that and clothes and bedding how the hell do you find the time?!

JoxerGoesToStuttgart · 27/08/2019 00:51

I wash them after every use.

OP you bleach your towels?

JoxerGoesToStuttgart · 27/08/2019 00:53

You know you are clean when you get out of the shower. Once a week in our house.

Why do you wash clean towels? Confused

Keepthebloodynoisedown · 27/08/2019 01:00

Once a week, towels and bedding. I do them both on the day the cleaner comes, so everything is nice and clean.

I don’t have white towels anymore, but Milton brings the colour up brilliantly, I use that rather than bleach.

Golightly133 · 27/08/2019 01:04

Every time they are used i wash occasionally put used towel on the line to dry

HoomanMoomin · 27/08/2019 01:15

7-10 days. Depends whether they’re dirty or not. Every 2 days is excessive imo.

SignedUpJust4This · 27/08/2019 02:34

This again. Going by some MNer I just buy brand new towels and tea towels and toilet brushes every time I use them.

Or ideally hand towels get washed every 2 days. Bath towels every 2/3 uses. But I'm disgusting.

Preggosaurus9 · 27/08/2019 02:42

I'm a slattern then.. towels are lucky to get done 2 weekly Confused

AllBellsNoWhistles · 27/08/2019 02:53

Wash towels?
I don't even USE towels. I prefer to drip dry while pondering the environment.

BetterEatCheese · 27/08/2019 02:54

Blimey I don't understand why they would need washing so much, they've only been on a clean body. Once every couple of weeks here. They're hung properly to dry after every use and are never smelly, and are never dropped onto the floor.

No wonder the world is in a state with this much washing going on! Doesn't it ruin the towels quickly?

Oly4 · 27/08/2019 02:57

Once a week.
Washing after two uses is unnecessary and bad for the environment

avamiah · 27/08/2019 02:59

I wash our towels when they look dirty or I find them thrown on the bathroom/bedroom floor which is usually every day.😱😱

Seahorseshoe · 27/08/2019 03:01

Every time we use them for a shower. Now we have an empty nest, the load is considerably lighter. They smell if they are damp.

Topseyt · 27/08/2019 03:04

A couple of times a week here. There are four of us living here, sometimes five.

However, I'm very slatternly. You do know that you should by changing and washing them at least hourly, don't you!

Lucafritz · 27/08/2019 03:10

Mine gets washed once every week with my clothes for that week i own a huge stack of them but only use one or two as the rest have gone all hard and horrible Confused any mners have a tip to get them soft and fluffy again ? Ive tried white vinegar and that didn't work for them unless i did it wrong

Skittlesandbeer · 27/08/2019 03:21

Weekly, only hot wash I do. Certainly not bleach- my family are not toxic, and they know how to wash. Plus, yes, the planet.

Hand towels get changed over twice a week, but washed in the hot wash with the others.

Shooturlocalmethdealer · 27/08/2019 04:15

I wash towels after every use. All of my family do the same.

NChangingAgain · 27/08/2019 04:29

Your husband is right!

Big waste of time/water/environment. They're used on a clean body and if hung to dry, don't smell. Every 10 days ish for us.

I've never bleached our towels and the while ones still look white...why don't you try not bleaching for a while and see if you can see the difference?

All this rubbish, non-eco washing powder, toxic bleach etc being pumped into our drinking water system is no good for anyone.

WanderingTrolley1 · 27/08/2019 05:37

Your husband is right, you are mental.

Our towels are washed once a week.
