How often do you wash your towels?

I wash mine after two goes and I regularly bleach... husband thinks I'm mental? AIBU??

Once a week! The tea towels get changed more often (probably once every couple of days) but all other towels get changed once a week.

Maybe2020 · 27/08/2019 09:05

@Fairylea yes that’s what I do I don’t wash towels every single day probably one loaf of towels a week as we have quite a lot anyway.

I just wouldn’t use the same towel for my next shower.

Maybe2020 · 27/08/2019 09:06

@Benjispruce so you don’t wipe your arse dry? After a shower?

LaurieFairyCake · 27/08/2019 09:09

My main bath towel is probably every 3 or 4 weeks. It doesn't smell and dries fast (it's hot in London) and I'm clean when I use it.

I change the hand towels for the loos weekly.

Just, the environment 🤷‍♀️

Caspianberg · 27/08/2019 09:11

Bleach? Why? All our towels are white, and still remain white after many washes, none have ever included bleach.

The sun is best to naturally keep whites white. I use the tumbledryer to keep them soft, but if the weather is nice they get hung outside first to dry. Then just a quick 5 mins in dryer to refluff. Same with white bedding.

LaurieFairyCake · 27/08/2019 09:11

In summer I practically drip dry (separate hair towel) and I've never used any sort of bleach on my towels - and I wash them at 40.

makingmammaries · 27/08/2019 09:14

I do hope you iron them, OP, otherwise think of the bacteria on them.

YesQueen · 27/08/2019 09:14

@Maybe2020 I mean I dry my actual bum but I'm not delving BlushGrin literally a swipe across it

Predicter · 27/08/2019 09:15

3 or 4 weeks?! We have 2 bath towels each here and they all get washed once a week. They all get hung up to dry but are definitely ready for a wash at the end of the week. Why would you want to make yourself smell after a shower by using a minging towel? If you’re going 3/4 weeks without washing towels you cant be showering daily or stink again after you do surely?!

SlothMama · 27/08/2019 09:26

Every 2 weeks, you are clean when you leave the shower after all...

Grandmi · 27/08/2019 09:27

Depends how long they have been lying in a heap on certain bedroom floors!!

Benjispruce · 27/08/2019 09:30

Ok so just had a shower and took more notice of what I do because of this thread. I patted all over but no delving as a pp said. My towel from yesterday was dry before use because I had hung it up. I’m still wrapped in said towel while I apply cream , deodorant etc and I am dry. Towel is mildly damp and I will hang it up. As I’m home today I will hang it in the hot sun for extra marks. Neither I nor my towel smells.

MonChatEstMagnifique · 27/08/2019 09:38

I wash them after every use, I hate towels hanging everywhere drying. We do lots of washing. I do try to look after the environment in other ways but I know this is something I could do better on.

Maybe2020 · 27/08/2019 09:40

@YesQueen 😂

Sunshineinwinter · 27/08/2019 09:41

After they get used Confused

Herefortheduration · 27/08/2019 09:42

My ds is ocd and wont use a towel twice, uses 2 towels every day, sometimes twice a day. I just use whatever is hanging around. Dh and dd use a towel twice but don't like to use a towel someone else has used.
Consequently I'll happily just rinse and hang out to dry. Wash them once a week.

It's a logistical nightmare! Lol

BellyButton85 · 27/08/2019 09:42

Wow...i wash towels after every use! Some posters are saying 7+ days Shock that's really quite vile

CecilyP · 27/08/2019 09:43

It’s the fact I don’t want to dry myself with a towel I’ve already used to wipe my arsehole and wipe my face with it or my husbands for that matter, how an I going to know which towel is which.

Why don’t you each just have a different colour so no inadvertent sharing! And a separate face towel so the one that touches your bum goes nowhere near your face? There, problem solved!

I can’t believe how wasteful some are on this thread. And as for changing every day but washing once a week - I hate the thought of those damp towels festering in the laundry basket. Changing once a week is fine. I would never have thought of bleaching either - being line dried even my cream towels are now white.

Maybe2020 · 27/08/2019 09:45

I can’t help but feel it’s dosgusting to use your towel again after one use without washing.
Plus those who are saying your hurting the environment, how can you go on at someone for washing a flipping towel?
Do you not drive everyday?
There’s plenty of things people do every single day that hurt the environment. So Sorry I don’t want to wipe myself dry with last nights dirty towel, being clean and hygienic is important to me.
Also zoflora is good to put in with bedding/towels and it makes them smell amazing!

GreenTulips · 27/08/2019 09:45

The kids have orange blue and pink towels
Adults have green and different blue

We haBe their school swimming towel

We also have dog towels when he’s been on the beach

Not difficult

Maybe2020 · 27/08/2019 09:46

No thanks @CecilyP. Thanks for your advice, but I’d rather just wash my towels.

CecilyP · 27/08/2019 09:48

I wash them after every use, I hate towels hanging everywhere drying.

Surely they’re even wetter after you have washed them than if you’ve just used them to dry yourself!

OtraCosaMariposa · 27/08/2019 09:48

how can you go on at someone for washing a flipping towel?

Very easily when it's every day or after one use. Some of these "OMG it's disgusting" people deserve to have others having a go at them.

Maybe2020 · 27/08/2019 09:49

Think she odviously means she puts them in a dryer! @CecilyP

Benjispruce · 27/08/2019 09:51

Some people need to learn how to wash themselves properly. Getting out of the shower dirty? What’s wrong with you? Use some soap for god’s sake.
