1 towel per person for 1 week then washed at 60c. Hand towel shared and washed once a week.

OtraCosaMariposa · 27/08/2019 07:21

Not every two days that's for sure. And I don't bleach them either.

Maybe once a week? And they don't smell damp

Sedlescombe · 27/08/2019 07:21

Every week whether they need it or not 😏

Nautiloid · 27/08/2019 07:21

Every 2 days here.

Benjispruce · 27/08/2019 07:24

I’m only patting my clean body down. Why would it need to be washed straight away? 4 people in this house. That would mean the washing machine would be on every day !

jesuschristwtf · 27/08/2019 07:29

Bath towels, tea towels get washed after two uses.

Cobblersandhogwash · 27/08/2019 07:31

What bleach do you use?

Strawberrycreamsundae · 27/08/2019 07:35

I would presume you don't wash properly if needing washing so often OP.
Weekly wash for bath towels here, hand towels a couple of times a week.

Yogurtcoveredricecake · 27/08/2019 07:38

What are you washing your body in? Wee?

Once a week for body towels, hand towels and tea towels changed every 3-4 days.

Benjispruce · 27/08/2019 07:41

These people can’t have jobs surely. I’d lose track of who has had a shower or used their towel. Do you keep a chart or what? I just put them all in on Saturday and issue everyone with a new one.

Benjispruce · 27/08/2019 07:41

Also bleach ruins fabric.

spanglydangly · 27/08/2019 07:42

@ThinkGlow I'm with you!

wonkylegs · 27/08/2019 07:43

My white towels stay white without bleach
I wash only whites together and occasionally dry in the sun - my white towels are over 10yrs old and still bright white.
I wash towels about once a week, or more often if particularly grubby or stinky (after kids play football etc) , in normal wash

Beautiful3 · 27/08/2019 07:46

Once week here. You use bleach?

Benjispruce · 27/08/2019 07:49

We don’t share towels. But growing up in the 70s we did as a family of 5! Funnily enough we were in robust health!

FuriousVexation · 27/08/2019 07:50

My DS somehow has been indoctrinated by one of his bio parents that towels need washing after EVERY use.

I can't tell you how annoying it is to get home after a week away working and not be able to do my laundry because all of our towels are shlooshing away on a 90.

coconuttelegraph · 27/08/2019 07:50

I wash my towels about as often as there are threads about it on mumsnet

So, what, about twice a day Grin

Maybe2020 · 27/08/2019 07:50

Hang on people re use towels they’ve used to dry theirselves after a shower? 🤨
I use a towel once after a shower then it’s stuck in the washing machine.

UserThenLotsOfNumbers · 27/08/2019 07:53

Hand towels get put in the laundry basket after a day's use.
Bath towels get put in the laundry basket after a week's use.
Amounts to one 60c wash per week.

ooooohbetty · 27/08/2019 07:54

When I get out of the shower I wrap myself in a towel. I don't actually pat dry any part of myself. Because I'm clean I think my towels are pretty clean, just wet. I don't use the same towel every day. Therefore I wash them when I think of it. Not even once a week.

ImpracticalCape · 27/08/2019 08:00

Here we go. Is this thread a monthly or two weekly occurrence?

OP you will get a range of responses from: the 'towels get washed when they have started growing fungus, anything else is desperately wasteful and bordering on a hygiene obsession', through to 'I only use towels that have been laundered for 3 hours at 100c and then they get burned in the street once used because I don't want that filth in my house and anything less is just eeeeewwwww'

Take your pick.

YesQueen · 27/08/2019 08:00

@Maybe2020 um yes? I dry myself and hang up the towel to dry for the next shower

Even once a week seems excessive. Assuming you're using on a clean body x7 times. It's only water. Why on earth do you need to wash something in water that's been used to dry off clean water?! (And yes I do wash our towels but no where near once a week).

Nanny0gg · 27/08/2019 08:14

Apart from the environmental issue, I can't believe how wasteful some of you are.

Your laundry, electricity and water bills must be enormous. Towels must need replacing frequently.

Just hang the bloody things up and they'll dry!
