To ask advice on this foot wound? (Pic included)

So last Friday (10 days ago) I fell off a children's roundabout at work and got a few cuts.

This one on my foot was cleaned straight away and I've been cleaning it with TCP but it's getting worse, my whole foot feels bruised and like the skin is being stretched tight and hot to touch too. My lower leg aches.

I plan on seeing pharmacist tomorrow but noticed there's some red lines coming from the wound and when touched it's very tender, I've a few chronic health problems, not too worried as temp is 37.4 it's just so painful.

Anyone got any tips? Don't want to consult dr google and can't sleep with the pain. Feeling such a wuss.

Second that, a and e now, nasty infection that's tracking, you could get cellulitis and or book poisoning. Go now don't wait till morning

HCantThinkOfAUsername · 08/07/2019 02:10

What's tracking?

wotsittoyou · 08/07/2019 02:12

You need painkillers, antibiotics for the infection, and a hydrocolloid dressing to help it heal. I hope you feel better soon.

Aquamarine1029 · 08/07/2019 02:12

You need to go to a&e RIGHT NOW. DO NOT WAIT.

wotsittoyou · 08/07/2019 02:14

Spreading. It means the infection is spreading through your tissue.

HCantThinkOfAUsername · 08/07/2019 02:14

I've had it a couple of days so will be ok until morning it's just the lines that are new. I'm rural and don't drive, my dad who does is away. I'll put a flannel on it, thank you all.

wotsittoyou · 08/07/2019 02:16

Are you on your own with the kids?

wotsittoyou · 08/07/2019 02:19

Sorry, missed your last update. Ensure that you get antibiotics asap in the morning. It won't go away on it's own and could spread further and cause a big problem.

HCantThinkOfAUsername · 08/07/2019 02:21

Yes just me and DC, I will do, thank you.

Butterfly02 · 08/07/2019 02:27

Draw around the red area so that you can see if its tracking (spreading), paracetamol, plenty of fluids and a gp visit in morning for antibiotics - don't take no we don't have any appointments available tell them its urgent.

lovelilies · 08/07/2019 02:29

I work in A&E. That looks like it need IV antibiotics. Sooner rather than later

HCantThinkOfAUsername · 08/07/2019 02:35

@lovelilies honestly that's what I'm worried about, I want to avoid an admission. It's just myself and 2 dc who've SEN and nobody to have them.

Please don’t take any chances, my Mother recently had to have a partial amputation due to a foot infection. She is diabetic so at a higher risk, but still, it highlighted to me how important it is not to mess about with infections!

midsummabreak · 08/07/2019 02:56

Take your children with you, to A& E
Please don't worry, your children can stay with you. Pack a backpack/ bag for each child. Bring their teddy & some bandaids, a favourite toy, a.bottle of water, sandwich, snack.
They can put a bandaid on teddy Make it an adventure.

Infection can spread quickly andmake you very very ill Do not wait.

Sooner you have medical treatment, sooner you are fit to care for children. You are already showing signs infection spreading

Xo xo xo.

midsummabreak · 08/07/2019 02:57

How old are your SEN children

managedmis · 08/07/2019 03:00

Foot looks rough, get it seen to

HCantThinkOfAUsername · 08/07/2019 05:00

They are 6&3, I've rang a few taxi companies with no answer

visitorthedog · 08/07/2019 05:18

You could try NHS Direct and ask for their advice.

visitorthedog · 08/07/2019 05:19

Better to sort quickly otherwise bigger childcare issue if you end up with a hospital stay.

Iputthescrewinthetuna · 08/07/2019 05:36

Keep trying Op. did you draw around it as suggested by pp

cricketmum84 · 08/07/2019 06:17

A&E now. As PPs have said that infection is tracking and you need IV antibiotics immediately.

I had the same lines after a cat bite on my hand a few years ago and was in for 3 days on IV antibiotics with cellulitis.

digdug · 08/07/2019 06:28

Blimey, OP. As you know by now you need to get that seen to ASAP. A&E first thing. I have SEN kids and know how awful the thought is of taking them but you just have to get that looked at.
