To ask advice on this foot wound? (Pic included)

So last Friday (10 days ago) I fell off a children's roundabout at work and got a few cuts.

This one on my foot was cleaned straight away and I've been cleaning it with TCP but it's getting worse, my whole foot feels bruised and like the skin is being stretched tight and hot to touch too. My lower leg aches.

I plan on seeing pharmacist tomorrow but noticed there's some red lines coming from the wound and when touched it's very tender, I've a few chronic health problems, not too worried as temp is 37.4 it's just so painful.

Anyone got any tips? Don't want to consult dr google and can't sleep with the pain. Feeling such a wuss.

Well done for going back OP

BananaRama99 · 08/07/2019 22:13

You definitely need to be seen urgently honey. Go straight to the hospital and be sure to state to them clearly about your medications and immunodeficiency etc. It is clear to see that it has detoriated from earlier and is now oozing.

CorBlimeyGovenor · 08/07/2019 22:15

Can I also add that with sepsis, your temperature can also drop!! temperature alone is not a good indication!! A high heart rate is of concern. Did they take your blood pressure? If you deteriorate even the slightest, go straight back toA&E and ask whether it could be sepsis! My husband was seen and sent away by a triage nurse, only to collapse later. He had flu like symptoms, diarrhea, flushed skin. Not all symptoms are the same. It can commonly be confused with flu or a stomach bug/vomiting. When he arrived at hospital at 4 in the morning, having collapsed on the lounge floor and been blue lighted to hospital, I was told that he might not make it. His chances of survival were slim. His organs failed, his lungs collapsed, he went into cardiac arrest. We had a baby and small child. I came so close to losing him so many times. Do not let the lack of money or the hassle of going to hospital in the dead of night stop you if you need treating. Can you pay for a taxi by cash card/credit card if needed? Hopefully it is a reaction to the TCP that has made it worse. But drs and nurses don't always get it right, sotrust yourself.

I don’t understand why it’s gotten this far! Please tell me you are at the hospital....

Snog · 08/07/2019 22:20

Don't wait until morning OP, you can't afford to risk it.

Sussy81 · 08/07/2019 22:22

Really hope you are at hospital. Thinking of you 💐

fraxion · 08/07/2019 22:26

Really hope you're being seen tonight as it looks as if it has deteriorated from your first pic. It's a bit worrying they didn't clean it before applying that dressing. I had the same dressing applied to a nasty cut in my shin after it was cleaned and patched up with steri-strips. I'm also immuno-suppressed and anytime I have the hint of infection they are all over it.

CorBlimeyGovenor · 08/07/2019 22:27

Please just tell me that you've gone to A&E. Call 111 and they will send a paramedic out to whisk you to hospital! Or 999. I'm not going to be able to sleep unless I know that you are ok and being treated!! Seriously!! I'm on tenderhooks!

Mishappening · 08/07/2019 22:27

It is beyond negligent that you were not asked what medication you are on - and if they had your notes there it should all be there to see.

I really do think you should get yourself back there pdq.

buttertoasty · 08/07/2019 22:30

Hope you are at hospital and getting the care you need!! I can't believe they didn't ask your history.

Cheby · 08/07/2019 22:32

OP, if the doctor you saw earlier genuinely didn’t ask about other medication you are taking, then that’s a serious failing. If you’re up to it when you’re better, please complain.

But in future, you must try to take some responsibility yourself and ensure you tell your doctors your diagnoses and current medication, just for your own safety. Would a medical bracelet help maybe?

Jinxed2 · 08/07/2019 22:33

Please get seen tonight OP. My nan died from sepsis last year and it terrifies me now. Flowers

CorBlimeyGovenor · 08/07/2019 22:37

When you're able, can you please confirm that you are back at hospital and have told them about your history and mentioned sepsis several times. If you haven't gone, can you at least give your broad location so at least we know if we can help out.

Luzina · 08/07/2019 22:41

OP said in earlier post that she's in Pembrokeshire, South Wales

Ilikeyourbeard · 08/07/2019 22:41

Hope you are okay OP ❤️

CaptainCabinets · 08/07/2019 22:41

I really hope you aren't replying because you’re getting the treatment you need.

However, I feel the need to point out to pp that the dressing is a hydrocolloid which has a drawing effect and makes wounds look 10000x worse because they draw gunk out and it just sits under the dressing so it can look like it’s pouring with pus when it isn’t.

FermatsTheorem · 08/07/2019 22:44

OP is in Pembrokeshire, CorBlimey. Somewhere quite rural from the sound of it, and she doesn't drive.

OP, hope you're on your way to hospital by now. Honestly, this is what ambulance are for. And in case of medical emergencies, social services (who are not the monsters they're sometimes painted on here) will organise emergency foster care for your children if none of your family/friends are in a position to help out. (Something I had to look into when DS was younger as I am a single parent, and my nearest family member is 250 miles away). It's no reflection on your parenting, simply an acknowledgement that if you're too ill to look after DC, someone has to make sure they're safe until you're well enough - at which point, DC come back to you!

Threeminis · 08/07/2019 22:51

Goodness op, you can really see a difference in your latest photo.

Hopefully you can get something sorted with your dc.

chickensdontpocktheypeck · 08/07/2019 22:52

Jesus I hope all is well

ShrinkWrap · 08/07/2019 22:53

anothernamechange123 · 08/07/2019 23:02

SpoilsburyToastGirl · 08/07/2019 23:05

I hope you're OK OP Flowers

frankie001 · 08/07/2019 23:07

Itu nurse here. Hope you are at A and E now. You do need to be seen.

Girliefriendlikescake · 08/07/2019 23:12

Hope you're okay op I'm a nurse and echo what everyone else is saying, you need iv antibiotics. That dressing was completely wrong as well 😒 you need something with an anti microbial in it such as silver or even inadine.
