So last Friday (10 days ago) I fell off a children's roundabout at work and got a few cuts.

This one on my foot was cleaned straight away and I've been cleaning it with TCP but it's getting worse, my whole foot feels bruised and like the skin is being stretched tight and hot to touch too. My lower leg aches.

I plan on seeing pharmacist tomorrow but noticed there's some red lines coming from the wound and when touched it's very tender, I've a few chronic health problems, not too worried as temp is 37.4 it's just so painful.

Anyone got any tips? Don't want to consult dr google and can't sleep with the pain. Feeling such a wuss.

Do glad to hear you've gone to hospital OP. Let us know how you get on, it looks like a nasty infection.

MrsStock · 08/07/2019 11:08

@HCantThinkOfAUsername Hope it goes okay and you're alright. You dont need to answer to anyone. What area are you in? I'm in Cumbria if you are local to here and need a lift home. Xx

midsummabreak · 08/07/2019 11:10

Well done on getting yourself there! I am so very glad as you as you are in need of urgent medical help you poorly thing!

HCantThinkOfAUsername · 08/07/2019 12:21

@MrsStock Pembrokeshire South Wales but thank you.

It's quite busy here, haven't seen anyone else, glad I asked here it's so painful I wouldn't have come if it wasn't for you all.

I'm so pleased you made it, don't leave till they've done a full set of Obs on you ie blood pressure etc and taken some bloods re infection. Please insist on this, say you have a friend who's an intensive care nurse (in another Town far away) who has requested you have this done.

Even if you're deemed ok and they send you home with or without antibiotics make sure you get yourself back into A&E if your temperature goes up, you breathe faster or slower or just generally feel like crap or as if you have the flu.

Also take photos regularly of your foot ie every morning and evening.

Tatapie · 08/07/2019 14:23

Hope you get sorted soon OP.

AbsentmindedWoman · 08/07/2019 14:53

Ouch - that foot looks very unhappy, OP. Hope you get seen soon and start to feel better! Glad you went to A&E, Mumsnet is a great place to get a wee push in the right direction sometimes when you're very frazzled with loads of competing stresses like health vs money.

6demandingchildren · 08/07/2019 14:53

thankfully you are in the right place now.

Crunchymum · 08/07/2019 14:56

How is it going OP?

HCantThinkOfAUsername · 08/07/2019 15:03

Just got home, obs all ok apart from heart rate and pulse was borderline.

The dr took a swab and said those results will be back weds and put a dressing on it and told it needs to stay 5-7 days.

He said he wouldn't clean it as I'm allergic to local anaesthetics (rare I know, lucky me Hmm)so this dressing should to the job?

Been given Clarithromycin 500mg and told to keep foot elevated but in the time I was there my foot has swollen so much I couldn't get my shoe back on!

Thank you all for the advice and checking in

If it continues to get worse do go back as it still may need IVs and do rest it as much as possible .

Lolwhat · 08/07/2019 15:17

Go to the hospital you could get sepsis, sepsis doesn’t wait until you’re ready to leave

HCantThinkOfAUsername · 08/07/2019 15:37

Temp was borderline*

Yes I will rest it, thank you all again. If it gets worse I will go back to hospital.

LakieLady · 08/07/2019 15:40

Keep an eye on your temp, OP and if you start to feel unwell, go straight back.

BlueSkiesLies · 08/07/2019 15:53

Jesus thats a really nasty infection! Hope you get better soon now with those antibiotics.

Hairyheadphones · 08/07/2019 15:55

Hairyheadphones · 08/07/2019 15:56

And really soon not reply soon BlushBlushBlush

FooFighter99 · 08/07/2019 16:12

Cellulitis is a bastard, I had it twice last month from some mosquito bites and ended up in A&E twice and on 2 lots of antibiotics cos it just wouldn't clear up. I still have a mark on my ankle 5 weeks after the initial bites/infection!

OP, please make sure you take the anti-b's as directed, rest your foot and take it easy, drink plenty fluids and if it doesn't get better go back to A&E as you may need IV anti-bs to get rid of the infection

Hope you are feeling better soon Flowers

HCantThinkOfAUsername · 08/07/2019 18:19

Thank you I'm hoping it gets better soon. The line is now going up my leg (ignore my unshaven leg)
I just want to cry.

If my temp does get higher I'll go straight up

OP posts:
VforVienetta · 08/07/2019 18:22

Sorry to hear you're still feeling so awful OP.
If the tracking continues and your temp raises please call 111. If it's sepsis you need to go to A&E again, it can progress really quickly.

HCantThinkOfAUsername · 08/07/2019 18:33

Sorry I forgot to add the image

Allfednonedead · 08/07/2019 18:44

OP, bear in mind that a low temperature can also indicate sepsis.

You’re probably fine now you’ve got the antibiotics, but maybe read up on sepsis symptoms just in case.
