TM has agreed to start the process of leaving office in June. I have mixed feelings and am very worried about the future of this country. AIBU to think this is going to make the situation worse and possibly lead to no deal Brexit?

This isn't on the BBC news webpage as yet - do you have a source so we can see when in June? She's not going to have got agreement for anything in the next fornight is she?

MarshaBradyo · 16/05/2019 15:14

Copied from Guardian live
“Brady says May’s meeting with the 1922 Committee was 'very frank'

Sir Graham Brady, the chairman of the 1922 Committee, is speaking now.

He starts by summarising his statement. (See 3pm.)

Asked if May will have to stand down even if she cannot pass Brexit, Brady says he and Theresa May have agreed to meet to discuss the timetable for a leadership contest, regardless of whether or not the EU withdrawal agreement bill is passed at second reading.

Brady confirms that May will be expected to announce her resignation if she loses the vote on the Brexit withdrawal agreement bill in early June.
He says the discussion today was “very frank”. He says he tried to ensure all views were expressed.

Brady says May’s meeting with the 1922 Committee was “very frank”.
“Very frank” is normally code for a blazing row. It sounds as if, as reported in advance, some members of the executive did tell May that she should go immediately.”

Oh Gogd not sur if it’s better the devil you know. But compared to Boris, Rees , Raab etc I am really not sure. I think I will start our stockpiling again. .....

PopWentTheWeasel · 16/05/2019 15:19

Ah. Straight after the next fortnight then.

Parliament gets a Whitsun break doesn't it? No deal Brexit or no Brexit it is then. Probably the former.

Jesus wept.

TheAssemblywomen · 16/05/2019 15:19

Boris 😵

fairweathercyclist · 16/05/2019 15:23

Oh help. Back to stockpiling.

Debfronut · 16/05/2019 15:23

I think she was the best of a horrific bunch and cannot see anything better coming out of this. They will choose from a selection of back stabbers and if we have to have an election the garden gnome may well get a chance to ruin the country altogether. I cannot believe how low the UK has sunk tbh. :(

fedup21 · 16/05/2019 15:23

Ooooh, interesting. Nothing on the bbc yet.

user1497997754 · 16/05/2019 15:23

No Brexit for me

CuriousaboutSamphire · 16/05/2019 15:24

Could they not just call in the fucking Vogons and have done with the Earth entirely?

Could the TARDIS fit the whole plant and fast forward us to the year of human destruction?

Anything but more politicians doing fuckwitted things instead of their bloody job!

PopWentTheWeasel · 16/05/2019 15:24

One of the comments on the Guardian site has pointed out the timing of the Trump state visit. Might be interesting.

Can she rescind Article 50 and walk away, handing it to Boris to have another go if he thinks he can do so much better?

CuriousaboutSamphire · 16/05/2019 15:25

Poor old Beeb, Put out a "No decision" piece 2 whole minutes ahead of newpapers putting out the "She's leaving" message Grin

CuriousaboutSamphire · 16/05/2019 15:26

Don't think the EU will let us go round again. They have said they are looking for a final decision...

MaMaMaMySharona · 16/05/2019 15:26

Ughhh I'm more concerned about her bringing the bloody deal back w/c 3rd June. I've been quite happy not hearing about this whole farce for a little while and now it's going to start all over again!

When will they just admit it was a stupid idea and be done with it.

CuriousaboutSamphire · 16/05/2019 15:26

Then again. what can they do?

Who knows? Or do they just make it all up as they go along?

PalamaLama · 16/05/2019 15:28

At last.

She's wasted three years messing about after promising to fulfil the Referendum result. What a joke of a woman, a politician and a party.

I have zero respect for her complete mismanagement and skullduggery.

The rest of the Tories have sat on the fence. Labour equally ineffective and hedging their bets. Passive and deceitful in equal measure.

I really do hope the Brexit Party do well. Fresh air. Somebody says something they mean. Novel in UK politics in recent years.

Mummyoflittledragon · 16/05/2019 15:29

Thanks for the links. Looks like “Brexit means Brexit” does literally mean nothing.

And yes I’d also like nothing. Nothing to see here. Move along. Back to status quo. Ie no Brexit. Thanks.

Debfronut
I agree, best of a horrific bunch.

Simple Politics (because I need it simple!) updated that Boris has confirmed he will be running for PM if the opportunity arises....

"Say what you like about National Socialism, Dude, at least it's an ethos."

PalamaLama · 16/05/2019 15:31

She was the worst politician in living memory. I hated Bliar and how he took us to war in the middle east, making everything worse, and lying to Parliament at the same time. But she was worse in some ways, even if as much of a liar.
