To think Mrs Hinch should be more honest?

AIBU to think Mrs Hinch should be a bit more honest to her followers about her past? Rather than the likeable, albeit slightly ditty hairdresser she portrays herself to be, she was previously a successful sales person who worked in the City. Herself and her husband paid for articles in the National Press when the Hinch craze first started. He also calls her viewers “Shoppers” on her Insta feed. Nice.

Ahha!
I dont follow her as she uses nasty chemicals and its not my style but a marketing background makes sense. Nothing bad, but helps explain the well hyped trend.

Harebellsies · 14/03/2019 20:48

I mean, helps explain why shes so hyped

AnOwlCalledPlop · 14/03/2019 20:50

Who cares?

She’s a business woman. She appeals to people. She’s done a good job.

thedisorganisedmum · 14/03/2019 20:52

it's Instagram, it's not exactly real life.

There are thousands of people doing the same thing that she does. If people are so naive to believe she magically came first with tens of thousands of followers! It's a business, and she is doing well without hurting anyone, good for her.

Soontobe60 · 14/03/2019 20:53

Who's Mrs Hinch?

ASauvignonADay · 14/03/2019 20:55

I did wonder if she worked

PristineCondition · 14/03/2019 20:56

Why do you care?

Lucy8899 · 14/03/2019 20:56

Haha!! why on earth does she need to tell you about her past???

Ellabella989 · 14/03/2019 20:57

She probably could have been more honest but it’s her funny infectious personality that’s gotten her so far with her social media, not the fact she did some marketing in the past

HabbyHadno · 14/03/2019 20:59

Well, whatever she's done, she's done it well. Instagram is mainly marketing these days.

SD1978 · 14/03/2019 21:03

Does she use filters or is her home genuinely that bland? I can work out if she had a drab filter in every room, or genuinely juts nothing other than insipid greys in every room.

Whynham · 14/03/2019 21:07

So just stop following her

burritofan · 14/03/2019 21:08

How do you pay for articles? Do you mean adverts or promotional pages?

Flowerydenimdress · 14/03/2019 21:09

Does it really matter? She has done well for herself.

AvocadoBubbles · 14/03/2019 21:13

I appreciate that she doesn’t owe anyone an explanation in a sense. However don’t make out to your followers (some who are quite impressionable and vulnerable, judging from the screenshots of messages that she gets) that she has come from nowhere, didn’t expect this and is/was just a hairdresser with no media experience. It’s not truthful and not fair. In a way she reminds me of a MLM scheme. Preying in her followers “Hinchers” Hmm to click affiliate links and try to subscribe to her lifestyle. I have unfollowed (some time ago) but the amount of people on my feed who are now trying to be a Hincher (many who struggle with their pennies) is quite sad. I think she should be more honest that’s all.

I quite like her, and she has done very well for herself, but the whole phenomenon is just weird.
Did we all have stinking houses before mrs hinch?
I wish she would promote some more practical ways of keeping your house clean because the standard that her's is at just isn't achievable for most.
I wonder whether she has a cleaner because she must spend every minute cleaning, fixing things, picking up crumbs etc.
The dust doesn't even get the chance to settle in her home. I've yet to see her clean something dirty.
I work 35 hours a week and my DH 45-50
We have 2 kids and our house is 'lived in' to put it politely!
I don't know many people in real life who could keep a home like hers

HennyPennyHorror · 14/03/2019 21:15

The media isn't "fair" op. Did you just realise this? People lie, embroider and illustrate ALL the time. To make money.

She doesn't need to be honest. I have no real idea who she is by the way as I don't read the crap which is hurled at us through Twitter and the like....but from what I've read on here, she's a savvy business woman who has created a persona which people enjoy.

That's what makes her money. Not being honest.

NameChanger22 · 14/03/2019 21:15

Very, very overhyped. She's very ordinary and her style is very boring.

I never judge people on how much money they make, rather the value they bring, the two usually aren't related.

quittinaeete · 14/03/2019 21:16

Most on MN won't care and just say unfollow, tattle has loads of threads on her with all the receipts tattle.life/tags/mrs-hinch/

warning it's juicy!

ReanimatedSGB · 14/03/2019 21:17

Never watched her stuff. I have no time for people trying to push fucking domestic shitwork as somehow cute, rewarding, aspirational etc especially when the marketing is aimed so forcefully at women. The idea that your house has to be REALLY REALLY CLEAN or there's something morally or psychologically wrong with you is just a way of wasting women's time.

AvocadoBubbles · 14/03/2019 21:17

Tattle? Off to have a look.

She is very misleading

Tinyteatime · 14/03/2019 21:20

she was previously a successful sales person who worked in the City.

Wow I didn't know this. I’m not a fan but my respect for her has just gone up a notch. She should publicise it more.

AvocadoBubbles · 14/03/2019 21:21

Agree TinyTeaTime she should. Hence the thread.

She's dull as fuck, but no, she doesn't have to explain herself. If Debs from Wolverhampton wants to swoon over her grey crushed velvet soft furnishings, then fine.
