To think Mrs Hinch should be more honest?

AIBU to think Mrs Hinch should be a bit more honest to her followers about her past? Rather than the likeable, albeit slightly ditty hairdresser she portrays herself to be, she was previously a successful sales person who worked in the City. Herself and her husband paid for articles in the National Press when the Hinch craze first started. He also calls her viewers “Shoppers” on her Insta feed. Nice.

That tattle link is just full of bitter bitchy people. I can’t believe how personal they get about her and say they don’t care but clearly do! She’s not harming them - all they need to do is not look?!
She’s not actually harming anyone, it’s not like she’s selling expensive cleaners to people she’s going in to pound stretcher...

Sparklingbrook · 15/03/2019 13:52

Yes that Pink Stuff is 69p!

I don't understand the stockpiling though.

Hollowvictory · 15/03/2019 13:54

Who cares? Life's too short to be jealous of someone else's success. Don't follow her if she annoys you. Get some hobbies maybe

Hollowvictory · 15/03/2019 13:57

Why does it matter if she worked in sales? Now she's a cleaning instagram er, she may have worked in a chip shop, estate agents or garden centre who on earth cares?!?! Except bored jealous women with nothing to do

caughtinanet · 15/03/2019 13:59

How on earth does one clean with fabric conditioner?!

As I understand it she puts a splash in the cleaning water to give it a nice smell. I hate the smell of fabric conditioners so not something I would do but I do use a few drops of zoflora for the same reason so I can see why some people would do it.

QuirkyQuark · 15/03/2019 14:16

Ah that explains it then. Yes she should probably say about it then because she's very good at 'selling' to her Hinch army.

We can say it's wrong to point it out but she does attract a certain demographic who are mostly young, non professional mothers. They are vulnerable to a degree and she should be upfront about the fact she could probably sell anything to anyone.

I'll admit to an occasional watch of her on insta and I am in the fb group which is, at times, hilarious. But I don't have any crushed velvet, mirrored anything, flowers on my hob and my house currently looks like a shithole is a tip and I don't give a crap.

Wedgiecar58 · 15/03/2019 14:18

I quite like her, agree the cleaning is excessive though and I found things like the minky dressing gown and taking minky on her honeymoon really tedious and try-hard.

However a lot of the products she's got me using are fab!

OP, did she work in the city? She always makes out shes scared of travelling into London on her own, so I am surprised at that.

PCohle · 15/03/2019 14:29

Beyond being honest about sponsorship, affiliate links etc, I don't think she owes anyone an explanation of her previous employment. Social media is only ever a (carefully curated) snapshot of someone's life and I think most followers are, or should be, aware of that.

Calling "young, non-professional mothers" "vulnerable to a degree" strikes me as pretty patronising to be honest.

Tattle is a bloody horrible place. The bitterness and incredibly personal vitriol is genuinely alarming.

justasking111 · 15/03/2019 14:33

Nothing is as it seems on instagram. My friend does it as a SAHM. She has thousands of followers, her pictures are very selective. If you coul pan around the rest of her home you would have a giggle she said.

Limensoda · 15/03/2019 14:36

I must be one of a handful of people who have no idea who Mrs Hinch is.>>>>>>>> Off to Google.....

NorthernRunner · 15/03/2019 14:37

Never heard of tattle and won’t be checking it out.
I find it astonishing how rude some people are on the internet, makes me thankful that I am never going to be known beyond my family and friends. I suffer from anxiety as it is!

Anyway Mrs Hinchbim not a fan except I do love zoflora almost as much as she does

Crazycleaninglady · 15/03/2019 14:51

You'd have to be pretty naive to think she's not trying to sell you stuff.

I heard about her on here and watched a few of her videos. She did inspire me to do a bit of cleaning because she somehow manages to make it look fun. I do quite like scented cleaning products so it gave me a bit of motivation.

However I soon zoned out when I realised she wasn't actually cleaning anything, she's mostly just making things smell nice and buying tat.

It is what it is - advertising.

ErickBroch · 15/03/2019 14:51

I just read that website and the idea she gets paid for posting about charities is the funniest thing I've ever read. One even accused her of being paid £15,000 for it. Hilarious.

CheshireChat · 15/03/2019 15:02

Actually excessive cleaning is potentially really bad for children as it seems there's a link with childhood leukemia

CheshireChat · 15/03/2019 15:03

Actually working link

Skittlesss · 15/03/2019 15:10

@caughtinanet

Aah, I understand now. I thought they meant she was sloshing it onto a cloth and wiping stuff down with it neat. Grin

QuirkyQuark · 15/03/2019 15:15

PC when I was a young mother I was vulnerable. I had pnd and had this idea that everything had to be perfect. I would probably have wanted to buy things because I was in a low place and struggling.

YogaWannabe · 15/03/2019 15:34

These threads are always the same and brings out the absolute dregs of MN
her house is chav central
she’s a simpleton with simpleton followers
and the fifty posts oh her house is so grey I thought there was a filter on everything!
i thought I’d gone colourblind 😑 did you, yeah?
chav chav chav

The jealousy, especially when she unveiled herself and wasn’t frumpy and decked out in Boden, is astounding!

e1y1 · 15/03/2019 15:36

@BorsetshireBlue - thread #6 is - I am about 6 pages in.

Looking at the threads it is very wrong was she's doing. People are landing themselves in debt for shark vacuums and "narnia" hauls.

The80sweregreat · 15/03/2019 15:36

I've not seen this woman but I have heard about the zoflora obsession and grey interior. I did like ' how clean is your house' on tv as Aggy and Kim seemed nice ( even if they apparently didn't get on that well) and they used normal washing up liquid and a team of other cleaners!
Someone mentioned MLM selling up thread. I have a friend whose daughter is selling skin products online / Facebook etc and it's full on and very expensive. I do worry that it might not go well for her as Mumsnetters are generally not keen and it sounds hard going getting clients.

e1y1 · 15/03/2019 15:51

Post #150 on this page (post starts at #141 so not far to scroll) makes for very uncomfortable reading.

scandilover · 15/03/2019 16:01

That Tattle website really is for the most pathetic breed of person. It's where the nasty high school bullies (in adult form) go to slag off anyone who has managed to achieve something that they would have liked to have done themselves. I honestly find it disgusting that it's even a thing. Some of the vile hatred and bullying that happens via tattle is shameful

fluffylittleclouds · 15/03/2019 16:06

I’m in one of the big ‘hinch army’ FB groups, I hate the amount of acceptance/jokes there is about having to clean up all the time after husbands/boyfriends who don’t lift a finger with housework.

BorsetshireBlue · 15/03/2019 16:37

@e1y1 - I’ve not used this username since around 2014 - not sure why you have tagged me in to this thread.

e1y1 · 15/03/2019 16:42

@BorsetshireBlue apologies it should have been @BorsetshireBlew
