To think Mrs Hinch should be more honest?

AIBU to think Mrs Hinch should be a bit more honest to her followers about her past? Rather than the likeable, albeit slightly ditty hairdresser she portrays herself to be, she was previously a successful sales person who worked in the City. Herself and her husband paid for articles in the National Press when the Hinch craze first started. He also calls her viewers “Shoppers” on her Insta feed. Nice.

The Facebook group is hilarious. I enjoy the utter clowns wrecking stainless steel sinks with harpic

But I can’t fer wound up by her. She isn’t peddling expensive clothes, or expensive anything. She pedals shops like home bargains ffs

ChrisPrattsFace · 14/03/2019 22:19

I’ve followed her since she had very few followers, and she was never so OTT about the cleaning or products back then.
The amount she now uses, carpet spray and Air freshener, or zoflora down the sink for example every single day can not be good for her/the house/the environment at all.

Then again, it’s her life. It probably isn’t good for me how much I do some things!!

Springisallaround · 14/03/2019 22:20

I have never heard of Mrs Hinch until this thread and now I've seen her it's really not my thing. Grey satin, lots of cleaning, hair extensions, she seems like a nice person but this really isn't aspirational for me or anyone I know, but I don't think scruffy people who don't care so much about furnishings are her target market...it's quite regressive and boring as a way of living.

Springisallaround · 14/03/2019 22:25

Does she have children?

Using air fresheners and sprays have been linked to asthma and allergies in children.

I find it odd people would be horrified at passive smoking in the home but approve of having smelly unnecessary products that also can (minorly) harm children. It seems like as it's perceived as 'nice' and not 'disgusting', it's fine to do this!

She is pregnant with her first DC

BunsOfAnarchy · 14/03/2019 22:31

The whole 'Hinchers!' 'Hinched' 'Hinching' is a bit barfworthy for me.
Someone recommended her account and i followed. I followed pretty quick. It was all a bit TOO MUCH HINCHING all the time.
But i applaud her for making it big.

"Snapchat filters and cleaning the bog, all those chemicals are killing the dog"

That title on the tattle link made me choke on my tea Grin

FenellaMaxwell · 14/03/2019 22:35

Her insta makes me feel like I’ve gone colour blind. Confused

DannyDyersPants · 14/03/2019 22:36

I skip thru her stories now.....novelty has worn off! Her dog however is 😍

feska5 · 14/03/2019 23:09

Mrs Hinch is clearly obsessive compulsive. She stockpiles cleaning products particularly Zoflora. My concern is the amount of chemicals she uses given that she is pregnant. It will be interesting to see how or if her obsessions change once the baby arrives. It might be a huge shock to her system

I think she's ok.

I agree there's a lot of chemicals going on which isn't good though. I have never understood Febreze either. Masking smells?

Soontobe60 · 15/03/2019 07:18

Well, I looked her up and watched one of her videos, and am now coming out in an allergic rash just by watching how much fabric conditioner and zoflora she uses every day! Her carpets must be sticky as hell!
Who taught her to clean? Proctor and Gamble?
What's wrong with a bit of washing up liquid, a few microfibres cloths and elbow grease?

Crunchycrunchycrunchy · 15/03/2019 07:18

Why are people so judgy and nasty?
She's a simpleton with simpleton followers

I follow Mrs Hinch and I actually really like her. I always kept my house clean and tidy, but it was a complete chore. I hated doing it. But sitting in untidiness would irritate me. Since following her I can do a quick 20/30 mins a day and actually enjoy it. I've also tried some products I wouldn't have before, which make my life easier.

She's got personality in her insta stories and she makes people smile. I love her stories about her dog.

If people don't like her content, they don't need to follow her or post nasty threads. She uses Mumsnet and I feel sorry for her that she sees stuff like this on here all the time, as well as people messaging her directly to be horrible.

And no, before anyone asks, I am not Mrs Hinch.

Sparklingbrook · 15/03/2019 07:22

I would much rather look at a blog about cleaning than all the vomi inducing Mummy bloggers that are ten a penny.

Guineapiglet345 · 15/03/2019 07:27

I watched her stories after the last thread on here about her and I didn’t buy her at all, it all seemed very stage managed and fake.

I’m not surprised she’s got a background in selling because she reminded me of those infomercials where they keep showing the product and repeating it’s name.

It’s quite sad actually because I can see how vulnerable people could easily believe she’s not being paid to market anything and believe she’s genuine, especially when she does really obvious ‘set up’ ads like the Brita filter so it gives the appearance she’s being honest about what she’s being paid to advertise, but just not mentioning the 20 other products she’s also being paid to advertise.

She’s selling a lifestyle, she looks like a model, she doesn’t seem to work yet has an expensive new house, nice car and goes away on mini breaks and eats out regularly.

NorthernRunner · 15/03/2019 07:30

I looked at her page on Instagram once, her house was very grey and cold and I realised I haven’t got the time or inclination for that so didn’t follow.
It’s shady if she isn’t being transparent with her affiliated links but she doesn’t owe anyone an explanation about previous employment

megletthesecond · 15/03/2019 07:35

Their grey house is odd. It reminds me of the black and white before scenes in the wizard of oz.

Betsy86 · 15/03/2019 07:42

Love her house it might not be to everyones taste but i think its great.
She might not appeal to everyone but so what if she has helped even a handful of people to get to grips with there housework or get motivated to clean its not a bad thing.
You dont have to follow her or read her book etc but for those that do and feel like it helps them then go for it. There are worse things they could be doing to get through the day!
All the best Flowers

Nameusernameuser · 15/03/2019 07:43

I don't have Instagram but DP does and follows her, he came home with that weird cleaning cloth and "the pink stuff" to clean our kitchen so I'm all for it Grin

I hope everyone buys her loads of fisherprice junk for her baby, splash of colour in her home!

Sparklingbrook · 15/03/2019 07:43

Is 'All the best' her catchphrase?

Mumberjack · 15/03/2019 07:49

You can be ditzy and still have brains!
Her previous career does explain how Mrs Hinch is able to do the wee ads for new products so convincingly.
I like her - it’s made some cleaning more bearable. Although for once I’d love her to clean something that’s actually really dirty to start with

Skittlesss · 15/03/2019 07:50

How on earth does one clean with fabric conditioner?!

Farmerswifey12 · 15/03/2019 07:52

I don't know if I think Mrs Hinch should be more honest.

I definately think she should decorate at least one of her rooms in a colour that isn't grey!

LeekMunchingSheepShagger · 15/03/2019 09:23

I looked her up on Instagram after reading about her on here recently. Her entire feed is grey!! I don't know how she can live without any colour in her life!
