Wedding Invite specifies no smoking

AIBU? I'm a bit miffed. I by no means chain smoke, but might have one or two outside at a party.

My cousin is getting married soon and the invites request that people don't smoke within the grounds of the church or the grounds of the reception venue. I'm not going to kick up a fuss, I just feel like its overkill.

Arnodilo obviously meant fresh air bloody autocorrect- fag smoke even outside causes my lungs to spasm (thanks to an addicted mother forcing me to breathe in smoke by smoking in the house, car, sitting in smoking areas when I was a child - completely fucked up my lungs). Secondary lung cancer is a thing as is the appalling smell that follows smokers for hours after. I can’t wait for the day it is banned.

If I went to a wedding (as I have)and itsno drinking I don’t find myself having to pop to the pub. If people seriously can’t go a day without a fag they have a serious problem

Like to know people will enforce this!

If you're old Auntie Vera goes out for a fag, are people going to refuse to let her back in?

My mom was a chain smoker. Growing up I lived in a house with yellow wallpaper and a cloud of smoke around me. Long drives to Cornwall in a car encased in smoke.
Smokers are selfish.

My mom still smokes (has cut down) but when it comes to cigs, she's a woman possessed and will go for a cig at all costs.

For me it's the smell. Smokers say they can't smell it. When my children were young they'd sleep at Mom's and although she didn't smoke round them. All their PJs would stink, when I told mom she's say she couldn't smell it.

Last week she went outside for a fag and came back stinking and sat right next to me, while I just had to try not to breathe.
