Newborn baby found in a park last night, my heart breaks for both mother and baby.

I know I would not wanted to give birth alone (I presume mum was alone) and without pain relief and medical help.

Baby found abandoned in freezing East Ham park

She must have known leaving that baby in that weather would mean certain death.

Either way, she needs help.

Charlie97 · 01/02/2019 12:37

@Nesssie I agree but maybe she saw the woman coming and knew she'd hear the baby? She's probably in a dreadful state physically and emotionally.

I do worry about the mother

I wonder what circumstances led her to leave the infant

Is she part of a sex ring and her bosses dumped the baby?

Is she mentally or physically unwell?

Is she terrified of her husband/partner/parents?

Is she a young girl?

We won’t know unless she is found but with the baby now being safe, I do hope the mother is too

Sirzy · 01/02/2019 12:40

Poor baby.

As much as I feel for women in that postion I do lose a bit of sympathy when they don’t leave them somewhere “safe”

That said I hope she is found and gets any care she needs

ILoveMaxiBondi · 01/02/2019 12:41

She must have known leaving that baby in that weather would mean certain death.

She may not have been the one abandoning it! For all we know the mother is 12 years old and her rapist father has taken the baby from her to avoid being discovered.

thatsmyspace · 01/02/2019 12:41

I really don't understand why woman do this. I mean I suppose I understand why they abandon their babies but why leave it in a parkin freezing weather. Why not leave it on a doorstep where you know that person is in, knock on the door and walk away.Walk into a shop/hospital/anywhere busy and leave it where you know it will be warm and found. It's almost like these mothers want the baby to die. It's so cruel 😢 my heart breaks for the babies.

ILoveMaxiBondi · 01/02/2019 12:43

I really don't understand why woman do this.

You’re lucky you’ve never had to understand.

Soubriquet · 01/02/2019 12:45

You don’t know the circumstances so try not to judge the poor woman harshly.

Like a PP said, she might not even have been the person who dumped the baby

ILoveMaxiBondi · 01/02/2019 12:45

And you’re assuming it was the mother that left her.

Let’s say it was. Imagine how bad your situation has to be before you would consider doing this. How bad would things have to be for you to leave your newborn by a park bench in freezing conditions?

Charlie97 · 01/02/2019 12:45

It's almost like these mothers want the baby to die. It's so cruel 😢 my heart breaks for the babies.

If that were the case they could ensure it happened, I believe that the person who left the child saw the woman approaching the place they left the baby.

OP posts:
Charlie97 · 01/02/2019 12:46

Just to be clear I am NOT judging the mother, but heart breaks for them both.

I do hope the mother is found and is ok.

OP posts:
picklemepopcorn · 01/02/2019 12:50

That's
Someone doing this wants the baby to live but can't risk being caught. It needs to be left somewhere sufficiently quiet that the adult won't be spotted/recorded on camera.

Terrible, terrible.

Charlie97 · 01/02/2019 12:51

Agreed @picklemepopcorn shop etc may have CCTV. They may also have been watching from a distance to see the woman find the baby.

OP posts:
ILoveMaxiBondi · 01/02/2019 12:54

They left it by a park bench. The report says it was not hidden! They did not want this baby to die, they wanted it to be found.

thatsmyspace · 01/02/2019 13:01

What if the baby was picked up by the wrong person though . A paedophile or just another sick individual. You can't control who finds the baby when you've dumped it.

I understand that these women must be going through something horrific to even do it but when did a little baby become something so throwaway. It's sad 😢

ILoveMaxiBondi · 01/02/2019 13:09

What if the baby was picked up by the wrong person though . A paedophile or just another sick individual. You can't control who finds the baby when you've dumped it.

  1. that’s really unlikely. Statistically most people aren’t paedophiles. The chances of the person’s finding the baby being a paedophile and keeping a baby they find and having to explain it to everyone around them and getting away with that are incredibly small

  2. someone who is in the frame of mind to leave their baby by a park bench is desperate. They aren’t thinking straight. Surely that’s obvious?

steppemum · 01/02/2019 13:11

Oh my heart breaks for the mother actually.
Of course for the baby too, but imagine having a baby alone, without medical help and then being too scared to do anything but leave it in the park.

I am betting she is a child herself Sad

ILoveMaxiBondi · 01/02/2019 13:11

And they didn’t throw it away Hmm they left it to be found and taken care of. Complete opposite of throwing it away!

Charlie97 · 01/02/2019 13:13

@thatsmyspace do you have no empathy? And a random paedophile walking past an abandoned baby..... rare as rocking horse shit I should imagine.

OP posts:
ILoveMaxiBondi · 01/02/2019 13:18

The fact the baby was wrapped in just a towel suggests that the mother either couldn’t even afford to buy a babygrow or that she had no choice in it. Maybe she didn’t even know she was pregnant (yes it’s possible) and panicked when it happened or maybe she just had no say at all in what happened to her baby.

Queenofthestress · 01/02/2019 13:20

Throwing it away would be leaving it in a back alley where it cant be found, leaving it on a park bench with someone close enough to find it? Not throwing it away

PlainSpeakingStraightTalking · 01/02/2019 13:22

Park = dog walkers = likely to be found = implies a reasonable degree of care taken

thatsmyspace · 01/02/2019 13:22

I don't really no. Not in these cases anyway. You can't control who finds that baby once you've dumped it. And leaving it out in the freezing/snowy weather we had last night is simply cruel it could have died. Then that would have been manslaughter.

NutElla5x · 01/02/2019 13:25

Who knows what lead to this mother abandoning her baby? All I know is that, unless you are a complete psychopath, it must be the hardest thing in the world to do,so I do have every sympathy for her. This mum at least wrapped her baby in a towel, and I'd like to think she knew that that female dog walker was coming along so knew her child would be safe. I hope she is found safe and well and given all the help she needs and that her baby will live out it's life surrounded with all the love and security that she deserves.

ILoveMaxiBondi · 01/02/2019 13:26

You’re coming across as quite stupid thats. I’ll forgive you, it’s friday, everyone’s tired, it’s freezing, the brain takes longer to warm up.
