To be annoyed at woman from DofE car crash?

ilovemilton · 21/01/2019 10:52

Whatever we think about Prince Phillip and his driving, the accident happened and two ladies were unfortunately hurt.

However, I am watching This Morning and getting some level of rage about the clear compo grabbing attitude of this lady! Crashes happen every day and she has no need to be splashed across every news paper and programme because she wants an apology!

The Royal Family have even said they have tried to be in touch but not getting a response. What does she want?!

I suspect that the Royal Family could invite this woman to a Garden Party, send her flowers, pay for a new car and it still wouldn't be enough.

I also don't know what the PR bods could do in this situation, as if someone wants their 5 minutes of fame, then they'll get it one way or another. I imagine that they are hoping that this will all be chip paper or the internet equivalent by mid-week!

MorningsEleven · 21/01/2019 11:51

Well this has taken an interesting turn.

nannieplum · 21/01/2019 11:52

LULU does Emma have kids at a school ? hubby says she sounds/ looks familiar?

BirdieInTheHand · 21/01/2019 11:52

@soupdragon

How do you know it isn't true?

Well the palace PR have since offered clarification that they had tried to get in touch without sucess. Which seems to undermine claims that well wishes had been "exchanged".

higgyhog · 21/01/2019 11:52

It is highly likely the women in the car will have a civil claim againt DoE, if he was dazzled by the sun he should not have pulled out. There would inevitably be a claim for damage to the car and for personal injuries in a case like this, that is what we have insurance for. I would be pretty annoyed if this had happened to me because all the press reports mentioned only the DoE and there was a suggestion that the baby in the car was airbrushed out of the reports. it doesn't help that the Duke seems to be putting two fingers up to everyone by driving without a seat belt.

If the Duke wants to go out in his car you would think he would take his personal protection officer with him, if he had done that they could have stepped out of te car and advised him when to pull out.

Saw she was complaining on This Morning that she had medical worries that hadn't been seen to yet and somehow that's the Royal families fault Confused

SoupDragon · 21/01/2019 11:52

She could be libeling the poor woman!

She would have to be spectacularly stupid to do that on a popular forum that is regularly trawled by the gutted press.

VanGoghsDog · 21/01/2019 11:53

@StealthPolarBear

To 'be remembered' just means they send their regards. It's a bit weak but it's pretty normal for the 'upper classes'.

It's like when they have parties, they have an 'at home' - makes no sense really but just means 'pop round for a drink between these times'.

It'd be nicer for her if he sent a note though, rather than do it via the police - I think that is a lot of what she is griping about.

But, yes, she is annoying me too.

TBF the press are probably on the phone to her nonstop offering her £££ to talk

And if she is a bit iffy of course she will embellish and milk for all its worth

Palace could have made this go away slebs do that all the time.

I think they )palace) have been foolish but suspect they feel above it all.

VanGoghsDog · 21/01/2019 11:55

Well the palace PR have since offered clarification that they had tried to get in touch without sucess. Which seems to undermine claims that well wishes had been "exchanged".

It seems to me that the police passed on the "like to be remembered to you" message and the palace have been trying to get in touch directly. These two situations can co-exist.

Probably can't get through as she's on the phone to various oppress all day long!

Shallishanti123 · 21/01/2019 11:55

God that was quick lauraswns

VanGoghsDog · 21/01/2019 11:56

*press, not 'oppress'!

TheClaifeCrier · 21/01/2019 11:56

She broke her arm! That's not a minor injury. It fecking hurts and it's a nightmare trying to do stuff on a daily basis when you're in a cast. She's absolutely entitled to compensation and if it had been any other 97 year old in the accident you would all be encouraging her to claim.

She needs her friend's insurance details as she would have to claim through her friend's insurance as a passenger.

I can just envisage all the media (who may have been watching this thread) desperately Googling the 'broken wrist' lady and her history and trying to find out as much as they can to make this story run!

nannieplum · 21/01/2019 11:58

oh right..... fair enough on the claim thing.

Villanellenovella · 21/01/2019 12:00

Of course it's 'a nasty injury'. I'm a very active person and would be well pissed off if that had happened to me

Elfinablender · 21/01/2019 12:00

Aw, come on you bunch of cynics, she wanted a bunch of flowers and a sorry card.

Georgeofthejungle · 21/01/2019 12:00

I don’t even know what’s going on on TM today. Between her and the mental woman on tanning injections. Must be a slow news day!

FrenchSchnoodle · 21/01/2019 12:01

Wow. Fast fingers Laura. That was quick

SaveKevin · 21/01/2019 12:03

I have to agree op. I’d hope if I was in her position to have remained quiet, at least a little longer to see how the palace played this out.
The police are still investigating so I think the best thing is to keep quiet until that’s complete, that also gives the Prince time to reply appropriately. First rule of any accident is don’t apologise.

StealthPolarBear · 21/01/2019 12:04

Oh we had a long thread about 'at home' cards. Was the first I'd heard of them. If someone told me they'd be at home between 6 and 8, I'd lmthibk how lovely and wonder why they were telling me

mydogisthebest · 21/01/2019 12:04

I hope if Lulu's claims are true the papers do get hold of it and have that on their pages instead of the "Oh look at my sad face and broken wrist" pictures we are getting now.
